The Novilla AiryFlow mattress promises a lot of things. But which claims are actually true? Is it possible for one mattress to be cheap, comfortable, and long-lasting? I ran this new budget mattress through a series of hands-on performance tests to find out. Read on for my honest opinion.

Pros

  • Excellent motion isolation
  • Good for all sleeping positions
  • Pressure-relieving

Cons

  • Not great for heavier-set sleepers
  • Very poor edge support

My experience with the Novilla AiryFlow Mattress

Don’t get me wrong, I like the Novilla AiryFlow.

In fact, I like it more than a lot of other budget-friendly mattresses, but I do have a bone to pick.

Novilla tacked a lot of claims onto the AiryFlow that seem to have no basis in reality or are simply not backed by any studies, which I think is a little misleading.

Novilla AiryFlow is not bad at all considering its price point.

And I get it.

The online mattress market is saturated and at the end of the day, a brand is trying to sell a product.

But a mattress can sell itself simply by being an acceptably good product which I actually think the Novilla AiryFlow is.

I don’t recommend that you use it as your daily driver mattress but for a guest room, it would be absolutely perfect.

Firmness Test

The Novilla AiryFlow sits at a 5 on the mattress firmness scale giving it a true medium feel.

This makes it good for all sleeper types.

Who the Novilla AiryFlow mattress won’t work for are those who weigh over 250 lbs. since it’s an all-foam mattress. Heavier-set sleepers need the extra support that only a hybrid or innerspring mattress can give.

Pressure Relief and Comfort Test

We rate the Novilla AiryFlow a 7 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.

The mattress is surprisingly comfortable.

This rating would be higher had the Novilla AiryFlow been able to handle heavier-set sleepers, but for sleepers of average weight, it provides more than enough support and pressure relief.

Cooling Test

We rate the Novilla AiryFlow a 7 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.

The Novilla AiryFlow is a pure memory foam mattress, so it retains more heat than hybrids (mattresses with coils).

I’m pretty sure you already know that mattresses without springs are notorious when it comes to heat retention, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Novilla AiryFlow did not retain as much heat as I thought it would.

It’s not the best I’ve tried (by far) but it isn’t the worst either.

Motion Transfer Test

We rate the Novilla AiryFlow a 9 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.

The motion isolation on the AiryFlow is simply fantastic.

This is where the Novilla AiryFlow truly shines.

I didn’t feel any motion transfer whatsoever when I tried the mattress out with a partner.

I definitely recommend it for couples (especially if one or both of you toss and turn throughout the night).

Edge Support Test

We rate the Novilla AiryFlow a 5.5 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.

The edge support is terrible, however.

Poor edge support is a common problem in ultra-cheap memory foam mattresses. The AiryFlow is unfortunately not an exception.

The edge support is pretty much non-existent.

Construction

There are 3 layers to the Novilla AiryFlow.

These layers come encased in a cotton blend cover which Novilla calls their ‘Ice Silk’ fabric.

The Novilla AiryFlow is made out of three different foam layers.

The first comfort layer is made up of a proprietary memory foam layer that’s infused with NanoGel beads to help with temperature regulation.

Next comes a high density support foam layer that helps provide zoned support while also helping with spinal alignment.

The base layer is made up of green tea-infused support foam that not only helps give the entire mattress extra support and stability but the green tea infusion purportedly helps keep the mattress smelling clean and fresh (a dubious claim in my opinion).

The Novilla AiryFlow also has ‘3D breathable mesh sides’ which are designed to help with airflow. In reality, this is what all mattresses have on their sides (another one of those dubious marketing claims).

Like all Novilla mattresses, the AiryFlow is fiberglass-free.

Durability

For a mattress at a cheaper price point, I found the Novilla AiryFlow to hold up pretty well in terms of durability, especially with proper care and maintenance.

Sizes

The Novilla AiryFlow comes in six standard mattress sizes and measures 15 inches in thickness.

It’s also compatible with most bed frames, bases and foundations.

Novilla offers financing for all of their mattresses through Affirm.

Shipping

Novilla offers free shipping for all of their mattresses within the continental United States.

Where to buy the Novilla AiryFlow mattress

While you can find the Novilla AiryFlow at Walmart and Amazon, but the best place to buy it is from Novilla’s official website.

I always recommend buying direct from the brand when possible because it ensures that you get full warranty protection and a much better customer service experience.

Conclusion

There’s actually a decent low-cost mattress underneath all the marketing jargon.

Though it may not be the best mattress for daily use, the Novilla AiryFlow would work perfectly in kids’ bedrooms and guest bedrooms.

I won’t lie to you. This definitely isn’t going to be a buy it for life purchase. But if you need something now and you need something cheap: you could do a lot worse.
