Amerisleep Allseasons Blanket Looks and Works Great But I’m Not 100% Impressed

Sleepline.com has spent thousands of hours researching and comparing products relating to sleep. We are serious about recommending the correct products for your individual needs. The Allseasons blanket by Amerisleep aims to keep you warm with a soft polyester polar fleece. But if you turn it on the other side, the special “chill fabric” made of polyethylene draws the heat from your skin. This way it helps your body heat dissipate so you can remain cool while you’re napping or just sitting around.

I like the design of the blanket – white with black wavy stripes on the chill side and black on the warm side. Even though it gives my eyes a treat, I know many people who aren’t fans of black and white. If they offered it in more than just one design, this throw blanket would probably be more popular.

Amerisleep Allseasons Throw Blanket Review – The Good and The Bad

The pros of Amerisleep Allseasons blanket include the fact that it can extract the heat from your body and quickly release it into thin air. The cooling effect works on contact – when the chill fabric touches your skin. If you’re in long-sleeve pajamas, it won’t be able to extract the heat well. On the other side (literally), it can warm you up if you’re cold – just flip it so the black side faces your body. The warming side will still keep you warm, no need to place it on the bare skin.

Looking at the blanket, you can really tell it’s a throw blanket – it’s small in size and quite thin. This shouldn’t trick you into thinking it’s lightweight, too. Amerisleep made this blanket weigh 7lb, so you can think of it as a cross between a weighted and normal throw blanket.

The extra weight makes it feel cozy and welcoming. It’s like a nice hug, just without it being too heavy like a weighted blanket. So, it feels great plus warming or cooling you depending on what you want. This shouldn’t be a surprise if you’re familiar with the company’s products. Amerisleep is known for using comfortable materials in their manufacturing process. Their Comfort Classic pillow is one of the coziest pillows I’ve ever slept on.

That said, it can serve as a regular blanket as well. That is, as long as you aren’t sharing it.

Here’s what I really disliked about it – although Amerisleep throw blanket can be washed in a machine, it can’t be dried in it.

Let’s say it’s warm, you’re in your summer clothes, and you’re using it daily or several times a week. Since you need it for cooling, the blanket touches a large portion of your skin. That blanket will get dirty quickly and you’ll have to wash and line-dry it often. If you put it in a duvet cover so it’s easier to wash, the chill fabric won’t be effective anymore. Also, if you’re in an apartment and don’t have enough space to dry the blanket, you’ll probably just be stuck with a filthy throw blanket. The only positive side here is that the materials are hydrophobic and should dry quickly.

Speaking of the materials, I’m actually not a fan of artificial materials. Polyester and polyethylene are technically plastics that generate static electricity – something people with long hair will not appreciate. Also, my skin just feels better with cotton.

Finally, although the blanket looks nice and features interesting technology, it’s not something I’d pay $199 for. Here’s the ideal type of customer for the Amerisleep all seasons blanket – someone who doesn’t care about plastic materials, just wants a nice-looking throw blanket to lie around the house and perform a decent job when used (which preferably wouldn’t be too often).

If this is you – go for it!

What Amerisleep Allseasons Feels Like

The white, chill side of the blanket is smooth and pleasant to touch. It feels cool but not for too long – the cooling effect lasts for 10-20 minutes and then you won’t be able to tell whether it works or not because the blanket will eventually warm up from your body. Cooling should last long enough to keep you cool until you fall asleep or while you’re just lounging.

The warm side is made of polar fleece – that’s the soft, wool-like artificial material you can find on some cozy winter clothes like jackets. It accumulates heat rather quickly. As I mentioned above, it does produce static and may get your hair all “electric” or even attract pet hairs or dirt.

When you cover yourself with the Allseasons blanket, you can feel the pressure of its weight. It’s not too heavy but is definitely heavier than any throw blanket I’ve seen and that’s a plus in my opinion. The weighty comfort is super desirable on cold days.

Size, Materials, and Care

The Allseasons Blanket measures 60” x 80”.

It weighs 7lbs and uses two types of fabrics – ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene for the cool side and polyester polar fleece for the warm side. The material ratio is 68% polyester and 32% polyethylene.

The Allseasons Throw Blanket can be washed in a machine – gentle cycle and cold water. Hang it to dry. You probably shouldn’t even try to put it in the dryer because heat and/or tumbling can damage and you’ll lose the warranty.

You can spot-clean it using a wet cloth and a bit of mild soap. Let it air-dry.

Warranty and Shipping

Amerisleep Throw Blanket has a limited warranty of 1 year. The company will replace the blanket for free if there are any cosmetic or manufacturing defects, including seams coming apart due to faulty sewing.

The Allseasons blanket will arrive at your doorstep free of charge as long as you’re in the continental part of the US. You’ll receive it within 14 days of your order.
