Serta sells a variety of different mattresses that have varying warranties. Serta mattresses come with warranties that range from one year to 20 years, depending on which model you buy. We recommend checking the code on your mattress to determine the exact length of your warranty as well as the terms and conditions.
Serta Mattress Warranty Length
Serta mattress warranties are valid for different lengths of time, depending on which mattress you buy. The length of your warranty coverage can range from one year all the way up to 20 years. If you want to find out how long your warranty coverage is good for, check the code on the tag. We highly recommend doing this before you buy your Serta mattress so you can be sure that you’re satisfied with the warranty length that you’re getting before you commit to your purchase.
Serta mattress warranty codes
- W1: 1 Year
- W92: 5 Years
- W91: 8 Years
- W9, W10F, W10S: 15 Years
- W15F, W15: 15 Years
- W20F: 20 Years
Serta mattress warranties are all non-prorated, with the exception of the W20F warranty code. This means that you won’t have to pay any fees to have your mattress repaired or replaced as long as you have a valid warranty claim.
If your mattress has a W20F warranty code, then you’ll get 10 years of non-prorated warranty coverage followed by ten years prorated. Starting at year 11, you’ll pay 1/20 of your mattress’ retail price multiplied by the number of years that you’ve owned it.
Even when you are in the non-prorated period, you’ll still have to pay for transportation costs and there may be an inspection fee.
What is Covered Under the Serta Mattress Warranty?
The types of manufacturing defects that your warranty covers depends on which specific mattress you buy. Different types of mattresses also have different types of warranty coverage.
Memory foam mattresses
Serta covers sagging or indents greater than 0.75 inches on all memory foam mattresses. If your foam mattress comes with a zippered cover, then you’ll get a 10-year warranty. Remember that you should never take the cover off your mattress, especially if the model you’re buying contains fiberglass. Make sure to check the label to determine how you should clean your mattress cover.
Hybrid and innerspring mattresses
Your Serta warranty covers loose and broken springs on your hybrid or innerspring mattress, including springs that poke through the mattress fabric. Sagging and indents that are deeper than 1.5 inches are covered as well. If your Serta mattress is an iSeries or equivalent, the warranty covers defects in the handles.
Smooth-top hybrids
If your new Serta mattress is a smooth-top hybrid; then you’ll get coverage that protects you from loose or damaged springs, even if they are sticking out through the mattress fabric. Sagging and indents that are deeper than 0.75 inches are also covered. The Serta warranty also covers defects in the handles if your mattress is an iSeries or equivalent.
What damage is excluded from warranty coverage?
Like the warranties offered by other mattress brands, the Serta warranty excludes some types of damage. If you have personal comfort preferences or experience natural softening over time, the warranty will not protect you since this is considered normal wear and tear. If you experience bent perimeter wires or damaged corner guards from improper bending or moving, then you won’t be covered.
Any type of abuse or misuse is not covered by the Serta warranty. This includes stains, spills, burns, and rips. The warranty also excludes damage caused by using an improper foundation. If you’re buying a new Serta mattress, we recommend buying a new foundation to make sure that your mattress set lasts for the length of the warranty.
The Serta company will not cover damage to the mattress cover or fabric unless you buy a memory foam version with a zippered cover. Even in this specific circumstance, you can still void your warranty if you don’t follow the manufacturer care instructions when cleaning it.
Replacement terms
If you have a defective mattress that is covered by the warranty, then Serta will repair or replace it at their discretion. Serta won’t charge you a fee to repair or replace your new mattress, but you may have to pay for transportation and/or inspection.
If the mattress you purchased is a discontinued model, Serta will replace it with a brand new mattress of similar value and quality. Serta may also choose to repair your mattress, in which case they will use materials that are similar to the original materials.
Serta will only repair or replace the defective portion of your mattress set. If you bought a complete sleep set that includes a frame or foundation but the problem is only with your mattress, then they will only repair the mattress.
How to Make a Serta Mattress Warranty Claim
If you believe that you have a valid warranty claim, first contact the retailer where you bought your sleep set from. Instead of handling their warranty claims directly, Serta authorizes their retail partners to handle them on its behalf.
If the retailer doesn’t honor your warranty claim, then you can contact Serta customer service directly at 1-888-557-3782.
Serta Floor Model Warranty Coverage
The Serta mattress warranty doesn’t apply to floor or demo models. These mattresses are sold ‘as-is’, meaning that you assume all of the risk associated with potential defects. The Serta warranty also does not apply if you buy a promotional item or bed from a non-authorized retailer.

Can you flip a Serta mattress?

What products does Serta sell?
Serta is one of the most popular mattress manufacturers in the world. They sell a wide variety of innerspring, hybrid, and memory foam mattresses at different price points. You can get a mattress at different firmness levels ranging from soft to firm. They also sell mattresses in a variety of different thickness options.
You can also buy a Serta-branded box spring, bed frame, or complete sleep set (mattress and foundation). The company’s products are available on Serta’s website, Amazon, online mattress retailers, and brick-and-mortar retailers.
Serta mattresses do not have a delivery fee. They include free white glove shipping with each order, meaning that a worker will bring the mattress directly to your bedroom and set it up for you. White glove delivery also includes old mattress removal.
Conclusion
Serta mattresses are covered by a warranty that can be more or less generous than competing companies, depending on which model you buy. Companies like Amerisleep, Saatva, and Idle Sleep offer standardized warranties. The Beautyrest mattress warranty is very similar to the one offered by Serta, on the other hand.
If you want to determine the length of your Serta mattress warranty, check the law tag on the bottom of your mattress for a code that will tell you how long it lasts. You may have to pay prorated fees or for shipping and inspection when making a warranty claim.
Before you buy a Serta mattress – or other similar brand – make sure you are satisfied with the warranty protection so you can sleep easily knowing that your purchase is protected.
