Our experience with Airweave Advanced
Since Airweave is constructed differently from other mattresses, the company recommends using the mattress for the at least 30-night trial period before making your final decision, since it may take that long for your body to fully adjust to the Airweave Advanced Mattress.
In my experience, the Airweave Mattress Advanced became much more comfortable over time once my body adjusted to it. After the first two weeks my body aches and stiffness completely vanished. It is firm yet bouncy. It is also easy to clean which means there is less chance of bugs, dust, or allergens inside your mattress. If you’re a clean freak like me then you will be very happy with this easy-to-wash mattress.
Firmness
One of the best features of this mattress is its firmness. On the mattress firmness scale of 1-10 with 1 being the softest and 10 the firmest, I would give Airweave Advanced Mattress an 8/10. Although firmness is pretty subjective, I think most people would agree that it is way more firm than expected.
The Airweave Advanced Mattress would be suitable for back and stomach sleepers due the level of firmness it offers. Back sleepers often struggle to find a mattress that can retain their body alignment throughout the night. So, back sleepers weighing 130 pounds or above would find this mattress perfectly firm to ensure pressure relief for their lower back. For stomach sleepers, a little cushion to release extra strain on the neck and spine is mostly preferred. The comfort layer adds that extra touch of softness required for stomach sleepers. The Airweave Mattress Advanced is ideal for light and heavy stomach sleepers.
The Airweave Mattress Advanced offers reasonable edge support and you never feel like you will fall off the bed. The firmness of the mattress resists excessive compression, even around the perimeter of the bed.
Construction
Since it is inspired by Japanese-style mattresses, construction of Airweave Advanced Mattress is quite different from other brands. The Airweave Advanced Mattress is composed of three layers:
- Mattress Cover
- Comfort Layer
- Soft Layer
- Support
The mattress cover layer is the same as what you can find on other mattresses. It’s removable, machine-washable, and made from 100% polyester.
Underneath the cover are the comfort layer and soft layer. These are designed to give you an extra touch of softness from the firmness of support layer. It has a contouring and soft feel to release pressure from neck and spine for stomach sleepers. The Airweave Advanced Mattress is a firm mattress with little touch of softness through the comfort layer and soft layer. When stomach sleepers sleep on a plush mattress they tend to sink in from their midsection causing extra strain on neck and spine. However, when sleeping face down, stomach sleepers also need a little soft touch for the face. So, the Airweave Advanced mattress is a good fit for stomach sleepers. I am not a strict stomach sleeper but the team has some stomach sleepers and they all had a pleasant experience.
The fourth layer on the Airweave mattress is the support layer. It consists of three blocks of airfiber material. Each of these blocks are 4” in depth and 3 Dual Model airfiber blocks with 3 firmness levels to select from (soft, moderate, firm). You can rearrange the three blocks as per your body requirement.
Based on experience, I know that I prefer a firm mattress and was able to customize my Airweave Advanced Mattress to meet my body’s needs. If you are a combination sleeper you can also adjust the blocks by trying different combinations. The flip and rotate option is quite practical and you end up finding the best combination for your body.
The Airweave Advanced mattress’s core is made of airfiber that is a mass of tangled and woven plastic fibers with a lot of breathing space. This structure helps the mattress maintain its cooler temperature. If you’re a hot sleeper, you won’t have to worry about waking up covered in sweat since this mattress is very cooling.
Another aspect that the team liked was that the complete mattress is fully washable. The airfiber material is nontoxic and completely recyclable as well. People who prefer products that are environmentally friendly would do well with a mattress like the Airweave Advanced.
The Airweave Advanced Mattress comes in compact and easy-to-handle, box-packed with assembly instructions included (without any extra packing material). I liked experiencing the Japanese approach to making products that are elegant, minimalist, and efficient.

Our Experience with New Airweave Mattress
The New Airweave Mattress is an ultra firm mattress that is both responsive and supportive. If you are a back or stomach sleeper this might be a good fit for you. The New Airweave Mattress is built with the same airfiber material like other Airweave mattresses. Therefore, the cooling effect is the same as it is in all other Airweave mattresses. The ultra firm mattress keeps your back straight and helps provide pressure relief for your lower back.
Since, airfiber doesn’t contour closely to the body, people who are back sleepers and weigh 230 lbs and above might feel that New Airweave Mattress is suitable for their body weight. Back sleepers or stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 lbs might find it too firm mattress of a to sleep on. Similarly, side sleepers would also find it difficult to adjust to the firmness of the New Airweave Mattress. Based on our experience, I would say that the New Airweave Mattress is suitable for heavier stomach and back sleepers, but not side sleepers.
Firmness
The New Airweave Mattress is an ultra firm mattress. On the mattress firmness scale of 1-10 (1 being the softest and 10 the firmest) Airweave Mattress is rated at 8.5/10. The level of firmness is mostly suited for heavy stomach and back sleepers. The New Airweave Mattress helps provide pressure relief for your lower back and gives extra support to back sleepers. The New Airweave Mattress is suitable for stomach sleepers over 130 pounds, however those who weigh less might like a mattress with extra cushion. People who are strict back sleepers and weigh 230lbs or above wouldn’t probably even need this layer. However, if you are a back sleeper and weigh less than 130 lbs, then you might need that the extra soft layer for pressure relief. I am a combination sleeper and for me the addition of the soft layer was a plus. Some combination sleepers in our team found it a little too firm. If you’re a combination sleeper, you can take advantage of the free trial period to find out if this mattress works for you.
Side sleepers always need a mattress that can help relieve pressure from their shoulders and hips. The New Airweave Mattress may be too firm for people who need pressure relief from pressure points. So, if you are side sleeper, you will need a more plush mattress to help even out shoulder and hip weight.
The Difference between the new airweave mattress and airweave advanced mattress is that the New Airweave Mattress doesn’t include an extra comfort layer above the Airfiber blocks. Airweave Advanced Mattress has an extra comfort layer for a touch of softness above the core layer of airfiber material. However, New Airweave Mattress has two layers and the comfort layer is optional. You can purchase the comfort layer and spread it out on top of your core layer. It entirely depends on your firmness level preference.
The New Airweave Mattress does poorly with motion transfer. People who are light sleepers would find it disturbing as you will immediately feel the movement on the other side of the bed. So, couples who sleep differently might find this mattress unsuitable.
Construction
This mattress consists of three layers:
- Mattress Cover
- Soft Layer
- Support
The mattress cover of the New Airweave Mattress is made up of 100% washable polyester like most other mattresses. The cover has a soft and thick touch to it. The lining layer of the mattress cover is made of modacrylic and glass fiber that acts as a fire retardant.
The New Airweave Mattress comes with an optional soft layer over the airfiber blocks that is designed to add a slightly softer touch. The difference between the New Airweave Mattress and Airweave Advanced Mattress is that the latter comes with adjustable 3 DUAL MODE airfiber blocks and 3 firmness levels to choose from (Soft, Moderate, Firm). Whereas, the New Airweave Mattress comes with same firmness level and 3 airfiber blocks.
The core layer of the New Airweave Mattress is 6″ thick. If you include the soft layer the actual thickness would be 7.9″. Airweave gives you the option to choose whether you want to include the soft layer depending upon your sleeping pattern and weight.
The mattress helps regulate the body temperature in a much better way than traditional foam mattresses. Since the core layer of New Airweave Mattress is made of airfiber material, the air space between the woven threads helps it breathe and maintains a cooler temperature. People who sweat a lot while sleeping would most probably find this mattress cooler than traditional memory foam mattresses.
The New Airweave Mattress has an extra resilient surface that facilitates movement on top of the bed. Some people have trouble moving and getting out of the bed for various reasons. The New Airweave Mattress would probably be well-suited for individuals with mobility issues. This feature also helps people who move a lot while sleeping.
The New Airweave Mattress offers great edge support as well. Even if you are sleeping on the extreme edge of the bed, you won’t feel compressed.
The Airweave Advanced mattress is fully washable (the cover and the airfiber blocks) unlike most other traditional mattresses. Some people even throw out mattresses that are not yet past their prime because of stubborn stains. If you’re someone prone to spills or accidents in bed, a fully washable mattress could be the right mattress for you.
Sizes
There are 6 sizes available in Airweave Advanced Mattress. The Airweave Advanced Mattress is 7.9″ thick and is compatible with most bed bases and bed frames, including platform beds.
- Twin: (39.4×74.8×7.9)
- Twin XL: (39.4×79.9×7.9)
- Full: (53.1×74.8×7.9)
- Queen: (59.8×79.9×7.9)
- King: (76×79.9×7.9)
- CAL King: (71.7×83.9×7.9)
Durability
The New Airweave Mattress comes with a 10-year warranty along with a 100-night trial period. Customers can easily return the mattress between the first 31-100 nights if not satisfied. Airweave’s customer service is appreciated by some customers since they sometimes accept mattress returns after the end of the trial period.
I haven’t experienced the return process but looking at other customer’s reviews we can fairly say that the Airweave has smooth return and exchange process should you want to return your mattress.

Our Experience with Airweave Futon Mattress
Airweave futon mattress is a folding mattress that is suitable for budget buyers. Airweave Futon Mattress is made of the same airfiber material as the other Airweave mattresses. This mattress could be a great option for people looking for a compact mattress due space issues. You can fold this mattress and tuck it under any regular bed or storage. People who have frequent guests visiting can use this as an extra mattress. One positive element of this mattress is that despite being thinner than other Airweave mattresses, it is reasonably firm. Some people can also use this as a mattress topper above their regular mattress.
Firmness
The Airweave Futon Mattress is 2.8″ thick and made of the same airfiber material as other Airweave mattresses. It might seem thin but the actual feel of the mattress is firm. Japanese futon mattresses are recommended by doctors to help reduce back pain as they are firm but still reasonably supportive. The Airweave Futon Mattress helps your back form a natural alignment resulting in peaceful sleep.
Regular futon mattresses are thicker and less flexible compared to the Airweave Futon Mattress. The Airweave Futon Mattress is flexible and can be easily stored as well. The airfiber used in construction of The Airweave Futon Mattress help maintain the structure even if you are folding and storing it in compact places.
Since it was not my first experience with a futon mattress, I was a little concerned but it turned out to be a different experience compared to western-style futon mattresses. However, I did feel some difficulty getting up from the floor because of my knee condition. So, if you are facing the same problem then it might not be a good fit for you.
Construction
The Airweave Futon Mattress has has two layers in its construction:
- Mattress Cover
- Support
The mattress cover is 100% polyethylene and has both cool and warm sides to it. The cool side has 55% poly and 45% cotton and warm side is 100% pile cotton. The carrying handles on the sides help in tucking in and taking out of the mattress from difficult places.
The support layer is composed of airfiber material. This helps the Airweave Futon Mattress maintain its flexibility, temperature control, and compactness. As discussed earlier as well, firmness level of airfiber is independent of its thickness. Many people believe that if you have back pain, you should sleep on a cushioned bed. However, softer beds settle your body in unnatural positions resulting in even worse pain. Japanese futon mattresses help improve spine properly aligned to minimize back pain.
The Airweave Futon Mattress is unlike other traditional futon mattresses. It can help you back to formulate a natural alignment when you spread it on the floor. The airfiber used to build the mattress provide support and comfort for a straight back. Many doctors and chiropractors also recommend Japanese futon mattresses for back pain and problems like scoliosis. The Airweave Futon could be a suitable option for people struggling with consistent back pain and are recommended to sleep on the floor for a while.
Japanese futon mattresses can reduce back pain because they are firm but still very supportive. They allow your back to form a natural alignment while providing a great level of comfort so that you will be able to sleep peacefully.
The Airweave Futon Mattress is a multi-purpose mattress that can be of use in different situations. People who like to spread an extra topper layer on their bed will find it useful as well.
