The WinkBeds GravityLux is a 100% memory foam mattress. I’ll admit that I was a little bit skeptical when I first heard about this brand, since mattresses at this price point are generally hybrids with a sturdy coil support layer. Can an all-foam mattress really provide enough support, durability, and comfort to justify this premium price tag? Let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised. Here’s why.
WinkBeds GravityLux Review and Performance Test Results

- Slight off-gassing
Our experience with WinkBeds GravityLux Mattress
Most memory foam mattresses are nothing more than a single slab of foam. Nothing special or complex about them.
So I was a bit surprised when I saw that the GravityLux is made out of multiple layers, each containing different types of memory foam.
OK. I’m definitely intrigued.
Proprietary foams such as Aircell, Progression foam and Atlas Core foam make up the GravityLux mattress, along with a gel infusion to help offset the heat-retentive properties of memory foam.
Truth be told, we weren’t expecting the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress to perform well when it comes to cooling due to memory foam’s inherent nature, but we were more than pleasantly surprised when we tried it out. This mattress sleeps COOL.
What we liked most about the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress is that it has contouring and compressing traits that made us to wake up feeling like we slept on a literal cloud, one that’s comfortable yet supportive – even if you suffer from back pain.
That said though, the GravityLux mattress’ firmness levels are a bit misleading and we found its medium version to be quite firm, so if you’re a side sleeper or combination sleeper we think it’s best for you to choose the soft version which would feel more like a medium from other brands.
Firmness Test
The WinkBeds GravityLux mattress comes in 3 different firmness levels to choose from – soft, medium and firm.
As we’ve mentioned earlier, the firmness levels of the GravityLux mattress are a bit misleading and they all tend to skew a little firmer, so the soft feels more like a medium, the medium feels more like a medium-firm and the firm feels extra firm, so it’s best to keep this in mind when choosing your GravityLux mattress.
Even though the WinkBeds GravityLux is an all-foam mattress (unlike the latex EcoCloud model), it can still accommodate sleepers who are slightly (key word: slightly) heavier than average due to its firmer feel and thicker foam layers.
Cooling Test
We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 10 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
For an all-foam mattress that’s made up of memory foam, the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress performed exceptionally well when it comes to cooling.
The top layer of the GravityLux mattress is infused with cooling gel that helps do away with heat retention, and the memory foam comfort layer is open-celled, which means that it features air capsules that allow air to flow through freely throughout the entire mattress.
The mattress cover of the GravityLux mattress is made from Tencel, a material which is proven to be both breathable and moisture-wicking.
Motion Isolation Test
We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 10 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
It’s no secret that all-foam mattresses are god-tier when it comes to motion isolation, but rarely do we rate one a 10 out of 10 (which I guess makes the WinkBeds GravityLux super god-tier).
If you share a bed with a partner, this is definitely the bed for you.
Edge Support Test
We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 10 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
This one truly surprised us.
Usually mattresses that have offer great edge support feature reinforced edge coils, which gives the mattress a robust, you’re-never-going-to fall-off-the-bed-unless-somebody-pushes-you sort of edge support, but the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress, for reasons unclear, performs astoundingly well when it comes to edge support.
This is great because not only will you NOT roll off the bed but you’ll also be able to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress.
Pressure Relief/Comfort
We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 7 out of 10 when it comes to pressure relief/comfort.
The only reason the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress does not get full marks from us for comfort is that its firmness levels, like we said, skew a little firm which is very misleading for, well, everyone (a common complaint about the brand).
BUT.. you still do get the same contouring, pressure relief and compression that you would expect from a high-quality memory foam mattress – just make sure to choose a firmness level on step lower than what you would normally buy.
Construction
Most WinkBeds mattresses feature a surprisingly simple construction and this mattress is no exception.
There are only 4 layers to the WinkBeds GravityLux.
The first layer of the GravityLux mattress is made up of cooling gel-infused memory foam. This is the layer that’s responsive for the mattress’ initial compression and contouring.
The second comfort layer is made up of WinkBeds’ own memory foam called Aircell. It features air capsules and open cells which helps with heat dissipation and pressure relief.
Below that lies a transition layer made from proprietary Progression foam. This layer offers zoned support from your shoulders down to your lumbar area.
The base layer is made up of a high density foam layer. It provides so-called pushback support while also helping hold the top layers together. This layer is also guaranteed to be sag-free.
Durability
Just like the other WinkBed mattress that we’ve tried, the GravityLux mattress can last you a very long time (especially with proper care and maintenance).
