Sleepline.com has spent thousands of hours researching and comparing products relating to sleep. We are serious about recommending the correct products for your individual needs. Amerisleep is the original mattress-in-a-box company, founded before other brands like Casper and Saatva. The company is most famous for their premium memory foam and hybrid mattresses (I personally sleep on the Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid), but they also make a line of popular bedding products including duvets, sheets, and pillows.

I’ll be reviewing the Amerisleep Comfort Classic pillow (USE COUPON CODE SLEEPLINE TO SAVE 30%) in this article. This pillow is made out of plush, soft Bio-Pur foam – the same material they use to make their award-winning mattresses. We’re huge fans of Amerisleep here at Sleepline and we’re definitely excited to see if this pillow lives up to the company’s stellar reputation.

Let’s start by determining what type of sleeper the Comfort Classic is designed for.

Who should buy an Amerisleep Comfort Classic pillow?

The Comfort Classic is a soft pillow made out of the company’s signature Bio-Pur foam, the same material that they use in their mattresses.

We like it because it offers a large amount of neck support, which is great for people who are suffering from chronic pain. It has six inches of loft but it allows your head to sink in a little bit while still remaining supportive. We think that the Amerisleep Comfort Classic is best for back sleepers, followed by side sleepers. The plush softness is great for back sleepers while side sleepers will love the elevated loft. It’s also great if you sleep on an adjustable bed, since the pillow retains it’s shape in different positions.

Amerisleep Comfort Classic also is great for people who sleep hot. The company’s memory foam uses an open-cell structure that is great for airflow and keeping you cool at night.

You should buy an Amerisleep Comfort Classic pillow if:

  • You’re a side or back sleeper
  • You’re a hot sleeper
  • You suffer from chronic pain
  • You like soft pillows
  • You have an Amerisleep mattress and want a pillow with a similar feel

Features of the Amerisleep Comfort Classic pillow

The main feature of the Comfort Classic is that it uses the same open-cell BioPur material that Amerisleep uses in their mattresses. The material is designed to increase ventilation so you can sleep cooler and also gives this pillow a soft feel. If you want a firm pillow you may want to look elsewhere. Night and airweave are great examples of firm pillows. If you want a medium pillow we recommend the Diamond. If soft pillows are more for you, then you ended up in the right place. Amerisleep makes the best soft pillow I’ve tried, hands down.

The Amerisleep Comfort Classic features six inches of loft. It’s available in king and queen sizes. The pillow is made in the USA.

When you buy a Comfort Classic directly from Amerisleep you get free shipping and free returns. Amerisleep gives you a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty to protect you from manufacturing defects.

Firmness

We rate the Amerisleep Comfort Classic as a soft pillow. Soft pillows are great for people who sleep on their side or back. If you like the feeling of “sinking in” to your pillow rather than feeling like your head is resting on top of the pillow then soft pillows like the Comfort Classic are the right choice.

The six inches of loft (height) that this pillow provides is great for providing that feeling of sinking in to your pillow. I found that it did a great job of providing that plush feel that I love in pillows while still keeping my head elevated. It’s really rare to find a soft pillow that doesn’t make you feel like you’re being smothered every time you go to sleep. Amerisleep Comfort Classic is the rare gem of a pillow that is soft, supportive, and maintains its shape over time.

Durability and Construction

The cover is made out of a soft, breathable knit material. The material that Amerisleep uses in the cover does a great job of keeping you cool. It includes a zipper for easy removal and cleaning.

The core of the Comfort Classic is made out of a single piece of BioPur foam. The foam features open-cell construction to help increase airflow. The BioPur foam is extremely responsive, meaning that it sinks in as soon as you rest your head on the pillow but bounces back immediately. Most soft pillows don’t maintain their shape over an extended period of time, but we’re happy to report that the Comfort Classic still feels like a brand new pillow after months of daily use 💪.

Bot the queen and king-sized pillows feature six inches of loft. This height is great for soft pillows since you get to sink in a little bit while still keeping your head elevated for support.

All of the materials that Amerisleep uses in constructing the Comfort Classic are certified eco-friendly by CertiPUR-US. You can rest easy knowing that your Comfort Classic is free from harmful VOCs, PBDEs, formaldehyde, and other harmful and odor-causing chemicals that are found in cheaper brands.

It’s important to note that you can’t add or remove fill in the Comfort Classic. If you’re particular about your pillow’s firmness you may want a brand with adjustable fill instead, like the Mediflow or CBD Pillow.

The Amerisleep Comfort Classic is made in the USA.

Care and Maintenance

The best way to keep your pillow clean is by unzipping the outer cover and placing it in your washing machine on the cold and gentle cycle. Remember to air dry the cover so that it doesn’t shrink!

You should avoid cleaning the core unless there is a specific stain that you need to remove. In that case you should spot clean only.

You should only need to clean the pillow once per quarter or maybe monthly depending on usage. For more details read our guide on how to clean a pillow.

Cost

The Comfort Classic is a premium pillow and is expensive. The price is similar to other premium pillows from similar brands:

  • Queen – $90 (use coupon code SLEEPLINE to save 30%)
  • King – $115 (use coupon code SLEEPLINE to save 30%)

Warranty and Trial Period

Amerisleep offers a 100-night risk-free trial period on all of their pillows. This is a standard trial period in the industry. During the first 100 nights after purchasing your Comfort Classic you can return it for a full refund for any reason. If you decide that this isn’t the pillow for you then contact Amerisleep’s customer service and they will give you details on how to get your refund.

The pillow is also backed by a 10-year warranty to protect you from manufacturing defects in workmanship or material. The warranty covers common problems like:

  • Seams coming apart
  • Cracks developing in the foam
  • Irregularly shaped foam
