The Chilipad Dock Pro is a sleep tech product that the manufacturer claims can help prevent you from overheating at night. As a hot sleeper, this is something I was really excited to try out. Does it work or are the claims BS? I ran this high-tech (and expensive) bed cooling system through a series of hands-on performance tests to find out. Here’s what I thought.

My experience with the Chilipad Dock Pro bed cooling system
Mattress cooling tech isn’t anything new – in fact, it’s been around for a while. There are tons of products out there that claim they offer the solution to overheating at night.
Many of them expensive, very expensive. Especially with ones that come with a subscription service.
Luckily the Chilipad Dock Pro is one of the few that doesn’t require an ongoing monthly fee to keep using it.
That’s a HUGE plus in my book.
The Chilipad Dock Pro is a mattress temperature-regulating system that, simply put, helps you sleep cool when it’s hot and sleep warm when it’s cold.
Most cooling systems out on the market today just offer cooling and I like that the Chilipad Dock Pro offers both.
Setting up the Chilipad Dock Pro took mere minutes – once you unbox it, you simply have to place it on top of your mattress just like a mattress cover or a mattress topper ( I delve more into setting the system up below).
Although the Chilipad Dock Pro does not feature biometric tech that intuitively reads your body temperature, you won’t miss it because the temperature stays consistent throughout the night.
Appearance Test
We rate the Chilipad Dock Pro a 9.5 out of 10 when it comes to appearance.
Small and compact, the Chilipad Dock Pro is discreet and can fit underneath any bed as long as the underbed height is 6 inches or higher. You can even place it on your nightstand and it will be pretty unobtrusive.
The cover itself comes in a light gray/dark gray color which is i know is pretty boring but you will be covering it with sheets anyhow (unless you’re a barbarian who sleeps on a bare bed) so aesthetics aren’t really the focus here.
How it feels is what matters and you honestly won’t feel a thing – it feels just like a slightly thicker mattress topper.
Aside from the topper and control unit that looks, in my honest opinion, very much like a compact game console, included in the box are the tubes that connect the console to the topper itself plus a packet of water cleaner which helps keep the water in the console from getting moldy.
You get to choose between two options, a single (ME) or dual (WE) console which is pretty self explanatory and which, I believe, is a nice touch.
No one gets left behind.
Ease of Setup Test
We rate the Chilipad Dock Pro a 9 out of 10 when it comes to ease of setup.
Setting up the Chilipad Dock Pro is very straightforward and only takes a couple of minutes.
Place the Chilipad dock Pro topper onto the mattress, ensuring that it fits on all sides and that nothing is loose.
Then, fill the console with distilled (never tap) water and empty the contents of the water cleaner into the water as well.
It wasn’t obvious exactly how much water I would have to put into the unit. I found that I had to keep filling the cup and emptying it into the reservoir multiple times before the unit was full.
Definitely not a huge deal, but I do wish there were instructions included that made this more obvious because at first I wasn’t sure if I was doing something wrong.
Connect the tubes to both the console and the topper, plug it in, and program your preferred temperature either through the on-unit controls or through the SleepMe app and you’re good to go.
All in all it took me a good 5 minutes.
Temperature Regulation Test
We rate the Chilipad Dock Pro a 9 out of 10 when it comes to temperature regulation.
You not only have the option to cool but to warm as well.
The temperate setting can be controlled through the app or through the on-unit controls.
For the dual (WE) option, if you and your partner have different sleeping temperature preferences, you can customize each side individually which is one of the main things I like about the Chilipad Dock Pro.
Once installed, the Chilipad Dock Pro cools or warms almost instantaneously. I definitely appreciated the lack of lag.
I’m also happy to report that the Chilipad Dock Pro is pretty quiet, bordering on noiseless even.
Sleep Tracker
The Chilipad Dock Pro does not have a dedicated sleep tracker per se but Sleepme does offer a sleep tracker through the Sleepme app which you can use in conjunction with the Chilipad systems.
Cost
We rate the Chilipad Dock Pro a 7.5 out of 10 when it comes to value for money.
I’m not going to beat around the bush here: the Chilipad Dock Pro is expensive.
Very expensive.
But unlike other mattress cooling tech systems, it does not rely on a subscription method to keep working.
You purchase it and you use it for as long as it works. And that, I believe, keeps it cost-effective compared to other brands.
And yes, the app to control it is free.

You get a 30-day free trial when you buy the Chilipad Dock Pro.
This free trial starts the day you receive the package in the mail.
In the event that you would want to return it, you can only do so within this 30-day trial period.

Evolution of the Chilipad Dock Pro and Previous Versions
The Chilipad Dock Pro is the latest iteration of Sleepme’s cooling sleep system.
The first version, which back then was not yet known as the Chilipad that we know today, was introduced in 2007.
The second system, the Chilipad Cube, was introduced in 2017 while the OOLER sleep system was then introduced in 2019.
The Chilipad Dock Pro was first introduced in 2022.
