My experience with the Chilipad 2.0
Simply put, the Chilipad 2.0 is a mattress temperature-regulation sleep system that helps you sleep cool when it’s hot and sleep warm when it’s cold.
I’ve already tried (and loved) the Chilipad Dock Pro (since renamed the Chilipad 1.0) but right off the bat I have to say that I think the upgrade is totally worth it, even though at first, I really didn’t think it needed one.
Everything about the Chilipad 2.0 is just better.
From its sleeker appearance to its whisper quiet performance to its ‘just like a plush mattress topper’ feel.
Appearance and Comfort Test
We rate the Chilipad 2.0 a 10 out of 10 when it comes to appearance.
The Chilipad 2.0 looks even more compact than the 1.0. You can definitely fit the Chilipad 2.0 underneath your bed as long as there’s at least six inches of space.
The major difference in appearance is that the Chilipad 2.0 now has a slate grate cover with a lighter gray bottom and a sleek black dock whereas the Chilipad 1.0 has more of a two tone gray color scheme.
The water tubes of the 2.0 are now dark which looks sleeker and classier than the old model.
You also still get the option to choose between a single (half of the bed) or a dual (entire bed) model which is good if you share a bed with a partner who prefers a different sleep temperature than you.
As for comfort, the Chilipad 2.0 feels just like a plush mattress topper. I didn’t feel anything that would make me think that I was lying on something else.
Ease of Setup Test
We rate the Chilipad 2.0 a 9 out of 10 when it comes to ease of set up.
You get a large (and by that I mean HUGE) instruction manual with the package and you also get a QR code that leads you to an instruction video.
If that wasn’t enough, the Chilipad 2.0 page on the Sleepme website comes with a manual that looks like an elevated wikiHow.
I’m impressed.
Everything was very straightforward when it came to setting up the Chilipad 2.0. Even without the manual, it was easy to see what went where.
All in all, it took me about 10 minutes to have everything set-up and ready to use.
Temperature Regulation Test
We rate the Chilipad 2.0 a 9.5 out of 10 when it comes to temperature regulation.
Aside from controlling the Chilipad’s temperature through its dedicated app, you also get a remote control that looks somewhat futuristic but is pleasantly analog – you just turn the dial to get your desired temperature.
The Chilipad 2.0’s temperature range is from 55F to 115F which gives you a wide range of options.
It warms or cools pretty much as soon as you set it to your preferred temperature. You don’t get any lags and there’s no waiting around to get comfortable enough to sleep.
You also have the option to set your temperature to cool while you sleep and gradually warm up in the morning to wake you up.
I totally appreciate the fact that the Chilipad is whisper quiet – there’s no hums or any sort of noise to be heard even when it gets going.
Sleep Tracker
Like its predecessor, the 2.0 does not have a dedicated sleep tracker.
As of this writing there is a sleep tracker you can use through the Sleepme app which works with the Chilipad, but it’s in the process of being phased out.
Cost
Sleepme still maintains their stance on being subscription-free, which in the long run really makes the product worth its price point.
The Chilipad 2.0 comes with a year’s worth of system cleaner while the former Chilipad sleep system only came with just a few packets.
That’s more money saved right there.
I will be honest though and say that the Chilipad 2.0 is expensive, but I really do feel that you get your money’s worth.

It’s considered a successor to the Chilipad Dock Pro, which was renamed the Chilipad 1.0 on the same date.
Before that came the OOLER sleep system which was introduced in 2019 and the Chilipad Cube which was introduced in 2017.

The Chilipad 2.0 is a massive improvement over its predecessor.

The only real downside is the cost.
Bed cooling systems are a luxury product and have the high price tag to boot.
When compared to other cooling systems like Eight Sleep, the main benefit is the lack of subscription fee. You pay once upfront and you can use Chilipad forever.
The downside is the lack of sleep tracking data.
Whether it’s right for you or not depends on what you’re looking for from a cooling system.
