A favorite among those who prefer natural and organic beds, latex mattresses like the ones offered by PlushBeds are also a great option for those who suffer from seasonal allergies.
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Latex mattress comes in different firmness options as well as a range of different thicknesses to choose from for your split-Queen mattress.
Who should buy the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss?
- Couples
- Hot sleepers
- Those who prefer a more responsive bed
- Those who suffer from allergies
Firmness
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress comes in two firmness options: a Medium and a Medium Firm. Sitting on a 5 on the mattress firmness scale, the medium option is a good mattress for all sleeper types, including strict side sleepers. Around a 6-7 on the scale, the medium-firm option is more suitable for those who sleep on their backs or stomachs. When it comes to a split-Queen size bed, you have the option to choose 2 different firmness levels for each side, in case you and your partner have different preferences and sleeping positions.
Because split-queen mattresses are split in the middle, motion isolation should not really be an issue for those who share a bed. Split Queen adjustable beds may also feature different heights, especially if they feature adjustable legs.
We found the edge support on the Botanical Bliss mattress to be very good when we tried it out. If you are the type of sleeper who sleeps close to the edge of the bed, you won’t be in any danger of rolling right off.
Construction
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is an all-foam mattress. This means it may not be the best option for individuals weighing well over 300 lbs. We always recommend hybrid mattresses like the Layla Hybrid for heavy-set individuals.
For the 9″ and 10″ options of the Botanical Bliss mattress, there are only 2 latex foam layers making up the entirety of the bed, whereas the 12″ option consists of 3.
The top comfort layer is made up of 100% pure Talalay latex. GOLS certified and Class 1 certified, the Talalay latex used in PlushBeds’ mattresses are free from chemicals, fillers and carcinogens. Latex is also naturally hypoallergenic and more responsive compared to traditional memory foam.
Because of its responsiveness, the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a good option for those who hate that stuck in the mud feel but are still looking for the same pressure-relieving properties as that of memory foam mattresses.
The base layer and support core of the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss is made up of GOLS certified natural Arpico latex. Slightly denser than Talalay, Arpico latex provides ample support for better spinal alignment. It also helps keep the mattress durable and sturdy.
All these foam layers come encased in a GOTS certified 100% organic cotton cover that is both soft and breathable. Latex foam does not retain much heat and is naturally cooling. This makes the Botanical Bliss mattress also a good choice for those who tend to sleep hot.
We did not experience any off-gassing with the Botanical Bliss mattress although we did notice that natural latex mattresses tend to give off an earthy scent. This does not bother us but if it does to you, then we suggest airing out your new mattress for a day or two in a well-ventilated area. Every mattress in the PlushBeds’ arsenal is certified by the Greenguard Gold.
Bear in mind that when you do choose a split Queen option, you may also have to buy split Queen sheets.
Sizes
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Latex mattress comes in 9 different sizes, including a split California King. It measures 9″, 10″ and 12″ in thickness. It is compatible with most bed frames and foundations, including a split Queen adjustable base.

#2. Latex for Less
Check Current Price | Best for Budget Shoppers
Pros:
- Good for those who prefer more responsive beds
- Great for budget shoppers
- Good for those who suffer from seasonal allergies
Cons:
- Not suitable for heavier individuals
- Not suitable for those who suffer from severe chronic pain
A premium quality latex mattress can cost upwards of $2500, if not more. There are cheaper latex mattresses to be had but most of these mattresses are made from different materials than natural latex (i.e. synthetic latex).
If you want to save money but still want a true latex foam feel, Latex for Less offers natural latex mattresses that are made from 100% natural latex at affordable price.
Who should buy the Latex for Less Natural Latex mattress?
- All sleeper types
- Those who prefer a more responsive bed
- Budget shoppers
- Those who suffer from seasonal allergies
Firmness
The Latex for Less Natural Latex mattress features a distinct 2-in-1 design that gives you two firmness levels in one mattress – all you need to do is to flip it. While flippable mattresses are not a new thing, not many mattress brands offer them so it’s always a nice surprise when one does.
Coming at a Firm and a Medium, the Latex for Less Natural Latex mattress could be suitable for all types of sleeping positions, from side sleepers to back and stomach sleepers.
If you do choose the split Queen option, then you could just flip the mattress to the firmness that you prefer.
As previously mentioned, motion transfer should not be a problem when it comes to split Queen mattresses since you basically have a separate mattress from your partner.
Construction
The Latex for Less Natural Latex mattress is only made up of two latex foam layers that act as both the comfort layers and support core. One side is made up of Dunlop latex and is firm. The other side is made up of Talalay latex has a medium-firm feel.
Organic latex is naturally hypoallergenic, making the Natural Latex mattress a good option for those who suffer from allergies. Because the mattress is also made from natural, organic materials, it can be a more affordable option for those who prefer organic mattresses.
Latex foam is responsive and allows sleepers to move about the bed freely. Similar to the feel of a hybrid mattress or a spring mattress, a latex mattress is a great mattress for those who hate the feel of being swallowed up by the bed. We found it very easy to switch between sleeping positions when we tried out the Natural Latex mattress.
Although the Natural Latex mattress offers good pressure relief, those who want extreme pressure relief (i.e. those who suffer from chronic pain) might want to look at memory foam mattresses like Tempur-Pedic.
The latex foam layers in the Natural Latex mattress comes encased in a 100% organic cotton cover that’s stretched and not woven. This ensures a softer sleeping surface.
Latex for Less also utilizes organic wool – not fiberglass – that’s sourced in California as a fire barrier within their mattresses.
Sizes
The Latex for Less Natural Latex mattress comes in 9 sizes and 2 different thicknesses – a 7-inch and a 9-inch. It is compatible with most bed frames and bed bases including an adjustable bed frame.

#3. Mattress Insider Elation
Check Current Price | Best Cooling
Pros:
- For all-foam mattress fans
- For those who prefer customizable options
- For those who prefer thinner mattresses
Cons:
- Not for heavier individuals
- Not suitable for those who prefer thicker mattresses
It is difficult to get quality sleep when the temperatures starts rising. Anyone, ages notwithstanding, can tell you that sleeping hot is akin to not sleeping at all. Not everyone can cultivate an ideal sleeping environment at all times but a good mattress can work wonders.
Customizable to fit just about all of your sleep needs, Mattress Insider’s Elation Gel Foam mattress is made for those who prefer all-foam beds but hate the heat. Although Mattress Insider does not necessarily offer a split Queen mattress, you can most definitely request a split bed.
Who should buy the Mattress Insider Elation Gel Foam mattress?
- Those who prefer a memory foam feel without the heat
- All-foam mattress fans
- Those who prefer customizable options
- Those who prefer thinner mattresses
Firmness
Mattress Insider is another mattress brand that offers flippable mattresses. One side of the Elation Gel Foam mattress is medium-soft, and the other side is medium-firm. This makes it a suitable for all sleeper types, including strict side sleepers.
Actually meant for bed spaces that require mattresses with lower heights (such as RV beds and trundle beds), the Elation Gel Foam mattress measures only 6″ in thickness. This means that it may not be the best option for heavier individuals. We recommend innerspring mattresses like the Dreamcloud mattress for people who are more heavier-set.
Thinner mattresses generally also offer good motion isolation, although when it comes to split Queens which are two mattresses joined into one, it really should not be an issue.
Construction
For a thin mattress the Elation Gel Foam mattress contains quite a few foam layers. The first comfort layer is made up of cooling gel-infused memory foam that’s CertiPUR-US certified. Plush and cooling, this top layer helps wick away body heat, helping those who sleep hot get cooler, more restful sleep.
A more open-celled, proprietary foam makes up the middle layer which also acts as a transition layer between the top and bottom layers. The open cell design allows air to flow throughout the mattress, adding more to the cooling properties of the Elation Gel Foam mattress. This layer also helps provide more support and better spinal alignment.
The third layer is made up of a firmer, higher density foam that’s soy-based. Firm and contouring, it helps offer more cushioned support to those who need it. This makes up the firm mattress side of the Elation Gel Foam mattress. A firm mattress is more suitable to stomach and back sleepers.
The Mattress Insider Elation Gel Foam mattress cover is made from 100% organic cotton. We found it to be soft and cool to the touch.
Although we won’t really deem it as off-gassing, we did experience a slight, new mattress smell upon unboxing the Elation Gel Foam mattress but this dissipated quickly.
If you want to add a little bit more height to your split Queen bed, we suggest adding a split Queen mattress topper.
Sizes
The Mattress Insider Gel Foam mattress comes in standard mattress sizes, standard RV sizes and customizable size options which includes both a standard Queen size and a split Queen. It measures 6″ in thickness and can be used with a wide range of bed frames, bed bases and foundations.
Durability
Mattress Insider offers a 121 risk-free sleep trial for their Elation Gel Foam mattress. It also comes backed with a 15 year warranty. They also offer free shipping for their sleep products within the continental United States.
#4. Innomax Upperflex Freedom Air Digital Airbed
Check Current Price | Best Split Queen Airbed
Pros:
- Good for those who prefer airbeds
- Great for people who move around a lot
- Good for those who prefer manual, adjustable beds
Cons:
- Can be very pricey
- Not suitable for super heavy individuals
Here’s something a little different than your regular, run of the mill foam or hybrid mattress.
The Innomax Upperflex Freedom Digital Airbed is an adjustable bed that comes with preset positions (anti-snore, anyone?) and customizable options. Not for the faint of heart, or those with tight purse strings, this split Queen adjustable bed comes at a premium price.
Who should buy the Innomax Upperflex Freedom Air Digital Airbed?
- Those who prefer airbeds
- Those who prefer tech-y stuff
- Those with money to burn
Firmness
You can adjust the firmness level of the Innomax Freedom Air Digital Airbed at the touch of a button. It can go from very soft to very firm in just a matter of minutes. This makes it a good option for all sleeper types. You can set the firmness option to the level that fits your preference so you get the same firmness all through the night. For the split Queen option, you can set the firmness to varying degrees.
The Freedom Digital Airbed contours to the shape of the sleeper, allowing weight to be distributed evenly. This means it can be suitable for heavier individuals.
Again, a split mattress does away with motion transfer as they are two separate mattresses.
Construction
In fact, it looks very much like a pillow-top bed and somehow feels like it too.
For something that packs a lot of power, the Freedom Air Digital Airbed is compact and lightweight. With a built-in air inflator, we found setup and inflation to be fairly quick and easy. The inflator is not very quiet though but this should not be too much of an issue. The built-in inflator is housed in the foot rail of the airbed, doing away with any unsightly hoses and pumps and wires.
For a bed that uses air as its comfort layers, the Freedom Air Digital Airbed features comfort and transition layers that include a quilted pillow-top, a mid-zone layer that supports spinal alignment and a 5-zone layer that offers zoned support as well as pressure relief for the whole body.
The Freedom Air Digital Airbed also features a PowerEdge design that offers excellent edge support for those who love sleeping close to the edge of the bed.
The mattress cover of the Airbed features a self-mending zipper that maximizes the mattress’ accessibility and durability. We experienced no off-gassing with the Freedom Air Digital Airbed.
Sizes
The Innomax Upperflex Freedom Air Digital Airbed comes in only one size which is a split Queen size bed. It measures 10″ in thickness and works with split queen adjustable beds.
Durability
Sold by Walmart, the Freedom Air Digital Airbed does not come with a sleep trial but Walmart does offer free 30 day returns. The Airbed is backed by a 25 year warranty.

People nowadays are more savvy when it comes to not only what they ingest but also where they lay their heads. Natural and organic mattresses are not only beneficial to the sleeper but are also good for the environment.
The PlushBeds Natural Bliss Latex mattress, like all of PlushBeds’ mattresses, are certified by some of the highest-rated and well regarded organizations in the world such as Greenguard Gold and the eco-institut.
Who should buy the PlushBeds Natural Bliss mattress?
- Those who are more ecologically conscious
- Those who prefer organic beds
- All sleeper types
Firmness
The PlushBeds Natural Bliss mattress comes in two firmness options: a Medium and a Medium-Firm. This makes it suitable for all sleeper types, including strict back sleepers. Although PlushBeds classify their medium as a 7 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale, we actually feel that it’s more of a 5 to 5.5, making it a good choice for combination sleepers or those who sleep predominantly on their sides.
While latex mattresses are inherently springier than most all-foam beds, we do not think the PlushBeds Natural Bliss would be a good choice for those who weigh well over 250 lbs. Though they might sleep comfortably on an all-foam bed, they would not be getting the support that they would need in the long run. We recommend a sturdy, hybrid bed like the Bear Hybrid for heavier individuals.
We found the Natural Bliss mattress to offer both excellent motion isolation and great edge support when we tried it out.
Construction
There are variations to the construction of the PlushBeds Natural Bliss mattress depending on its thickness. Both the 6 and 8-inch options contain 2 latex foam layers while the 10-inch option contains 3.
Latex foam is more responsive than regular memory foam, offering more support than cushion. This is good if you prefer a bed that does not have much sinkage like traditional memory foam does. Latex is also a naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial, making the Natural Bliss mattress a great choice for those who suffer from allergies.
The latex used in PlushBeds’ mattresses are ecologically sourced and ethically produced. While we experienced no off-gassing when we unboxed the PlushBeds Natural Bliss mattress, we did find that it gave off an earthy, plant-like scent, which we didn’t really mind.
The mattress cover of the Natural Bliss mattress is made from GOTS certified, 100% organic cotton and is soft and breathable. The cover is not removable and non-washable so should spills and stains occur, we recommend spot cleaning immediately. We also always advocate the use of mattress protectors, especially when you have a new mattress.
Sizes
The PlushBeds Natural Bliss Latex mattress comes in 9 different sizes, where they also offer split options like the split Queen. It measures 6″, 8″ and 10″ and is compatible with most bed bases, frames and foundations including a split Queen adjustable bed as well as zero gravity beds.

Durability
PlushBeds offer a risk-free 100 night trial for all of their mattresses. The Natural Bliss mattress comes backed by a 25 year warranty.
Split Queen vs Standard Queen mattress
The favored mattress size among couples, the standard Queen mattress can fit two people quite comfortably. But not every couple share the same sleeping position or sleeping habits – this is where the split Queen mattress comes in.
A split Queen mattress gives couples the option to choose their own firmness as well as different treatment options and heights when it comes to adjustable beds. Being joined together means you can get all your cuddles in without sacrificing your sleep needs. Read our guide to what a split-queen mattress is for more information.
Split Queen mattresses are also easier to move around if you’re the type to move homes or change your bedroom layout often.
In the end, it is always up to you and your partner’s preferences when it comes to choosing a bed that’s just right for you.
