Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson both tested positive for COVID-19 while filming an untitled Elvis Presley movie in Australia. One of the main symptoms that made Hanks want to get tested was that he was “feeling tired”.

What Tom Hanks had to say about his diagnosis

Hanks made the following statement about his diagnosis:

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now,  we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

We’ll keep the world posted and updated.

Take care of yourselves!”

Warner Bros. made the following statement:

“We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual. The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world.

The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently receiving treatment.”

The untitled Elvis movie is scheduled to be released on October 1st, 2021.

First celebrity to test positive for the Wuhan coronavirus

It was a matter of time before a celebrity would test positive for the disease, which the WHO recently declared a pandemic.

Hanks confirmed the news with an Instagram post after the story became public.

Some people think that the coronavirus is no big deal. But if you’re feeling stressed about the virus, remember that getting a good night of sleep is one of the best things you can do to boost your immune system. Dr. Oz recently recommended it as a step you should take to help protect yourself from coronavirus and we agree. On its own sleep isn’t enough, but combined with other strategies (like using hand sanitizer and wearing a face mask if you think you’re infected) you can reduce your chances of catching the disease.
