Why it’s the best
The Helix Midnight Luxe is my top pick for insomniacs because it simply performs well across the board.
The best thing for me would have to be its coil unit which provides zoned support that’s both responsive yet plush enough to give pressure relief, even if you suffer from back pain.
For those of you worried that it might be too soft; you get a cradled-in feel but none of the sinkage.
Another thing I liked a lot about the Helix Midnight Luxe is that it absorbs movement very well, making it an excellent choice for couples.

Helix Midnight Luxe Performance Test Results
The Helix Midnight Luxe is 6 on the mattress firmness scale which gives it a medium-firm feel.
This is usually a good firmness level for all sleeper types but in this case I found it to be a bit too soft for heavier-set back and stomach sleepers. If you’re a side or combination sleeper though, then you’re golden.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
The mattress did an excellent job at providing pressure relief and an even more amazing job at providing zoned support especially in the back and the hip areas.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 6 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
Unfortunately, I found the mattress to be heat-retentive which is why I won’t recommend it to those who sleep hot.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 10 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
This is a hybrid mattress with a layer of coils, but surprisingly I didn’t feel any motion transfer when I tried it out with a partner.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 9 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
Reinforced edge coils surround the entire mattress giving it excellent edge support.
Note that this is the mid-price mattress in the Midnight line. Depending on your budget, you can choose to downgrade to the Core Midnight or upgrade to the Midnight Elite.

How we chose these mattresses
We picked these mattresses based on a complete list of factors that we believe make up not just a great mattress that’s best for those who suffer from insomnia. We used the following criteria:
- Pressure relief – Everyone has pressure points and this is important when it comes to choosing the right mattress. Depending on a person’s sleeping position, mattress firmness can greatly affect whether you would get enough pressure relief or not. We chose mattresses that offer pressure relief.
- Cooling – Sleeping hot is the number one cause of sleeplessness. Choosing mattresses that offer superb cooling capabilities is crucial to getting a good night’s sleep.
- Firmness – Mattress firmness correlates to one’s preferred sleeping position and we chose mattresses that can suit most, if not all, sleeping positions.
- Motion isolation – Picking a mattress that offers good motion isolation is important if you share a bed with a partner. We chose mattresses that are suitable for couples.
- Edge support – Not only does edge support help (and protect) those who prefer sleeping close to the edge of the bed, having a mattress with good edge support also provides you with a wider mattress surface.
- Durability – We chose mattresses that we know would last long and ones that come with reasonable return policies.
Conclusion
These brands on this list were chosen based on objective results from performance tests in the Sleepline Testing Studio.
Hands-on sleep tests were conducted by me (a person who has serious trouble with falling asleep at night) and by several other people who have different types of insomnia to get a subjective feel for how well they relieve the symptoms.
These are the best mattresses I could find. I’m confident you’ll be satisifed no matter which one you choose.
