My experience with the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid
While I was initially very impressed with the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid’s very affordable price point, what really wowed me was its ability to give you the right amount of pressure relief where you need it – not once did I feel like I was in any pain whatsoever (no matter what sleeping position I tried).
For this reason, I can safely recommend the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid to those who suffer from chronic pain as I think it’ll help them sleep completely pain-free.
For a mattress that’s budget-friendly, I found it to perform more like a high-end hybrid mattress (especially when it comes to comfort and support).
But there is a slight caveat, especially if you tend to sleep hot: despite the name, the CoolNest Hybrid’s cooling properties are pretty much zilch.
Firmness Test
The SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid sits on a 5.5 on the mattress firmness scale, giving it a medium feel.
This firmness level is good for all sleeper types from side sleepers and combination sleepers to back sleepers and stomach sleepers.
Some stomach sleepers however – especially those ones who weigh over 230 pounds – may find that their lower back area dips into the mattress, which will cause problems for their spinal alignment in the future.
Cooling Test
We rate the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid a 5.5 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
I know, I know.
One of the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid’s main selling points is its ‘advanced cooling system’, which in my honest opinion is a little misleading.
It’s true at first – the mattress does feel cool to the touch when you first lay on it.
But as time goes on and as the mattress’ memory foam layers hug and conform to your body, you start to feel like you’re being enveloped in your own little heat pocket.
No bueno.
Motion Isolation Test
We rate the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid a 7.5 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
Although not the best I’ve tried, it isn’t the worst either.
Thanks to the multiple foam layers, which help absorb cross-mattress movement, I experienced a minimal amount of motion transfer when I tried it out with a partner.
Edge Support Test
We rate the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid a 6 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
The SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid does contain reinforced edges but here’s the thing – the edges are made of foam.
That fact, plus the multiple foam top layers of the mattress, offsets the ability of the reinforced edges to provide good edge support.
You WILL sink into the bed if you try to lay on the edge or sit on it.
Pressure Relief/Comfort
We rate the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid a 9 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
This is the area where the CoolNest Hybrid impresses me the most.
The comfort and support foam layers that provide both pressure relief for your main pressure points as well as zoned support (which means your back and joints are well-supported).
There are two memory foam comfort layers in the mattress which help contribute to a feeling I describe as ‘like you’re being hugged by your bed’ – a typical feature of high-end memory foam mattresses.
Construction
There are seven total layers to the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid mattress. These layers come encased in a moisture-wicking mattress cover that’s made of silk.
The first comfort layer is made up of gel-infused memory foam that conforms to your body providing pressure point relief.
The second layer is made up of plush comfort foam which adds further softness to the mattress.
Underneath that lies yet another layer of gel-infused memory foam for even more compression.
A high-resilience foam infused with phase change materials makes up the fourth layer, which helps provide stability while helping with heat retention.
The fifth layer is made up of high-density support foam that helps provide support and stability while also helping with sagging.
The transition foam layer is made up of zoned support foam with ergonomic zones that help provide extra support in the parts of your body that need it.
The coil unit is made up of individually-pocketed coils that help provide support and help prevent motion transfer.
Reinforced foam edges surround the coil unit for extra edge support.
Warning: I experienced a significant amount of off-gassing when I first unboxed the mattress but this dissipated within 48 hours.
Durability
Even with its more affordable price point, the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid mattress is made with quality materials.
That said, in comparison to higher-end brands, the longevity will be rather short-lived but for its value I still think it’s a pretty good mattress.

The SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid comes in four standard mattress sizes.
You can choose between three different thickness options: 12 inches, 14 inches, and a whopping 16 inches.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t wowed by the cooling capabilities, which (based on the name alone) should be much better.
But comfort and pressure relief were phenomenal.
