The Bear mattress return policy is the one of the simplest return policies we’ve come across but if you’re having a hard time navigating the process, we’re here to help. Read on if you’ve got a Bear mattress to return or exchange.
How the Bear Mattress Return Policy works
Bear offers a 120 night trial period for all of their mattresses, including the Bear Elite Hybrid and Star Hybrid.
You may request a return or exchange only within those 120 days. Once the confirmation has been given that the returned mattress has been received, you will then receive a full refund to the original mode of payment you used when you purchased the mattress.
Unlike other online mattress companies, Bear mattress does not require you to pay a flat fee for shipping and handling so you get a full refund (for the cost of the mattress you got , of course).
But like most mattress companies though, Bear does require a 30 day break-in period for your body to adjust to the mattress before attempting to return it.
Of course, there are a couple of exceptions. As well as terms and conditions.

Terms and conditions
- Bear requires a minimum of 30 nights (which is the break-in period) before you can initiate a return or exchange.
- Only one mattress per customer household is allowed for exchange.
- The 120 night trial period begins the day you receive your mattress.
- Before you can receive the refund, the mattress must be removed from your home by an authorized third party party representative of Brooklyn Bedding LLC (Bear mattress’ parent company) and confirmed received by Brooklyn Bedding LLC.
- Bear will issue a full refund (minus any discounts at the time of purchase) to the original mode of payment used when the mattress was purchased.
- Any mattress (such as the 2019 Bear Hybrid) that are deemed final sale and/or clearance sale will not be eligible for returns, exchanges or refunds.
Initiating the return process
You can initiate the return process by contacting Bear’s customer service team via email at returns@bearmattress.com.
Bear’s customer service will then walk you through the entire process.
As for exchanges, you can initiate one by calling Bear at 844-311-0035.
Return timeframe
You can only initiate a mattress return request within the 120 night sleep trial period and not a day later. If you are even just one day beyond 120 nights, Bear will refuse your return or exchange request.
120 nights is more than enough time, don’t you think?
So if you feel that the Bear mattress you got is not quite the right fit for you, act within those 120 days.
When do you receive your refund
You will be fully refunded for the cost of the mattress once your return has been completed and the returned mattress has been confirmed received by Bear Mattress’ parent company, Brooklyn Bedding LLC.
Once the confirmation has been received, you will then be refunded to the original mode of payment you used when you purchased the mattress.
Depending on your bank, it may take 5-7 business days for the refund to be reflected in your account.
Return fees
Unlike most online mattress brands, Bear returns are free of charge. Bear will cover the costs of return shipping, handling and transportation for returned mattresses.
Exclusions
There are a few exclusions when it comes to Bear mattress returns.
- Only one Bear mattress per household can be returned or exchanged.
- Mattresses that have gone beyond the sleep trial period will not be accepted.
- Mattresses that are damaged, stained or misused will not be accepted for returns or exchanges.
- Once you have exchanged a Bear mattress for another model, that mattress will no longer be eligible for returns or exchanges or a trial period. It will be considered final sale.
Which Bear products can be returned
Aside from mattresses, you can also return other Bear products or have them changed as per Bear’s exchange policy.

- Sheet sets
- Weighted blanket
- Foundations and bed bases

How long is Bear’s trial period?
Before January 2022, Bear’s trial period was 100 days.
From January 2022 onwards, Bear’s sleep trial period is now 120 days for mattresses.
Other Bear products such as mattress toppers, pillows and bedding all have a 30 nights trial period.
How long does the Bear mattress warranty last?
Bear mattresses, including the Natural and Original, all come with a lifetime limited warranty.
This means that for the first couple of years, replacing the mattress is completely free but for every corresponding 3 years, a replacement fee will be charged that goes up in value as the years go by.
Can you exchange a Bear mattress for a new one?
You can most definitely exchange a Bear mattress for a new one should you find that the one who purchased does not suit your needs and preferences.
Like their return policy, Bear’s exchange policy is pretty straightforward and completely free. It also falls under the 120 night trial and the break-in period must be followed.

Bear mattresses can last for a very long time with proper care and maintenance such as regular mattress rotation. Most online mattresses, especially ones made from premium high quality materials, can last up to an upwards of 10 years or even more and Bear mattresses are no exception.
You can most definitely return a mattress to Bear even if you’ve already opened it. That’s what the sleep trial is for.
