Simba Sleep is a UK-based company that manufactures uniquely designed mattresses. But the big question is: are Simba mattresses any good? To find out, our team of sleep experts spent dozens of hours reviewing and testing all of their most popular mattress models. Our Editor’s Choice is the 5000 Pro Flex.

- Ideal for back sleepers
- Suitable for side sleepers
- Great motion isolation
- Decent edge support
- Not suitable for individuals over 250 lbs.
- Not ideal for stomach sleepers over 130 lbs.
- Cover is non-removable
The 5000 Pro Flex is the company’s newest model and it’s certainly the best Simba hybrid mattress that we’ve tested. It features unique proprietary materials that offer a mix of pressure relief and support to help you get the best night’s sleep. This new Simba mattress also has a hypoallergenic and breathable sleep surface to keep you from overheating at night.
Medium in feel, we think that the 5000 Pro Flex is suitable for back sleepers as well as some side sleepers. Check this mattress out if you’re looking for something that provides luxurious comfort without the use of classic memory foam.
Who should buy the 5000 Pro Flex?
- Back sleepers
- Side sleepers
- Hot sleepers
- Allergy sufferers
- Those who prefer a balanced foam feel
During our testing, we rated the 5000 Pro Flex around a 5.5 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale. The industry standard for medium-firm is 6.5, but this mattress feels a bit softer than that. The proprietary foam used in its top comfort layer has a balanced feel and a quicker response to pressure than traditional memory foam.
We think this mattress is suitable for most individuals, regardless of sleeping style. It’s a great mattress for side sleepers who need extra pressure relief, but without the excessive sinkage offered by soft memory foam mattresses. Back sleepers will enjoy sleeping on this mattress because it offers body-contouring and adequate spinal support.
Now despite being called a hybrid mattress, the 5000 Pro Flex does not have a support layer that’s made up of pocketed coils. Instead, it contains a unique Aerocoil® spring layer which does not provide durable support but helps distribute weight evenly and regulate your body temperature. We recommend that stomach sleepers over 130 lbs. opt for a standard hybrid mattress that offers more support.
One high-quality and supportive example is the Bear Elite Hybrid mattress.
Moving on, we also recommend the 5000 Pro Flex for hot sleepers who need a mattress that keeps them cool at night. This mattress features graphite-infused foam as well as a natural wool layer which are both great at regulating body temperature. These special layers work to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter for restful sleep year-round.
A great mattress for couples is one that has low motion transfer and good edge support. The 5000 Pro Flex has both of these which makes it a good choice for those who sleep with a partner. Although there’s no perfect mattress for every individual, this mattress can accommodate a wide range of sleepers.
The Simba 5000 Pro Flex is 14 inches tall and is comprised of seven total layers. All the foams used in its construction are CertiPUR-US certified for low VOCs and zero heavy metals. This Simba hybrid mattress is encased in a hypoallergenic mattress cover that provides a soft and breathable sleep surface.
Directly beneath the cover is a layer of natural wool which is a well-known material for temperature regulation as well as added comfort. Next up, is the top comfort layer which consists of graphite-infused Simbatex foam. The proprietary foam contours to your body’s curves and provides extra airflow due to its open-cell structure.
Below this are the 5000 patented Aerocoil® springs which are unique to Simba mattresses. Unlike the original Simba hybrid mattress which only has one miQro spring comfort layer, the 5000 Pro Flex has two layers for added pressure relief and air circulation. Then, comes a transition layer that’s made with edge-to-edge Simba-pure foam which reinforces the edges of the mattress.
Finally, the base layer of the mattress is made of high-density polyfoam which the company calls Zoned Simba-Pure Base. This dense foam features 7 support zones to provide varying levels of comfort and support for the different parts of your body. Moreover, the support foam also provides the mattress with its shape and acts as a durable foundation for all the layers above it.
Simba says and I quote, “The 5000 Pro Flex is the most advanced out of all our mattresses.” We agree. The mattress features high-end materials and it’s put together in an excellent and well-thought-out manner. It offers a great balance of comfort and support and it’s one of the best mattresses we’ve tested this year.
The 5000 Pro Flex comes in 5 sizes and is compatible with most foundations and bed frames. If you’re using a slatted bed frame, make sure that the slats are not more than 3 inches apart.

Next up, is Simba’s highly popular flagship mattress: the Original Simba Hybrid 2500 Mattress. This model catapulted Simba Sleep to fame by featuring an innovative design which is geared towards providing comfort and support for a wide variety of individuals. And because of its medium-firm feel, it’s the best mattress in the Simba lineup for all sleeper types.
Although it’s not the most affordable mattress on the market, the Original Simba Mattress is a bit cheaper than the brand’s 5000 Pro Flex model. So if you’re looking for something to replace your old mattress, this mattress is an excellent and reasonably-priced choice.
Who should buy the Hybrid 2500?
- All sleeper types
- Combination sleepers
- Hot sleepers
- Allergy sufferers
- Those who prefer a medium-firm mattress
After testing the mattress, we gave it a 6 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale. It’s just a touch softer than medium-firm and it can accommodate a wide range of individuals regardless of their sleeping position. Like the 5000 Pro Flex, this mattress is responsive and it has a neutral foam feel that won’t let your body sink excessively.
We think this mattress is great for back and stomach sleepers of average to heavy weight. However, side sleepers who weigh 130 lbs. or less might find it a bit too firm for their hips and shoulders. If you’re a lightweight side sleeper, you should opt for a softer mattress such as the Amerisleep AS5.
On the other hand, some back and stomach sleepers will also feel well-supported on this mattress. Its responsive top layer keeps your spine in neutral alignment and provides some nice body-contouring. But stomach sleepers who weigh over 200 lbs. should look for a more supportive hybrid or innerspring mattress to keep their hips in alignment.
The responsive nature of the bed’s micro coils and its resilient foams make it an ideal mattress for combination sleepers. Moreover, the mattress also has some great features that aid in temperature regulation. This is great for hot sleepers who want a mattress that helps them sleep cooler and not one that traps body heat.
Also, the Original Simba Hybrid is great for couples who don’t want to be disturbed by their partner’s movements. This is due to low levels of motion transfer across the mattress. The mattress also has good edge support which means you can sit or lie near its edges without falling off.
The Simba Hybrid 2500 is 12 inches tall and is comprised of five layers. Like all other mattresses in the Simba lineup, this mattress contains CertiPUR-US foams which have low VOC levels. The mattress is encased in a hypoallergenic knitted cover that’s non-removable; as such, we recommend spot cleaning it or using a mattress protector for inevitable spills and stains.
The Hybrid 2500 has pretty much the same construction as the 5000 Pro Flex except it has no natural wool layer. Another slight difference is that it only features one layer of Aerocoils®, while the 5000 Pro Flex features two. Despite having similar construction, this mattress feels a little firmer and this might be due to its lower profile.
All in all, the Original Simba Hybrid is a great mattress and we would recommend it for individuals who are looking for a new mattress. It’s very well-made and it offers comfortable sleep for a reasonable price. Again, it’s suitable for all sleeper types with the exception of some heavier individuals who might need a bit more solid support.
The Hybrid 2500 comes in 5 sizes and is compatible with most foundations and bed frames. It’s also compatible with adjustable bed bases.

Last but not least in our Simba mattress review is the company’s most affordable model: the Simba Hybrid 1500. This mattress features the same unique materials as the first two models in the lineup albeit with a lesser number of Aerocoils®. It’s the firmest out of the three Simba mattresses making it especially ideal for back and stomach sleepers.
Also known as the Simba Hybrid Essential Mattress, this mattress gives you exactly what you need without additional bells and whistles. If you’re searching for a mattress that offers firm support and great value for money, the Hybrid 1500 is a great choice for you.
Who should buy the Hybrid 1500?
- Back and stomach sleepers
- Hot sleepers
- Allergy sufferers
- Those who prefer a firm mattress
During our testing, we found this mattress to be around a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. This means it’s a true firm mattress and it’s geared towards people who need solid support. Like the other Simba mattresses, the 1500 Hybrid is also quite responsive and you’ll feel more “on top” of it rather than “in” it.
We found this mattress’s firmness level to be ideal for stomach and back sleepers who need adequate hip and lumbar support. However, since it’s mostly made out of foam and a very thin layer of micro coils, we would steer heavier individuals toward a more supportive hybrid mattress such as the Saatva Classic. We also think this mattress is a bit too firm for strict side sleepers who need extra cushioning and pressure relief for their joints.
The Hybrid 1500 is also great at temperature regulation, meaning it’s a suitable choice for hot sleepers. The bed’s cover is hypoallergenic which is good news for those who suffer from nighttime allergies. Lastly, the bed also excels in motion isolation which makes it a viable option for couples who want to get uninterrupted sleep.
Featuring the lowest profile among all the mattresses in the Simba lineup, the Hybrid 1500 is only 10 inches tall. It’s comprised of five different layers, and all the foams used are CertiPUR-US certified for low VOC levels and zero heavy metals. The mattress is also encased in a hypoallergenic knitted fabric cover for added breathability.
Again, the 1500 Hybrid’s construction is very similar as the two previous mattresses in the list. The only differences are that it has a lower profile and it features 1500 Aerocoils® as opposed to the 2500 and 5000 coils that the two other mattresses contain. The exclusion of these extra features result in a significantly lower overall cost making it a more budget-friendly option.
All things considered, we found the 1500 Hybrid to be a high-quality mattress that can offer you great sleep especially if you prefer a firmer and more responsive mattress.
The Hybrid 1500 comes in 5 sizes and is compatible with most bed frames and foundations. It’s also compatible with adjustable bed frames.
- Twin XL
The Hybrid 1500 comes with a 100-night sleep trial which entails a 30-day break-in period. It is also backed by a 10-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects. Free shipping and complementary White Glove delivery is available in Canada.
