Noa is a Canadian-owned furniture company that makes beds, sofas, bedding and mattresses. If you’re looking for a quality hybrid mattress that won’t break the bank, the Noa mattress may be right for you. Designed in Canada, with distribution centers in the United Kingdom and Asia Pacific, Noa mattresses are drawing rave reviews despite being fairly new in the mattress in a box game. Is this brand worth buying?
Shopping for mattresses can be difficult enough but buying a mattress online can be even more daunting. In the United Kingdom, the mattress in a box is still somewhat of a fairly new concept but since 2020 – which saw the exponential increase of online shopping shoot up to almost 70% – it is a concept that people are fully embracing. Noa is one of the first mattress manufacturers to make its foray into the UK market and today, they have become one of the trailblazers, leaving other mattress companies in the dust.

Noa pros and cons
|Suitable for most sleeper types||Can be a bit too firm for more petite sleepers|
|REACH certified||Only available in select countries|
|Excellent edge support||May not be suitable for strict side sleepers|
|Plush pillow top|
Hybrid mattresses have become the world’s favorite alternative to innerspring mattresses. Featuring a base layer of individually wrapped premium pocket springs, the original Noa mattress provides a sleep quality that is on par with high end mattress brands without the high end price tag.
Who should buy the Noa mattress?
- Back and stomach sleepers, combination sleepers
- Those who tend to sleep hot
- Couples with different sleeping styles
- People transitioning from innerspring mattresses
- Those who sleep with a restless partner
Compared to other hybrid mattresses, the Noa mattress feel is slightly firmer than the average medium firm feel. It falls on a 7 – 8 from a firmness level scale of 1 to 10. That said, firmness levels are subjective and it all depends on the sleeper’s weight and sleeping position. Those who are heavier than 250 lbs. may find the Noa mattress to be more on the medium side while those who are petite may find it to be firmer.
Stomach and back sleepers get more support from a firmer mattress as opposed to sleeping on a soft mattress because back and stomach sleepers tend to receive more pressure on their hips, backs and necks.
The Noa mattress provides deep pressure relief whilst keeping the back straight and aligned, which is crucial for those who sleep only on their backs or stomachs. Side sleepers, on the other hand, would find that the Noa mattress may be a little too firm for their liking.
The Noa mattress is comprised of 4 internal layers and is topped with a hand-tufted, breathable pillowtop Tencel mattress cover. Tencel has antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties. The hand-tufted pillowtop provides an extra layer of comfort while helping to minimize body impressions over time. The tufting also prevents wrinkles in the cover while securing all comfort and support layers within the mattress. The mattress cover however, is not removable and non-washable – this could be an issue for some people, especially those who prefer to keep their mattresses fresh by washing the covers frequently.
The comfort top layer is made up of cooling gel memory foam that helps wick away heat while contouring and cushioning your body where you need it the most. Being a combination sleeper who tends to sleep mostly on my stomach, I found that the Noa mattress provided the hip support that I needed. The cooling memory foam comfort layer is an added bonus although I wouldn’t say that the Noa mattress was the ‘coolest’ mattress that I have tried.
Right beneath the memory foam layer sits Noa’s proprietary AirCell foam cushion latex layer that provides bounce, comfort and breathability. Compared to regular foam, natural latex foam is buoyant, extremely responsive and highly supportive for your back, shoulders and hips – all the main pressure areas. Because of its AirCell technology – which replaces the traditional memory foam with millions of individually constructed air pockets – the Noa mattress’ natural latex layer also helps keep the mattress cool and fresh by allowing air to flow continuously all throughout.
The transition layer features a layer of adaptive transitional foam that helps prevent motion transfer. This high density foam layer provides zero partner disturbance when sleeping which is highly crucial when sleeping with a partner who tends to move about a lot. I sleep alone but have a cat who likes to jump around the bed during ungodly hours and I found that the mattress did a great job in keeping motion transfer at bay. The Noa mattress is probably the closest we could get to an all foam mattress since Noa does not offer one at the moment.
The Noa mattress’ base layer is made up of individually pocketed steel springs. These thick pocket springs are encased in a highly permeable mesh material, which allows air flow and breathability. The springs are made of thick gauge steel which ensures maximum durability and stability. Because of its premium pocket springs, the Noa mattress also offers excellent edge support.
All these layers are surrounded by a hand-tufted side perimeter that shares the same detail as a breathable, poly-knit quilt. Just like its hand-tufted pillow top mattress cover, the side perimeter helps lessen wrinkles in the mattress fabric as well as keeping all the layers in place whilst reinforcing the already excellent edge support.
All of the foam layers in the Noa mattress are REACH certified, an equivalent to the USA’s CertiPur certification. All the layers are bound together with a water based adhesive, which also helps in heat retention. The Tencel fabric covers are OEKO-TEX certified.
The Noa mattress measures 28 cm (11 inches) thick and comes in 5 UK sizes and 4 Standard sizes.
- Single – 90 x 190 x 28 cm
- Small Double – 120 x 190 x 28 cm
- Double – 135 x 190 x 28 cm
- King – 150 x 200 x 28 cm
- Super King – 180 x 200 x 28 cm
- Twin – 99 x 190 x 28 cm
- Full – 137 x 190 x 28 cm
- Queen – 152 x 203 x 28 cm

Noa Lite pros and cons
|Simple design||Only available in select countries|
|Great for strict back and stomach sleepers||May be a bit too thin of a mattress for some|
|REACH certified||Not suitable for strict side sleepers or combination sleepers|
|Perfect for hot sleepers|
So named because it is a few centimetres thinner than its two other siblings, the Noa Lite mattress is a hybrid mattress that features just 3 internal layers. But don’t be fooled by its seemingly simple composition – it still packs quite a punch.
Who should buy the Noa Lite mattress?
- Strict stomach and back sleepers
- Those who sleep hot
- Those who prefer coil beds
- Those who are transitioning from an innerspring mattress
- Those who prefer to sleep on a firm bed
The Noa Lite has a firmness level of 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. This makes it a medium firm mattress although it would feel firmer for sleepers who weigh significantly light. Heavier sleepers (heavier than 250 lbs.) would find the Noa Lite to be more of a medium feel.
This is a great option for strict stomach and back sleepers who prefer a no-frills mattress that gives adequate support. Couples who share the same sleeping position but have a partner that tosses and turns about throughout the night (or a partner with a small bladder) would love this mattress as it deadens any movement due to its firm feel. Unfortunately, strict side sleepers would find this mattress a tad uncomfortable, especially on the shoulders, where they need extra support the most.
Even with its simple, no-nonsense construction, the Noa Lite mattress is quite a comfortable mattress to sleep on, partly due to its hand-tufted pillowtop cover. Similar to the original Noa mattress, the Noa Lite’s cover is made out of Tencel, which is soft, breathable and hypoallergenic.
This mattress also features gel infused memory foam comfort and support layer that provides not only has cooling capabilities but also gives deep pressure relief where you would need it the most. The REACH certified foam helps prevent heat buildup, helping you sleep cool through the night.
Again, much like the Noa mattress, the Noa Lite has an adaptive transitional foam layer made out of high density foam. This also acts as an additional support layer that helps isolate motion from either a partner or a very active pet.
The Noa Lite’s base layer features a supportive and durable premium pocketed coils that are individually wrapped to help lessen motion transfer even more. Compared to all foam mattresses, hybrid mattresses are somewhat notorious for being a bit too springy but we have found that the Noa Lite brought zero partner disturbance which was a definite plus in our book. The Noa Lite’s pocket springs are made from thick gauge steel which not only contributes to better edge support compared to other mattresses but adds to the mattress’ overall longevity.
Although comfortable – especially for me as a stomach sleeper – the Noa Lite is only 25 cm (9 inches) thick, which was a bit too thin to what I’m used to. If you don’t mind a thin mattress, that’s great but if you would like something a bit thicker, I suggest you look at Noa’s other mattress offerings.
All of Noa’s mattresses are REACH certified and OEKO-TEX certified and are guaranteed to be low in VOCs emissions for indoor air quality.

Noa Luxe pros and cons
|Excellent for all sleeper types||May be a bit too firm for petite sleepers|
|REACH certified||Only available in select countries|
|Great for those who sleep hot|
|Zero motion disturbance|
The Noa mattress range would certainly be amiss without a luxury offering and the Noa Luxe hybrid mattress definitely brings luxury to the table – and then some. Featuring a new innovation that not many companies have even dreamed of, the Noa mattress is the only mattress in the UK thus far that features micro coils. I think it’s safe to say that for me, the Noa Luxe would be the best mattress out of all three.
Who should buy the Noa Luxe mattress?
- Back, stomach and combination sleepers
- Those who tend to sleep hot
- Those who have no objection in spending a little bit more for a mattress
We have found that the Noa Luxe mattress has a medium to medium firm feel. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Noa Luxe falls on a 7-8, making it a great option for all types of sleepers. Bear in mind that strict back sleepers who weigh less than 150 lbs may find it a smidge too firm as mattress firmness levels vary depending on body size, weight and sleep position.
Combination sleepers though, would find the Noa Luxe more than suitable. This makes it an excellent choice for those who share a bed with either a partner or a heavy pet.
Although the Noa Luxe is designed for all sleeper types, those who are used to sleeping on an extra soft mattress may not like the slightly firmer than medium feel.
By far the most souped up mattress in Noa’s current mattress range, the Noa Luxe has 5 internal layers – all encased within a Tencel cover and a poly-knit blend for its perimeter. Tencel, as we know, is anti-microbial and hypoallergenic. It is also super soft and ultra breathable and in addition to its already luxe properties, the Noa Luxe mattress cover features a cloud-like, hand-tufted pillowtop, which honestly made us feel as though we were sleeping on a cloud. I certainly did.
Tucked beneath the Tencel cover is an open-cell layer of gel infused memory foam that contours to the body while helping you feel cool and refreshed through the night. Right underneath the cooling gel memory foam layer is a comfort layer made up of REACH certified, open-cell memory foam that helps provide cushioning, contouring and pressure relief. This, along with the gel memory foam top layer provides exceptional cooling properties that would definitely get you a comfortable night’s sleep. I have to say that Noa Luxe mattress would have to be the coolest mattress I’ve slept on out of all the three.
Right in the middle lies a layer of proprietary micro coils that act as an advanced support and comfort layer that expands and contracts in response to the pressure of your body. Also designed to maximize breathability, the micro coils, like its pocket springs, come individually wrapped in a permeable mesh material that allows for continuous air flow. Did I feel the difference provided by the micro coils? I’m sure I did but probably not as much as I would have expected to. There was just that little extra something.
A transition layer of high density foam lies atop the Noa Luxe’s coil base layer. This helps lessen motion transfer while keeping the pocket springs in place. The base layer of the Noa Luxe mattress is made up of 5 areas of ergonomic zoned support which are strategically positioned under your lower back and hips to help keep your spine properly aligned. Like with all of Noa’s coil bases, the Noa Luxe’s springs are made from thick gauge steel that are individually encased in a mesh material that is designed to increase air flow and breathability. This also helps your mattress last for a very long time and minimizes partner disturbance.
Keeping all the layers together is hand-tufted side perimeter made out of a breathable but firmer fabric. This gives the Noa Luxe a bit more edge support. Out of all the three Noa mattresses that I’ve tried, the Noa Lite would have to be my favorite. Was it the micro coils, the ergonomic zoned support or that it was the thickest out of all three? All of the above.
All of Noa’s mattresses are REACH certified and OEKO-TEX certified and are guaranteed to be low in VOCs emissions.
The Noa Luxe mattress measures 30 cm (12 inches) thick and comes in 5 UK sizes and 4 Standard sizes.
- Single – 90 x 190 x 30 cm
- Small Double – 120 x 190 x 30 cm
- Double – 135 x 190 x 30 cm
- King – 150 x 200 x -30 cm
- Super King – 180 x 200 x 30 cm
- Twin – 99 x 190 x 30 cm
- Full – 137 x 190 x 30 cm
- Queen – 152 x 203 x 30 cm
- King – 193 x 203 x 30 cm
Aside from the 100 night trial, where you can try the Noa Luxe out in the comfort of your own home, Noa also offers a 15 year warranty. All of Noa’s mattresses are shipped free of charge. Because Noa is fairly new in the mattress in a box industry, we have yet to wear out its 15 year warranty but so far, so good. Noa recommends using a mattress protector as soon as you receive your new mattress. Also, clean your mattress immediately should any spills or accidents happen.
A few key things about UK mattress sizes
There are minute but notable differences between mattresses in the US and the UK. Everything is measured in metric as opposed to America’s imperial (that’s centimetres rather than feet, you heathen). Mattress sizes, although measuring the same, have very different names – Single, Small double, Double, King, and Super King but with a glaring absence of a Queen – the UK and Ireland are the only two countries in the world who do not recognize the Queen sized bed as a standard bed size.
But since Noa is a Canadian mattress brand that also caters to Canada, Singapore and Australia, they have included standard sized options if you are mattress shopping from that part of the world.
|UK (centimetres)||USA (inches)|
|Single - 90 x 190||Twin -38" W x 74" L|
|Small Double - 120 x 190||Twin XL -38" W x 80" L|
|Double - 135 x 190||Full - 54" W x 75" L|
|King - 150 x 200||Queen - 60" W x 80" L|
|Super King - 180 x 200||King - 76" W x 80" L|
|Cal King - 72" W x 84" L|
|Split King - 38" W x 80" L|
