The Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid is touted by the company as being “the coolest bed in the world”. That’s a BIG claim, but does the mattress actually have the chops to back it up? Read on to find out what I thought about it.

My experience with the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid
To say I was impressed is an understatement.
I am actually blown away by how well the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid performed across the board.
The only main thing I could say I didn’t like about the mattress is that it’s not great for heavyweight stomach sleepers.
Firmness
The Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid sits squarely on a 5 on the mattress firmness scale giving a true medium feel.
This firmness level is good for all sleeper types, with the exception of some stomach sleepers.
I say some stomach sleepers because I found the mattress to be just a little too soft for heavyweight stomach sleepers.
Cooling Test
We rate the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid a 9 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
I gotta hand it to Ghostbed.
The mattress actually does sleep cool.
The memory foam layers are infused with graphite and cooling gel.
While some mattress brands throw these terms out there and still sleep hot, the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid does not retain any measurable amount of heat at all.
Motion Transfer Test
We rate the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid a 9 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
The multiple foam layers absorb movement so well that it almost acts like an all-foam bed (despite the fact that it contains a coil support unit).
I did not experience any motion transfer when I tried the mattress out with a partner.
Edge Support Test
We rate the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid a 7 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
Instead of reinforced edge coils – which most hybrid mattresses contain – the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid uses foam-encased coils as its edge reinforcements.
While I did sink a tiny bit when I sat on the bed, I wasn’t in any danger of rolling off the edge.
Pressure Relief/Comfort Test
We rate the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid a 9.5 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
The comfort foam layers of the mattress provided me with compression which kept the weight off my main pressure points.
The coil unit kept me from sinking into the mattress while also keeping my spine in proper alignment.
Overall, I have to say that this is one comfortable mattress.
Construction
There are eight layers in the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid.
These layers come encased in the mattress’ proprietary cooling cover.
Right underneath the cover lies a layer of cooling fibers which provides even more cooling.
A thin layer of gel memory foam provides a Euro top feel without any heat retention.
Ghostbed’s patented GhostIce layer lies underneath which also helps dissipate heat.
A layer of graphite and cooling gel-infused memory foam acts as the main comfort layer of the mattress and helps relieve pressure.
Another specialty foam which Ghostbed calls their Ghostbounce foam sits underneath the comfort layer.
The mattress’ transition layer is made up of a memory foam alternative.
The coil unit is made up of 6” individually-pocketed coils, which helps support the other layers and provide overall structure to the mattress.
The base layer of the mattress is made up of high density foam that helps hold the upper layers together for both stability and durability.
I did experience a significant amount of off-gassing when I first unboxed the mattress, but it dissipated within 48 hours.
Durability
Based on the quality of the materials and construction, I estimate that you’ll get at least 10 years of use out of this mattress.

The Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid comes in seven standard mattress sizes.
It measures 14 inches in thickness and is compatible with most bed frames, foundations, and bases.

Conclusion
Ghostbed really knocked it out of the park with the Ghostbed Luxe Hybrid.
If you’ve read any of my other reviews you know that I’m very harsh. But this mattress actually lived up to my standards.
It did very well in my cooling, comfort, pressure relief, and motion transfer tests.
The only real weak point was edge support, which has some room for improvement.
Overall, this is a very good mattress that’s good for the vast majority of sleepers.
