Pros
- Great for side sleepers
- Good for some back sleepers
- Made with all-natural materials
Cons
- Non-returnable
- Its loft is too high for stomach sleepers
Our Experience with the PlushBeds Down and Feather Pillow
If we could pick just one King-size pillow, we would definitely choose the PlushBeds Down and Feather Pillow. It’s one of the best pillows you can buy today and it’s made with a unique and luxurious feather-down blend. What’s so unique about it you ask?
See, the pillow’s inner core is dense and firm which offers more support; while the outer layer is softer so you can get nice contouring for your head and neck. The PlushBeds Down and Feather Pillow has a medium loft that’s great for side sleepers and some back sleepers.
Are you concerned about animal welfare? There’s no need to worry because the PlushBeds Down and Feather Pillow is Responsible Down Standard certified. All fowls are well cared for and all down was gathered in a cruelty-free manner.
Comfort
If you’re a fan of plush downy pillows, you might have experienced sleeping on pillows that are way too soft and unsupportive. We’ve been there too. The good thing about the PlushBeds Down and Feather pillow is that it offers you a balanced mix of comfort and support through its proprietary feather-down blend.
We recommend this King-size pillow for side sleepers as well as back sleepers who enjoy sleeping on a fluffy down pillow. The inner chamber of the pillow is filled with supportive feather fill to keep your head and neck supported, and the outer layer contains white duck down which is softer and more contouring.
Unfortunately, we would steer stomach sleepers towards another model because this pillow’s loft is a bit too high. If you’re a stomach sleeper, you should opt for a thinner pillow such as the Nest Bedding Pillow.
Construction
The PlushBeds Down and Feather Pillow is made in the USA with responsibly-sourced down. It’s encased in a densely woven 100% cotton cambric cover that has a 230 thread count. This organic cotton cover is super breathable and it features double-stitched edges with German piping to keep the feathers secure.
The cover is non-removable but the entire pillow is machine-washable for easy cleaning.
Moving on to its filling, the inner core of the pillow contains a dense feather-down blend for support. And, the outer layer is stuffed with pure white down which is softer and provides initial contouring for your head and neck.
Combined with its organic cotton cover, the down and feathers in this pillow have great temperature-regulating properties. This is a neat perk if you’re someone who overheats at night.

#2. Saatva Memory Foam Pillow
Check Current Price | Best Memory Foam Pillow
Pros
- Best for side sleepers
- Contouring
- Cooling
- Removable and machine-washable cover
Cons
- Above average price point
- Slight off-gassing
Our Experience with the Saatva Memory Foam Pillow
Are you a memory foam lover? The Saatva Memory Foam Pillow is the best model on the market and it’s not even close. What sets it apart from other memory foam pillows? It’s not just made with regular memory foam which is known for trapping body heat.
This King-size pillow contains graphite-infused memory foam to offer you all the benefits of memory foam, without its main drawback – heat retention. The graphite infusion draws heat away from your body to keep you feeling cool and fresh all night long.
The Saatva Memory Foam Pillow has a low to medium loft and it smoothly conforms to the shape of your head and neck. This pillow is best suited for side sleepers who love the feel of contouring memory foam.
Comfort
Although I mentioned that the Saatva Memory Foam Pillow is best suited for side sleepers, it can also be a good for back and stomach sleepers. It contains a proprietary blend of shredded memory foam and natural latex to provide long-lasting support and comfort for your head and neck.
If you’re someone who’s experienced allergies before with down and feather pillows, you should give this memory foam pillow a shot because it’s also hypoallergenic.
It’s supportive, comfortable, and it keeps you cool at night. What more can you ask from a pillow, right?
Construction
The Saatva Memory Foam Pillow is made in the USA and it contains shredded memory foam fill that’s been infused with graphite for cooling. The memory foam used in the pillow is shredded for adjustability and airflow, and it also contains natural latex for durability.
It’s encased in a removable and machine-washable quilted knit cover that’s made of breathable organic cotton. Cleaning the pillow is incredibly convenient as you just have to machine-wash the cover and tumble dry or hang to dry it.
We did experience some off-gassing from the pillow when we first got it, but the chemical smell quickly disappeared within a day.

#3. Bear Pillow
Check Current Price | Best Cooling Pillow
Pros
- Ideal for hot sleepers
- Made with proprietary foam
- Hypoallergenic
- Removable cover
Cons
- Off-gassing odors
- Cover is not machine-washable
Our Experience with the Bear Pillow
Made with unique foam and encased with a proprietary Double Ice fabric cover, the Bear Pillow is the best cooling pillow that we tried. The material used in its filling is called LOFT-X Hybrid foam and it offers the contouring of memory foam and the resilience of latex. This proved to be an excellent combination and our team really enjoyed sleeping on the Bear Pillow.
To further aid in cooling, this pillow features mesh panels on both ends to promote airflow. We recommend this pillow for hot sleepers who want a well-balanced mid loft pillow.
If you’re someone who suffers from allergies, you’ll have no issues because the Bear Pillow is hypoallergenic and antimicrobial.
Comfort
Although Bear markets this pillow as suitable for all sleeper types, we would only recommend it to side and back sleepers and not to stomach sleepers. The reason for this is that it’s loft is quite high at around 5 inches. If you’re a stomach sleeper, this could strain your neck by putting your head and spine out of alignment.
That being said, we really liked the unique feel that this pillow has. It combines the qualities of both memory foam and latex which are contouring and responsiveness. You won’t have fluff this pillow every night like you would a down feather pillow.
Construction
The Bear Pillow is made in the USA and it features proprietary Loft-X foam. It’s encased in a cooling Double Ice Fabric cover that stays cool to the touch all night long. In addition to that, this cover has double-sided mesh panels which promote airflow through the pillow.
The Double Ice Fabric cover is removable but it isn’t machine-washable due to its special cooling design. If you want to clean the pillow, you should remove the cover and spot clean the core. Remember to air dry the pillow completely before putting the cover on and using it again.
If we have one complaint about the Bear Pillow, it’s that we experienced pretty strong off-gassing odors when we first got it. You should air it out for at least 2-3 days before using it to totally get rid of the chemical smell.

Pros
- Affordable
- Suitable for all sleeper types
- Comes with a lengthy sleep trial
- Machine-washable cover
Cons
- Some customers reported heat retention
- Slight off-gassing
Our Experience with the Tuft & Needle Original Foam Pillow
If you’re looking for an affordable pillow that offers great value, go for the Tuft & Needle Original Foam Pillow. It’s suitable for all sleeper types – back, stomach, side, and combination. Made with the same material as Tuft and Needle mattresses, this pillow is supportive and it maintains its shape all night long.
Although it isn’t an adjustable pillow, the T&N Foam Pillow adapts to your head and neck to relieve any tension. I, personally, felt comfortable no matter what position my head was on the pillow.
Comfort
We really enjoyed trying the T&N Original Foam Pillow but some customers felt the opposite. A number of verified consumers found it to be an overly firm pillow. Our team, however, felt that the pillow had just the right amount of firmness and support. We also found it to be a suitable pillow for sleepers who experience shoulder pain when sleeping.
With regards to the heat retention, we found the pillow to be temperature-neutral. It doesn’t actively cool you down but it doesn’t trap body heat either. If you would like a more active cooling pillow, check out our best active cooling pillow article.
Construction
The Tuft & Needle Original Foam Pillow is made in the USA and contains Tuft And Needle’s proprietary Adaptive® foam, the same as their mattresses. This foam is infused with graphite and cooling gel which combats heat retention by absorbing and dissipating body heat.
It’s encased in a micro polyamide and polyester blend cover that’s also breathable and soft to the touch.
This pillow is both GreenGuard Gold and CertiPUR-US certified for health and environmental safety. Although we noticed a little bit of off-gassing, it wasn’t a problem since the smell quickly disappeared with 24 hours.

Dimensions of a King-sized pillow
King-size pillows are the biggest pillows available and they are 20 inches wide and 36 inches long.
A king pillow has the same width as a standard or Queen-size pillow, but it’s significantly longer to fill the space in a King-size bed.
You should get King-size pillows if you have a King mattress or if you have a smaller mattress but you want something to act as a body pillow. King-size pillows are pretty expensive compared to smaller pillow sizes but they offer a lot of benefits and value.
Choosing a King pillow
So, how should you choose a King pillow? What factors do you have to consider? I’ve listed the aspects that you have to take note of below. It’s imperative that the pillow fits your specific needs and preferences before you decide to purchase it.
Mattress size
If you’re sleeping with a partner, you should have a King or California King mattress in order to fit two king-size pillows. A mattress that’s queen-size or smaller can only fit one king-size pillow.
But if you sleep alone and you want a bigger pillow, you can also get a King-size pillow. It can be a great way to relieve pain from your head and neck and enhance your overall sleep quality.
Sleeping position
Pillow posture is extremely important. Getting the wrong pillow for your sleeping position can be a total disaster. You could wake up with a stiff neck, shoulder pain etc.
Generally, we recommend that side sleepers get a medium to high loft pillow for proper neck support. Back sleepers need a low to medium loft for a comfortable mix of contouring and support. Lastly, stomach sleepers require a low loft pillow to prevent their necks from craning upward and causing pain.
Type of material
Do you want plush contouring for your head and neck? Get a memory foam pillow. Do you prefer a fluffier down feel? Go for a down or down alternative pillow.
The most important thing is that you’re comfortable with the type of material a pillow contains. The material used in a pillow also determines its price. More on that later.
Loft
Loft refers to the thickness or height of a pillow. As I mentioned above, different lofts are best suited for particular sleeping positions. Always consider the loft of a pillow before purchasing one. It can dictate whether you’re going to be comfortable sleeping on it or not.
Price
A King-size pillow itself is going to be costlier than a standard or Queen-size pillow. However, there’s another key factor that influences a pillow’s price and that’s the type of material it uses.
Down pillows are the most expensive and luxurious, followed by latex pillows, and then memory foam pillows. Poly fiber fill and cotton pillows are the cheapest types but they are also the least durable and least comfortable pillows when it comes to long-term use.
FAQs
A super King pillow is the same as a King-size pillow and its dimensions are 20″ x 36″.
Yes, King bed pillows are too big for a Queen-size mattress. The pillows will overhang on the sides of the mattress. However, if you sleep alone on a Queen-size mattress, then you can use a single King pillow.
A twin mattress can only fit one King pillow, but a king-size mattress can fit two King pillows with no issues.
Yes, King-size pillows are six inches longer than queen pillows.
Conclusion
I just want to reiterate that you should choose the King-size pillow that fits your needs. Not mine, not any other reviewer’s needs. Your own needs and preferences should be your top priority and you’re going to make a good choice. All the King-size pillow models that we listed above are of great quality, durable, supportive, and suited to different kinds of individuals.
Next step: Try out the Plushbeds Down and Feather Pillow. We like it because it’s great for side sleepers and it’s made with all-natural materials. If you aren’t sure with king-sized pillow to choose, go with Plushbeds.
