Our experience with Natural Form Refresh Mattress
If you prefer a thick mattress because you are a back pain sufferer, you might want to look at the Natural Form’s award-winning Refresh mattress. The Refresh mattress has adjustable firmness levels meaning it can be suitable for all types of sleepers – stomach, back, side, or combination depending upon the firmness level you choose. We found the mattress cooling enough to wick away heat throughout the night. The mattress has a great motion isolation capability, making it a great pick for couples with a fidgety partner. The mattress has a soft feel to it but the firmness level is adjustable.
Firmness
The firmness level of the Refresh mattress can vary between 5-8 depending upon how you adjust it. The Refresh mattress is more supportive compared to Natural Form’s other mattresses. Heavier sleepers in particular will find ample support because of the significant amount of air pods in the mattress.
Strict stomach sleepers might find the Refresh mattress a bit softer compared to what they should be accustomed to. Soft mattresses let the stomach sink into the mattress which can result in back pain. They should ideally look for a firmer mattress like Amerisleep’s AS2. However, as a combination sleeper, I felt well-supported on the mattress.
The Refresh mattress offers support and pressure relief through its exclusive air pods technology. If you have been suffering from back pain or spinal issues, the mattress might be a solid choice for you.
The Refresh mattress offers reasonable motion isolation making it suitable for couples with restless partners or fidgety pets. We found that the mattress offers the best bits of both an air bed and a memory foam mattress.
Construction
The Refresh mattress is an 11″ tall mattress and consists of 4 layers:
- Mattress cover
- Comfort layer
- Air pod system
- Firmness control base
The Refresh mattress is encased in Australian natural Merino wool, that has been proven to be temperature regulating. Below the cover sits a comfort layer of the Refresh that is composed of a hybrid foam blend – more responsive and firm than memory foam.
The Refresh mattress’ air pod system can house up to 80 pods on each side – depending upon the mattress size. The Refresh model carries 10 times more air pods compared to the Garden mattress of the Natural Form mattresses. The technology of air pods is patented by the Natural Form and is exclusively available in their mattresses.
The air pods are manually controlled by the sleeper through external dual sided dials. You can set the firmness level that is right for you very easily. If you are a medium-firm mattress lover like myself, you can twist a dial on the mattress and set the firmness level.
Natural Form recommends to keep the bed on its ‘optimum setting’ which is a setting that actually conforms to your weight and body shape. They recommend to keep it on this setting for the first two weeks to reflect the correct volume and pressure to displace your body weight.
The air pod system is encased in a base that keeps them and upper layers of the mattress intact. Unlike regular air beds, the base makes the mattress a bit more stable and sturdy.
Sizes
The Refresh mattresses are available in 9 sizes. The mattress is 11″ thick and compatible with most bed bases, bed frames and bases but Natural Form recommends that it works best with adjustable beds.

#2. Brooklyn Bedding Sedona Mattress
Check Current Price | Best for All Sleeper Types
Pros
- Suitable for all side sleepers
- Soft
- Great motion isolation
- Sleeps cool
Cons
- Not suitable for heavy weight sleepers
- Weak edge support
Who should buy Brooklyn Bedding Sedona Mattress
- Lightweight and average weight sleepers
- People suffering from shoulder and hip pain
- Couples
- People who prefer soft mattress
Our experience with Brooklyn Bedding Sedona Mattress
The Brooklyn Bedding Sedona mattress is a hybrid mattress that’s a little bit on the softer side. The mattress is a great pick for strict side sleepers if you are looking for an excellent full XL memory foam mattress. The “pillow top” feature of the mattress and soft response memory foam layers makes it great for pressure relief and low motion transfer. The mattress is not suitable for strict stomach or back sleepers because they need a firm mattress for a better spinal alignment. The minimal motion transfer makes it a great choice for couples as well.
Firmness
After trying out the Brooklyn Bedding Sedona mattress, we rated it a 5/10 on a mattress firmness scale confirming it be a medium-soft mattress. Light to average weight side sleepers will find this mattress comfortable as their shoulders and hips will find just about right ‘sink’ into the mattress. However, heavier-set side sleepers will end up building pressure on their shoulders and hips as they sink too deep into the mattress.
The mattress has a great motion isolation capability making it an excellent pick for couples looking for a soft mattress. If your partner tosses and turns a lot or if you have a pet, you might want to give this mattress a try.
We didn’t find reasonable edge support while trying out the Brooklyn Bedding Sedona mattress. If you are a strict edge sleeper, I wouldn’t recommend you to opt for this mattress. You should probably try Layla mattress.
Construction
The construction of the Brooklyn Bedding Sedona mattress is quite extensive. The mattress is 10″ thick and includes 6 layers:
- Top layer
- Memory foam layer
- Memory foam layer (Dense)
- Transition foam layer
- Support layer
- Base layer
The cover of the Brooklyn Bedding Sedona mattress is quilted memory foam top layer that is made up of a patented phase-change material. It is cool and soft to the touch. The cooling panel used for quilting helps regulate temperature and also helps you sleep cool.
The first two layers consist of a 2″ thick higher-density memory foam layer and a 1″ layer of proprietary hyper-dense slow-response memory foam – both of which are gel-infused. These layers not only provide response and comfort to the sleeper but also helps keep the mattress cool.
A transition layer of 1″ high-density foam encases the individually wrapped 8″ coil system base of up to 1,032 Ascension X® coils. The coil system provides excellent motion transfer and support.
The Sedona mattress has one inch thick high-density base that adds durability to the mattress while reinforcing individually encased coils as they compress.
Sizes
Sedona mattresses are available in 9 sizes. The mattress is 14″ thick and is compatible with most bed bases, bed frames and foundations, including an adjustable bed base.

Check Current Price | Best for Stomach + Back Sleepers
Pros
- Supportive
- Great for back pain
- Responsive
- Custom sizes available
Cons
- Not thick enough for some people
- Too soft for some people
Who should buy Mattress-Insider Park Meadow Mattress
- Above-average-weight stomach and back sleepers
- People suffering from back pain
- Couples
- People who like hybrid mattresses
Our experience with Park Meadow Mattress
The Park Meadow mattress by Mattress Insider is one of the most affordable innerspring mattresses available online. We found the mattress to be a great choice for people who tend to sleep hot. It’s a compact mattress available in custom sizes. We found the mattress to be more suitable for people who are average to heavy weight back and stomach sleepers.
Firmness
The Park Meadow mattress is a hybrid mattress with a firmness of 8/10 on the mattress firmness scale. It is firm enough to support average to heavy weight back and stomach sleepers. The firmness of the mattress helps the sleepers retain their natural spinal alignment.
The mattress is responsive and supportive. The extra-firm feel of the mattress comes from the hybrid supportive coil base that offers targeted back support to keep your spine in perfect alignment. The firmness provides ample support for the hips and the lower back.
The mattress is not a great pick for side sleepers. If you are a strict side sleeper you should probably check out OkiSoft mattress.
The Park Meadow mattress offers great motion isolation for sleepers who share their bed with a partner. The pocketed coil base along with soy foam conforms to the sleeper and increases support around the body.
Construction
The Park Meadow mattress is 8″ tall and consists of two layers:
- Transition foam layer
- Support layer
The top layer of the Park Meadow is 1″ thick soy foam quilted knit cover with a suede border. The cover of the mattress is also double insulated to prevent coil feel. The quilted layers ensures you are sleeping on cushion firm mattress.
Right below the top layer sits an inch of eco-friendly soy foam that acts as a transition layer that helps conform to your body and gives support. The open cell structure of soy foam helps the mattress sleep cool. For people who tend to sleep hot, this could be a great pick.
Below the transition foam layer, there is a 6″ thick innerspring base that has three times more individually pocketed coils than most hybrid bed models. The heavy-duty innerspring base rests on a non-skid fabric bottom that also prevents your mattress from slipping.
Sizes
The mattress is 8″ tall and is available in 20 sizes along with custom size option. The non-traditional sizes offered by Mattress Insider includes bunk bed mattresses in various sizes.
Durability
The Mattress Insider mattress offers a 20-year warranty and a 121-night trial period. All the mattresses that feature coil on coil construction last for a very long time.

#4. Natural Form Garden Mattress
Check Current Price | Best for Back Pain | $100 Off Coupon Code: Sleepline100
Pros
- Adjustable firmness level
- Great for all sleeper types
- Great for back pain
Cons
- Might be to soft for some people
- Too thin for some people
Who should buy Natural Form Refresh
- Back, stomach and combination sleepers
- People suffering from back pain
- Couples with same sleeping styles
- People who like adjustable firmness
Our experience with Natural Form Garden Mattress
The Natural Form’s Garden mattress is similar to its Refresh model. Similar to an air bed, the Garden mattress makes you feel weightless and takes off pressure from the main pressure points and relieves pain. The mattress has adjustable firmness controls, which gives you an option to choose the firmness level as per your preference. The Garden mattress is a great choice for most sleeper types as the feel of the mattress is firm but adjustable.
Firmness
The Garden mattress skews towards medium to medium-firm depending upon how you adjust the controls. The ability of the sleeper to self-adjust firmness level makes it a suitable fit for all sleeper types- stomach, back, and combination.
Strict lightweight side sleepers will have difficulty adjusting to the Garden mattress and they should opt for a softer mattress. Soft mattress helps side sleepers limit pressure buildup in shoulders and hips. Strict side sleepers can probably try the Dreamcloud mattress for a restful night.
The Garden mattress offers no sink-in feeling, the coddled feel of the mattress makes it a great option for those who suffer from chronic pain such as fibromyalgia.
Having said that, some average-weight sleepers may find the Garden mattress a bit too soft for their preference. However, at the end of the day it totally depends on what type and height of mattress you prefer. The Garden mattress might also not be thick enough for people who like tall mattresses.
The Garden mattress is inherently more responsive compared to a memory foam mattresses. It offers excellent motion isolation to people who are easily disturbed by the movement on the other side of the bed. It is noticeably less springier than innerspring mattresses making it an excellent fit for people who share their bed with a partner or a pet.
Construction
The Garden mattress composition is same as the Refresh model of the Natural Form. The mattress is a 11″ tall and consists of 4 layers:
- Mattress cover
- Comfort layer
- Air pod system
- Firmness control base
The Garden mattress features a mix of foam layers between its air chambers. The top layer is made up of Merino wool for temperature control.
The comfort layer is built with CertiPUR US high resilience foam meaning its free from any harmful substances. This foam layer is more responsive compared to the regular memory foam adding contour to the body of the sleeper and giving pressure relief.
Underneath the comfort layer sits the air pod chambers – 8 on each side. These air pods not only offer support but relieve pain and pressure as well. There are dual-side dials for firmness control on both sides of the mattress to control these chambers. The componentized air chambers help the mattress last longer without any damage of leaks.
It might take you a while to adjust sleeping on a Natural Form’s adjustable bed if you are not used to air beds. The Garden mattress is probably the “techiest” mattress we have tried so far. The air chambers are encased in a polyfoam base that keeps them together while providing a sturdy and durable base for the whole bed.
Sizes
The Garden mattresses are available in 9 sizes. The mattress is 11″ thick and compatible with most bed bases, bed frames and bases but Natural Form recommends that it works best with adjustable beds.

#5. Brooklyn Bedding Chill Mattress
Check Current Price | Best for Hot Sleepers
Pros
- Suitable for all sleeper types below the weight of 230 lbs
- Sleeps cool
- Great motion isolation
Cons
- Not suitable for heavyweight stomach sleepers
- Weak edge support
Who should buy Brooklyn Bedding Chill Mattress
- People who sleep hot
- Light-to-average-weight sleepers
- Couples
- Light sleepers
Our experience with Brooklyn Bedding Chill Mattress
The Chill mattress is one of the most affordable bed-in-a-box mattresses available online. It comes in five different heights to cater to various sleeping positions and body types. The thicker versions have a more luxurious feel compared to the thin ones.
The thicker version of the Chill mattress can be a great fit for side sleepers as it offers ample cushioning around the pressure points. The thin versions of the Chill mattress are more suitable for stomach and back sleepers.
As the name suggests, the mattress is cooling and ideal for people who tend to sleep hot. The mattress will be well-suited for couples or people who share the bed as it offers great motion isolation.
Firmness
The Chill’s firmness level depends on the height you choose for your mattress. The models that are 6″ and 8″ sit at 6-8/10 on a mattress firmness scale making them medium-firm to firm respectively. The Chill’s 10″ thick mattress is medium-firm sitting at 5-7/10 on a firmness scale; thick versions – 12″ and 14″ are 3-5/10 making them medium to medium-soft respectively.
The Chill’s taller versions are softer providing extra contouring and pressure relief at the shoulders and hips compared to thinner variants. These 5 variants offer variety of options to all types of sleepers depending on body type and sleeping position.
The firmer versions of the Chill mattress are most-suited to stomach and back sleepers, whereas the softer/taller Chill mattress is a great pick for side sleepers.
The Chill is probably not the best choice if you are a combination sleepers as you will experience a “stuck in the mud” feel while tossing and turning. The mattress is supportive but not that responsive or bouncy. People with mobility issues should check out Awara mattresses.
Construction
The Brooklyn Bedding Chill mattress is a memory foam bed with simple composition. The mattress consists of following layers:
- Memory foam layer
- Transition layer (8″ and above)
- Foundation layer
The Chill has a top layer made up of environmentally-friendly Nano Stain terminator finish. The cover helps the mattress protect itself from splashes, spills and permanent stains. This is a great option if you share your bed with your kids.
Below the cover sits a primary comfort layer of 2″-3″ thick (depending on mattress height) gel swirl memory foam. This slow moving memory foam provides contouring and cooling to the sleeper. The open cell technology used in each foam layer provides increased airflow and breathability to the Chill mattress.
Next to the comfort layer is a premium VariFlex™ transition foam layer that is available only in thickest versions (12″ and 14″). This layer ensures gentle transition of memory foam to the high-density foam base. The addition of the transition foam layer adds a more plush feel and cushion to the thick variants of the Chill.
The support layer of the Chill mattress is made up of high-density base foam giving the mattress its structure and sturdiness. The support layer is of significant importance for spinal support and alignment.
The 10” model is a dual-layer mattress, designed for a medium-firm sleep experience. The added contouring and a firmer core can be beneficial to combination, stomach and back sleepers.
Sizes
The Brooklyn Bedding Chill mattress is available in 5 thickness options. The mattress is available in a generous 20 sizes including 10 RV mattress (king and bunk) sizes.
Durability
The Brooklyn Bedding mattresses are backed by 10-year warranty and a 120-day trial period. Brooklyn Bedding offers free shipping and returns for the mattresses within the United States. All of their mattresses are entirely made in the USA.
