Having problems with your new mattress? Or are you just researching their warranty terms before buying a mattress? Either way, we’ve put together all the information you’ll need regarding the process. In this article, you’ll learn about the Casper mattress warranty coverage, length, and how to make a claim.
What is covered under the Casper mattress warranty?
The Casper mattress warranty covers mattresses that are purchased directly from Casper or their authorized retailers in the US or in Canada. There are specific replacement terms that have to be met to make a warranty claim. More on this later. First, let me give you a brief background on Casper.
Did you know that Casper Sleep is the first ever direct to consumer bed-in-a-box company? The brand was launched in 2014 and they started the practice of compressing and shipping mattresses in boxes.
Today, almost a decade later, Casper is one of the most popular online mattress brands with a wide product range that includes mattresses for all types of sleepers and budgets.
Besides Casper’s high-quality mattresses, the company also offers bedding, mattress foundations, and bed frames. Now that you know a bit more about the company, let’s get back to the topic at hand which is their mattress warranty.
Before filing a warranty claim with any mattress brand, you should know about their replacement terms and exclusions.
I’ve listed the Casper mattress warranty replacement terms and core exclusions for you below.
Replacement terms
The Casper mattress warranty applies to the following manufacturing defects. If you find one of these flaws, you can return your Casper mattress:
- Visible indentations greater than 1 inch. The warranty does not apply to any sagging caused by the use of an improper or unsupportive foundation or bed frame. Your mattress must be supported by a sturdy foundation or bed frame so you can file a valid warranty claim.
- Structural defects such as split or cracked foam. You can file a warranty claim if you notice damages in the foam itself, despite normal usage and proper handling.
- Defect in the zipper assembly of the mattress cover. This last defect is quite specific and it is a valid reason to file a Casper mattress warranty claim.
Exclusions
Check if these exclusions apply to your mattress before making a warranty claim.
- Softening of foam layers due to wear and tear. This is completely normal, especially if your mattress in under heavy load all year-round.
- Firmness preference. You can’t make a warranty claim just because you want a mattress with a different firmness level. Read our mattress firmness guide and check out our mattress reviews so you can make a well-informed decision.
- Damages inflicted to the mattress and cover. This includes burns, cuts, tears, liquid damage, and stains (including yellow stains and blood stains).
- Damages caused by commercial use. You should be a Trade Customer if you’re planning to use or sell a Casper mattress in a hotel or store, or else you won’t be able to file a warranty claim if your mattress is defective.
- Replacement of non-defective pieces in the mattress. If you have a mattress with multiple components, Casper will only replace the defective section.
- Casper mattresses sold by resellers who are not authorized retailers.
- Mattresses sold as “preconditioned”, “used”, or “previously owned”. A mattress that’s been used by a previous consumer will not be qualified for a warranty claim.
Those are all the replacement terms and exclusions in the Casper mattress warranty. I have one important reminder for you and that’s to make sure your mattress is clean before filing a warranty claim. Your warranty claim will not be honored if your mattress has spills or stains on it.
For this reason (and for your convenience), we always recommend using waterproof mattress protectors to keep your mattress clean all year-round.
Warranty length
Casper mattresses come with a standard 10-year non-prorated warranty. But Casper clearance and final sale mattress warranties only last for 5 years. Replacement terms and exclusions remain the same for both warranty lengths.
On average, mattress warranties typically range from 10 to 20 years, with some brands like Saatva even offering lifetime warranties. Read our guide to the Saatva mattress warranty for more details.
Casper usually replaces a mattress with the same exact model, but you can also choose to upgrade your mattress if you want. In this case, you’ll need to pay the price difference between your original mattress and the upgraded replacement.
How to make a Casper warranty claim
The key to submitting a mattress warranty claim is evidence of the defect. There are two types of proof that you’ll need to file warranty claim for your Casper mattress.
- Proof of the manufacturing defect – Take pictures of the defect. It can be sagging, indentations, or split and cracked foam.
- Proof of the original purchase date of the mattress – The purchase date is usually stated on the receipt, so make sure to save it when you buy a mattress.
Email your warranty claim to support@casper.com and make sure to attach pictures of the defect. Or you can send a hard copy of your claim to:
Casper Sleep, Inc.
175 Greenwich St., 39th Floor
New York, NY 10007
If you noticed a defect in your mattress within your 100-night trial period, contact Casper and they will replace your mattress for you. There’s no need to file a warranty claim within this period.
You should also take good care of your mattress to avoid voiding your warranty. Never remove the law tag on your mattress and always use a supportive bed base to combat wear and tear.

Conclusion
To recap, any mattress purchase from Casper is backed by a 10-year warranty that’s standard in the online mattress space. It’s a non-prorated warranty that covers manufacturing defects such as split or cracked foam and indentations greater than 1 inch. Filing a Casper warranty is fairly straightforward as long as you have photo proof of the defect and proof of the original purchase date of your mattress.
To avoid voiding your warranty, make sure to regularly clean your mattress and place it on top of a supportive foundation or bed base. Removing the mattress tag and using an improper bed frame can forfeit your warranty.
