If you’re having issues with your DreamCloud mattress, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, we give you all the information you need, including warranty coverage and how to make a warranty claim.
What’s covered under the DreamCloud mattress warranty?
First of all, the DreamCloud lifetime mattress warranty only covers mattresses that are purchased directly from DreamCloud Sleep or their authorized retailers.
If you bought your mattress somewhere else, it won’t be backed by the brand’s lifetime warranty.
DreamCloud is a brand that we’ve reviewed before and they produce high-quality mattresses, bed frames, and bedding.
The DreamCloud mattress lineup consists of three products: The DreamCloud Mattress, DreamCloud Premier, and Premier Rest.
If you’re looking to buy a mattress, check out our DreamCloud mattress review where we tested each of these models and shared their individual pros and cons. We also created an article where we go in-depth on where DreamCloud mattresses are made (this isn’t as straightforward to find out as you’d think).
Let’s talk about DreamCloud’s warranty replacement terms.
First things first, you have to be the original purchaser of the mattress in order to file a warranty claim.
So, how will DreamCloud know if you’re the original owner? All you need is a copy of your receipt as a proof of purchase. DreamCloud will not honor a warranty claim that’s filed by someone else other than the original owner of the mattress.
If the original owner sells his or her DreamCloud Mattress, the warranty will automatically be terminated.
So if you acquired your DreamCloud mattress from a previous owner, you’re accepting the product regardless of its defects or signs of wear and tear and you’ve got no chance of ever filing for a warranty claim.
Replacement terms
The DreamCloud mattress warranty covers the following defects:
- Visible indentations greater than 1.5 inches – As with all mattress brands, the indentations or sagging should not be caused by using an improper or unsupportive bed base. This is common in the mattress industry. The Saatva mattress warranty and Purple mattress warranty have similar terms. Make sure that you’re using a proper bed frame and the indentations that occur are the result of normal wear and tear.
- Structural and workmanship defects – You can file a warranty claim if the foam layers in your DreamCloud mattress starts deteriorating despite proper care and maintenance. Structural defects include splitting or cracking of a mattress’s foam layers. But that’s not all. You can also make a warranty claim if you notice defects in the mattress cover.
Exclusions
Ok, so this list will be much longer than the replacement terms.
Check your mattress for any of these factors before making a warranty claim:
- Personal comfort preference – You can’t file a warranty claim just because you don’t like the feel or firmness of a mattress. This is why most online mattress companies offer risk-free sleep trials so you can try out the mattress and decide whether you want to keep it or return it. With a DreamCloud mattress, you get a 365-night sleep trial which is substantially longer than most brands on the market.
- Defects caused by physical abuse – Any damages to the structure or cover of the mattress will void your warranty. This includes burns, cuts, tears, liquid damage, and yellow stains. Always make sure to exercise proper care and maintenance of your new mattress.
- Normal increase in the foam’s softness – It’s common for foam mattresses to get softer over time, especially with regular use. As long as it does not affect the pressure-relieving qualities of the mattress, it won’t be considered grounds for replacement.
- A mattress without its cover – You should never remove the cover of a DreamCloud mattress because this will void its warranty. Unlike some brands that have machine-washable covers, DreamCloud mattresses should only be spot cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
- Damage caused by environmental factors – If your mattress is deemed unsanitary and infested with bed bugs, you also can’t file a warranty claim.
- A mattress that isn’t supported by a proper bed frame – Placing a mattress on a supportive bed frame is a requirement for most mattress warranties, including the Serta mattress warranty. You have to make sure to put your mattress on a sturdy platform bed base or a bed frame with bed slats. Some brands won’t even honor a claim if the mattress has been found to be placed on the floor.
- A mattress that has been previously purchased by another consumer – Any mattress that’s sold as “used”, “returned”, “preconditioned”, or “reconditioned” means that it’s not new anymore. If you own a mattress that falls under one of these categories, its warranty has already been terminated.
- Mattress shipped from abroad – Any DreamCloud mattresses that are shipped from outside the United States are not backed by the brand’s lifetime warranty.
How the DreamCloud lifetime warranty works
Each brand has their own mattress warranty policies.
DreamCloud believes in their products so much that they offer lifetime warranties for all their mattress models. So, how exactly does the DreamCloud lifetime warranty work?
If you file a warranty within the first 10 years, DreamCloud will replace your mattress with a brand new mattress that’s of equal or greater cost. This replacement is completely free, transportation and all.
If you file a warranty for a DreamCloud mattress that you’ve owned for more than 10 years, the company will replace your mattress with a product of the same price. The difference this time is that you will be asked to pay a $50 transportation fee.
However, this additional charge could be waived if DreamCloud warranty inspectors confirm that your mattress is defective.
