Pros and cons
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Active cooling | May be too thin for some people |
Good motion isolation | Not for heavier individuals |
Suitable for all sleeper types | Slight off-gassing |
Part of Sleepy’s extensive memory foam mattress offering, the Snug mattress is a mattress that caters to all sleeper types due to its medium feel. This means that back, stomach, combination and side sleepers would equally feel supported and comfortable sleeping on the Snug mattress.
There are only three layers to the Snug mattress and because it is an all-foam mattress, all these layers are made up of foam. The top comfort layer of the Snug mattress is made up of charcoal-infused memory foam that helps wick away heat and moisture. This memory foam layer also helps keep any unwanted odors away as charcoal is also known for absorbing musty and malodorous scents. This layer is made up of conforming foam that molds to the body shape for maximum pressure relief. Memory foam lovers will definitely appreciate the snug, cuddly feel.
Right underneath that is an active cooling, gel-infused memory foam layer that not only helps with comfort and support but helps those who sleep hot stay cool throughout the night. Memory foam does get a bad rep for its tendency to trap heat but the Snug mattress’ double cool combo of charcoal and cooling gel seems to do the trick. Although not the most cooling mattress we’ve tried thus far, the Snug mattress still did a pretty good job of keeping us cool. For its price point, it’s a pretty cool mattress.
The base layer of the Snug mattress is made up of high density core foam that acts as the support layer while keeping all the other layers intact. Memory foam already does a great job at isolating motion and because of its true memory foam feel and no added bounce, we experienced no motion transfer – even with an extra bouncy cat. This makes it a good choice fo those who shared a bed with a partner.
There are a few key things that may be a deal breaker for some people when it comes to Sleepy’s Snug mattress. First of all, compared to other memory foam mattresses on the market, the Snug mattress is slightly on the thinner side of the spectrum, measuring only 8″ tall. People who prefer a thicker memory foam mattress could look into getting a thick mattress like the Nolah Signature 12 mattress. Secondly, if you’re someone who likes sleeping on the edge of the bed, then you may want to look into a mattress that features reinforced edge support as the edge support on the Snug mattress is good but not great. Lastly, because it is a thinner all-foam mattress, it would not be able to fully support individuals who weigh over 250 lbs. We always recommend heavier individuals to go for a hybrid mattress.
We also experience a tiny bit of off-gassing with the Snug mattress, which is normal for a lot of mattresses made with foam. This is easily remedied by airing out the mattress in a well-ventilated room for a day or two. One thing we didn’t quite like about Sleepy’s mattresses is that Sleepy’s do not provide any certifications for any of their foam.
The Snug mattress also features a ventilated woven cover that allows air to circulate freely, keeping the mattress fresh and dry. It also helps sleepers sleep cool.
The Snug mattress comes in 1o different sizes, including a variety of RV sizes – good for those who are living the van life. As mentioned previously, the Snug Mattress measures 8″ in thickness and is compatible with most bed frames and bases, including an adjustable base.
Mattress Firm offers a 120 night sleep trial for the Sleepy’s Snug mattress as well as free shipping within the continental United States. They also offer services such as the Gold and Platinum Service which includes set-up and mattress removal, for a fee. The Sleepy’s Snug mattress is backed by a 10 year limited warranty.
You can find Sleepy’s mattresses online or in any Mattress Firm stores.
Curve Mattress
Check Current Price | Best for Side Sleepers
Pros and cons
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Good for strict side sleepers | Not for heavier individuals |
Plush feel | Stuck in the mud feel |
Good for those who suffer from body pain | Slight new mattress smell |
The Curve mattress is the thickest mattress out of Sleepy’s memory foam collection and it is also one of the softest. Sleepy’s call it their plush option. On the mattress firmness scale, it falls around a 3-4 which is a medium soft. This means that the Curve mattress is a good option for strict side sleepers and combination sleepers who sleep predominantly on their sides.
Strict back and stomach sleepers however, will not be getting the additional support they would need as sleeping on a softer mattress would cause their spines to be thrown off balance. Continued use of a mattress that does not support your sleeping position could result in misalignment of the spine and could cause serious issues in the long term. We always recommend stomach and back sleepers to opt for a medium firm to firm mattress.
Because of its plush feel and its memory foam layers, sleepers would feel as though they are being hugged by the mattress, and there is a significant amount of sinkage. Those who hate that ‘stuck in the mud’ feel of memory foam though may want to look at a more responsive type of foam mattress such as latex mattresses. Although I am a big fan of soft mattresses in general, my preferred sleeping position (tummy) does not allow me to sleep comfortably in them. I did feel as though as I was being swallowed by the bed, this could also allow body heat to stay in the mattress longer as the sinkage creates somewhat of a cocoon.
Those who suffer from chronic body pain however, would appreciate the pressure-relieving properties of a soft mattress such as the Curve mattress. The main pressure points in the body are the hips, shoulders and lower back and those who feel pain in these areas would need not only comfort but support as well.
There are only three foam layers in the Curve mattress. The memory foam comfort layer of the Curve mattress features an adaptable foam that contours the body, providing good pressure relief. Like the Snug mattress, this top comfort layer of the Curve mattress is also infused with charcoal, to help keep heat and moisture away.
The middle support layer also acts as the transition layer and is made up of cooling gel memory foam. This helps sleepers sleep cool while also providing support and pressure relief.
The final and base layer of the Curve mattress also acts as a support foam and is made up of a thicker slab of high density core foam. This not provides additional enhanced support but also helps with edge support. That said, the edge support on the Curve mattress is not one of the best that we’ve tried so those who find themselves sleeping on the edges of the bed may want to opt for hybrid mattresses, as these usually offer better edge support than all-foam beds.
The Curve mattress features circular knit fabric as its mattress cover that’s extra soft to the touch. We found that this adds to the plush feel of the mattress. It is also breathable, which helps air flow freely, keeping the mattress cool and dry.
While the Curve mattress is a great option for those who sleep on their sides, it is not the best mattress for side sleepers who are heavier than 250 lbs. Their weight may cause them to sink into the bed even further and could cause premature mattress sag, not to mention none of the support that they need. Sleepy’s does provide innerspring mattresses and hybrid mattresses which are the best mattresses for heavier individuals.
There is a slight ‘new mattress’ smell to the Curve mattress but as previously mentioned, this can be fixed by airing out the mattress prior to use. We found that most foam mattresses that come shipped in a box have that scent.
The Curve mattress comes in 6 different sizes, including a California King. It measures a substantial 12″ in thickness and is compatible with most bed frames and bases, including adjustable bases.
You can find Sleepy’s mattresses in Mattress Firm’s website and in their standalone stores around the country. The Curve mattress comes with a 120 night sleep trial and is backed by a 10 year limited warranty.
Doze Mattress
Check Current Price | Best for Couples
Pros and cons
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Good for all sleeper types | Edge support is not that good |
Sleeps cool | Not for heavier individuals |
Good for couples | Prone to mattress sag |
Somewhere in between the Snug mattress and the Curve mattress is Sleepy’s medium mattress offering, the Doze mattress. Its medium feel makes it great for all types of sleeping positions, including side sleepers.
Mattress firmness is very subjective though and strict side sleepers who weigh lighter than average may find the Doze mattress to be more on the medium firm side of the spectrum. On the same note, heavier sleepers may find the mattress to be a little softer. We do reiterate that those who weigh more than 250 lbs will get more support from a mattress with a combination of firm support foam and springs.
Like its other two memory foam counterparts, the Doze mattress features only three foam layers. The top comfort layer is made up of the same charcoal-infused memory foam that’s found in Sleepy’s other memory foam mattresses. Charcoal helps keep heat, moisture and odor away keeping your mattress cool and fresh for longer. This top layer is also the memory foam layer responsible for providing pressure relief by providing contouring comfort.
The middle layer is made up of gel-infused memory foam which helps with both cooling as well as providing additional comfort. A cool mattress, especially if they’re made of primarily memory foam, helps sleepers get a good night’s rest. Though certainly not the coolest mattress we have tried, the Doze mattress did a pretty good job of not making us sleep too hot as memory foam mattresses are wont to do.
As with Sleepy’s memory foam mattresses, the Doze mattress has a bottom layer made up of higher density support foam that gives the mattress a sturdy base and at the same time providing additional support.
Because of its slightly thicker build and thicker layers of foam, we felt that the Doze mattress provided good motion isolation, which makes it a good choice for those who share a bed with a partner. We felt no motion transfer when we tried the bed out with a sleep partner. As with Sleepy’s other foam mattresses though, we also felt that it could have provided us with better edge support but if you’re the type of sleeper who likes to sleep in the center of the bed anyway, then this probably wouldn’t be too much of an issue.
The Doze mattress features a designer knit cover that’s airy and breathable which also contributes to the mattress’ cooling properties. The Doze mattress would be a good mattress for those who tend to sleep hot.
Some verified mattress reviews have raised some concerns over premature mattress sagging but again, do bear in mind that if your body type is slightly on the heavier side, foam mattresses won’t be able to bear the weight in the long term.
The Doze mattress comes in 10 different mattress sizes, including a wide selection of RV mattress sizes. It measures 10″ thick and is compatible with most bed frames and foundations.
All of Sleepy’s mattress offerings can be found on the Mattress Firm website as well as their standalone stores around the country. The Doze mattress comes with a 120 night sleep trial that’s risk free and is backed a 10 year limited warranty.
Mattress Firm also offers free mattress delivery within the continental US for your Sleepy’s mattress as well as mattress removal for your old mattress for a nominal fee.
Rest Mattress
Check Current Price | Best for Back and Stomach Sleepers
Pros and cons
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Traditional innerspring feel | Not for side sleepers |
Good for heavy individuals | Mattress may be too firm for some |
Cooling | Slightly thin |
Love the feel of a traditional innerspring mattress? Then you might want to look into Sleepy’s Rest mattress.
Made for back and stomach sleepers, the Rest mattress is a 7-8 on the mattress firmness scale, which makes it a firm mattress. Firm mattresses provide more lumbar support for strict back sleepers as well hip support for stomach sleepers. Because of its firmer sleep surface, the Rest mattress can provide good support for heavier sleepers.
Innersprings also make good cooling mattresses since they allow air to circulate freely throughout the entire mattress at any given time. This also prevents the growth of mold and mildew which could affect not only the longevity of your mattress but also your health.
Unlike memory foam mattresses, sleepers will not feel as though they are sinking into the bed with the Rest mattress. Those who are concerned with lack of pressure relief from innersprings may find themselves pleasantly surprised by the Rest mattress’ combination of confirming foam layers as well as transition foam layers that lie atop and between its encased coil collection. The responsiveness of an innerspring bed plus the conforming foam that cradles every curve of the body provides excellent pressure relief, especially for those who sleep strictly on their backs. This responsiveness is also great for those who suffer from back pain.
The top foam layer of the Rest mattress is also infused with charcoal, which helps regulate body temperature. This makes it a wonderful mattress option for those who tend to feel hot when sleeping.
It won’t be an innerspring mattress without its support coil system and the Rest mattress features verticoil springs, a unique coil system that evenly distributes weight to help provide comfort and support all throughout the body. While pocketed coil mattresses tend to provide better motion isolation, the Rest mattress didn’t do too shoddy of a job of deadening motion either when we tried it out. This makes it a great option for those who share a bed with a partner who also sleeps either on their backs or stomachs.
The Rest mattress also features a 360 foam encasement that we believe helps massively with providing good edge support. I didn’t feel as though I was in any danger of rolling off the bed when I found myself sleeping on the edge of the Rest mattress. Whether you sleep alone or not, edge sleepers always need good edge support when it comes to beds.
There are two layers of support foam in the Rest mattress – one above the coils and one below. This helps keep the mattress sturdy and stable. These foams are made of higher density foams which also adds to the mattress’ firmness while providing extra support.
All the layers of the Rest mattress come encased in a breathable designer knit stretch cover that is quilted, which I felt added a bit of soft comfort to the surface of the mattress.
One caveat of the Rest mattress though is that it is a slightly thinner mattress than what some may be used to nowadays so if you prefer an innerspring mattress that’s very thick, you might want to look into something like the DreamCloud Hybrid mattress.
The Rest mattress comes in 6 different sizes, including a Twin XL size mattress. It measures 9.5″ thick and is compatible with most bed foundations and bases.
Sleepy’s mattresses come with a 120 night trial that’s risk-free and are backed by a 10 year limited warranty. You can find the complete Sleepy’s mattress range online or in Mattress Firm stores across the country.
Relax Mattress
Check Current Price | Best for Strict Side Sleepers
Pros and cons
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Provide deep compression support | Not for back or stomach sleepers |
Good for chronic pain | Motion isolation is not very good |
Plush feel |
If you’re a side sleeper with a penchant for innerspring mattresses, then you may want to look into Sleepy’s Relax mattress. While a true memory foam mattress may provide great pressure relief for those who sleep predominantly on their sides, throwing innersprings into the mix can provide additional and more responsive support.
The Relax mattress is a good mattress for those who hate that ‘stuck in the mud’ feel that is associated with traditional memory foam but still want that deep compression. The Relax mattress is a fairly soft bed, with Sleepy’s classifying it as a Plush. Upon trying it out, we find that it falls on a 3-4 on the mattress firmness scale, making it a medium soft mattress. This makes it a good choice for side and combination sleepers. Strict back and stomach sleepers need firmer mattresses and the Relax mattress would not give them the support that they would need.
Because the Relax mattress features a foam innerspring with a soft pillow top, it could provide side sleepers who are heavier set the support and relief that they need.
The Relax mattress is made up of a combination of Sleepy’s unique foam layers and a steel coil unit. The topmost layers feature 2 different types of specialized foam that Sleepy’s call their Embrace foam – a memory foam alternative that provides the same deep compression support as regular memory foam without any sinkage.
Right below that is a support foam that acts as a transition layer that protects and supports a coil unit that utilizes Sleepy’s own Luna-Flex coils. The innerspring construction eliminates empty space to help evenly distribute body weight while providing maximum support. Because coils are naturally springy, when coupled with a plush pillow top, we found that motion isolation is not very good so if you are a very light sleeper and wakes to the sound of a pin dropping, you might want to look into encased coil mattresses that can eliminate any form of motion like the Idle Gel Plush mattress.
The Relax mattress also comes with a foam edge support in the form of a foam encasement which helps reinforce the edges of the bed to keep the sleeper from falling off, especially if they like sleeping on the edge.
A support base high density polyfoam makes up the bottom layer of the Relax mattress, providing a solid and sturdy base that holds all the top layers together. The Relax mattress also utilizes a chemical-free fire barrier as its fire retardant layer.
The Relax mattress features a designer knit mattress cover that’s stretchable and breathable while also providing a soft sleep surface with its quilted, plush pillow top. While this may not be the same mattress you might find in a 5-star hotel, the Relax mattress could very well be on the same level as a luxury mattress in terms of feel. On top of that, Sleepy’s mattress provides great value for your money so if you are on the lookout for a hotel bed on a budget that could give you a great night’s sleep, this could be an option for you.
The Relax mattress comes in 6 different sizes, including the eternally popular queen mattresses. It measures 10.5″ thick and is compatible with most bed frames and bed bases including an adjustable base.
Mattress Firm offers free shipping within the continental United States for all of Sleepy’s mattresses. They come with a 120 night trial and are backed by a 10 year warranty. You can find Sleepy’s mattresses on Mattress Firm’s website or in Mattress Firm stores throughout the United States.
Calm Mattress
Check Current Price | Best Innerspring for All Sleeper Types
Pros and cons
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Goof for all sleeper types | Not for heavier individuals |
Plus Euro top | Slight off-gassing |
Cooling |
Think Euro-top mattresses only come as innersprings? Think again. Sleepy’s Calm mattress is a memory foam mattress that features a plush Euro-top that would not look out of place in a luxury hotel.
You would think that a memory foam mattress with a Euro-top makes for a very plush bed but the Calm mattress features firmer memory foam layers that gives the mattress a true Medium feel. This makes it a good option for all types of sleepers, including combination sleepers or those who switch between different sleeping positions throughout the night.
Heavier individuals though, may find that the Calm mattress to be more on the soft side, while lightweight sleepers may find it to be more medium firm. So if you are either it is best to get a mattress that may be slightly firmer or slightly softer than what the general firmness level states.
Euro-top mattresses are essentially the same as pillow top ones, usually more plush in feel. Mostly featuring a quilted top, these types of mattresses are what’s usually found in hotels. These mattresses are we call a hotel bed feel.
The Calm mattress is an all-foam mattress that utilizes memory foam layers as its comfort layers. There are four foam layers within the the Calm mattress. Sleepy’s memory foam mattresses are infused with both charcoal and gel, which provide both cooling comfort and support. We felt that the Calm mattress provided good lumbar support when we tried it out – even for those who sleep primarily on their stomachs.
The base support layer of the Calm mattress features a higher density polyfoam, thicker than the other memory foam mattresses within the Sleepy’s line of all-foam mattresses. This helps provide a firmer feel as well as a sturdier base for the mattress.
We did find that the Calm mattress gave off that typical ‘new mattress’ smell that most memory foams do but it disappeared after we aired out the mattress for a few days. We also found that it didn’t provide much temperature regulation so if you are the type who sleeps hot all the time, you may want to look into more cooling mattresses.
The Calm mattress would be a great choice for couples, even those who have different sleeping styles. The foam mattresses from Sleepy do need better edge support though, as we have discovered and this is something we feel Sleepy should definitely address.
The Calm mattress comes in 6 different sizes, including a California King. It measures 9″ in thickness and is compatible with most bed bases, frames and foundations, including an adjustable base.
You can find Sleepy’s Calm mattress on Mattress Firm’s website, which is the only place that sells Sleepy’s products. The Calm mattress comes with a 120 night trial that’s risk free and is backed by a 10 year limited warranty.
Hush Mattress
Check Current Price | Best for Heavier Individuals with Chronic Pain
Pros and cons
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Good for heavy individuals | Slight off-gassing |
Great for those who suffer from chronic pain | May be too thick for some |
Cooling |
It could sometimes get a bit difficult for heavier individuals who suffer from chronic pain to find the best mattress for their body type but mattress companies have begun creating specialized mattresses that could cater to heavier set people.
We always recommends hybrid mattresses for individuals who weigh over 250 lbs but we do realize that some people may want a thicker foam layer in their mattress. Sleepy’s Hush mattress features a combination of two soft foam layers and a comfort foam layer that gives the mattress a distinct memory foam feel. The pocketed coil system then provides more responsive support. This makes is a great mattress for those who need a lot more support.
Both the charcoal and gel-infused foam layers help provide a more cooling sleep experience as both these materials help wick away heat and moisture. Couple that with the encased coil unit which helps with air circulation then that makes the Hush mattress to be one of the most cooling mattresses from Sleepy’s that we have tried.
The Hush mattress’ pillow top provides major pressure relief which is especially good for those who suffer from chronic pain such as fibromyalgia. But because it is a medium soft to medium – or Plush, as Sleepy’s call it – it may not be the best mattress for those who sleep strictly on their sides or backs. Lightweight sleepers who also suffer from chronic pain may also appreciate the mattress’ plush foam feel.
The Hush mattress features encased coils in its coil system. Individually wrapped steel coils do a better job at reducing motion transfer so this could be a good option for couples or those who share a bed. These coils also allow the mattress to be more responsive, without letting sleepers feel any sinkage as they move around the bed.
The entire mattress is surrounded by foam rails that provided great edge support. We never felt any danger of rolling off the bed when we tried it out.
The base layer of the Hush mattress features a shock-absorbing support foam that reacts to each movement of the body while also providing additional support. This layer helps with providing lumbar support and spinal alignment due to its medium firmness as well as higher density. This shock-absorbing support foam also helps prevent premature mattress sag, which was the main complaint from verified mattress reviews of Sleepy’s mattresses.
We also found that the Hush mattress gave off a small amount of off-gassing when we first got it, but this immediately dissipated after we aired out the mattress in a well-ventilated room.
The Hush mattress is also substantially thicker, which we feel thick mattress fans may like.
The Hush mattress comes in 6 different sizes and measures 11″ in thickness. It is compatible with most bed frames, bed bases and foundations, including an adjustable base.
Mattress Firm offers free shipping for all of Sleepy’s mattresses throughout the continental United States. The Hush mattress comes with a 120 night, risk-free trial and is backed by a 10 year limited warranty.
Mattress Firm also offers removal of your old mattress as well as setup for a small fee.
