This is the one brand you do not have to worry about. You can find Tempur-Pedic mattresses almost anywhere – big department stores that sell home goods, their websites, small mattress chains, local mattress stores, and, of course, the official Tempur-Pedic website and Tempur-Pedic stores.
Places where you can buy a Tempur-Pedic mattress online and in person
- Tempur-Pedic website and showrooms
- Macy’s
- Costco
- Amazon
- Walmart
- Sam’s Club
- Mattress Firm
- Ashley Furniture
- JC Penney
- Home Depot
- Local mattress stores
And many more places that haven’t made the list.
Just one note about the chain stores from above: some locations may not have each model in stock, but you might be able to find the product you need on their website. Also, when you go to physical stores, don’t forget to ask for price matching!
Finally, some large retail stores used to carry Tempur-Pedic, but don’t anymore.
These include Bed, Bath, & Beyond and Lowe’s. Target only offers the baby crib mattress by Tempur and some accessories, but not regular mattresses.
Tempur-Pedic website and showrooms
The Tempur-Pedic website is easy to navigate and has a chatbot that can answer most of your inquiries. For more complex questions, you can contact customer support via chat or phone.
Free white glove delivery is included with the purchase of a new mattress, and you should keep an eye out for any seasonal discounts. Tempur-Pedic has a 90-day trial period.
You can get buy now, pay later mattress financing right on the website at checkout. If you’re approved, you’ll get a Wells Fargo Tempur-Pedic credit card which offers 0% APR for 36 months (I’ll let you head over there and read the fine print for all the financing terms).
Other ways to get this card into your hands are over the phone or by visiting a Tempur-Pedic showroom. That also happens to be the place where you get to personally check whether you agree with our best Tempur-Pedic mattresses list because Tempur showrooms have the widest assortment of mattresses.
On the other hand, maybe you would realize that you’re one of the people who tend to complain about Tempur-Pedic mattresses. I don’t know. You have to try.
Speaking of brick-and-mortar locations, Tempur-Pedic has 99 official stores across the US. Some states even don’t have an official showroom, but the more populated ones may have more than one in a single county.
If you’re buying a bed from a retailer, you should look into that particular company’s financing and delivery options.
Macy’s
Macy’s has a huge selection of Tempur-Pedic mattresses; it seems like they have all models, including all sizes and all firmness options plus the accessories.
The trial period for mattresses bought at Macy’s is 120 nights – longer than Tempur’s original trial.
You can get white glove delivery for $125 or delivery to the room of your choice for $75, which excludes the unpacking and assembly.
However, if you need to return a mattress, you have to contact Macy’s within the last 7 days of your trial and must opt for a new mattress within two weeks.
You won’t get your money back, just the credit to get another mattress of equal or greater value. Oh, yes – the credit is not the entire amount you paid; they withhold a $99 return fee plus a 15% “preference return fee”, which may be lower than 15% for some brands.
Costco
This is an interesting one.
You can’t try a Tempur-Pedic mattress at Costco, but you can order one, get white glove delivery, and then try it out.
The surprise lies in the models – there are three Tempur-Pedic models sold by Costco that are not available on the Tempur-Pedic website or anywhere else:
- Tempur-Cloud Supreme
- Tempur-Contour Supreme
- Tempur-Flex Prima
These models are only made for Costco and the main difference is that they are actually a bit obsolete; they don’t have the cooling technology the modern Tempur beds do.
There seems to be a contract between the two companies so that only Costco can sell these three models. They are a few hundred bucks cheaper than other Tempur mattresses.
You can get an in-home delivery but you must have removed the old mattress and cleared the foundation. Costco has a risk-free 100% satisfaction guarantee, which means that you can return a mattress at any time if you simply don’t like it.
Based on what most Costco members say, the returns are truly hassle-free.
Amazon
TempurPedic has its own shop on Amazon where you can buy mattresses, adjustable bases, pillows, covers, etc.
Pretty much everything you can find on tempurpedic.com. You can get interest-free payments if you are approved for Amazon Visa.
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are eligible for returns, refunds, and replacements.
Walmart
Just like you can find various sellers, including the manufacturer, on Amazon, you can find Tempur-Pedic as a direct seller on Walmart’s website. So, when you buy a new Tempur-Pedic mattress from Walmart, it gets actually sold and shipped by Tempur-Pedic.
This online option gives you mattress financing options through Affirm.
You still have 90 days to test out the mattress, and you can return it to a Walmart store even if you bought it online. Restocking fees might be applicable. Mattresses can only be exchanged for the same or similar item.
As for viewing mattresses in-store, bear in mind that only select stores have mattresses on display.
If you’re looking to try out mattresses in Walmart stores, better make sure they actually have them.
Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club has a limited selection of Tempur-Pedic mattresses.
Don’t be surprised if they only have one size or one firmness option for a particular model. Box springs and foundations may or may not be available.
Still, a purchase at Sam’s Club comes with white glove delivery and you can get a Sam’s Club credit card if approved.
They also note that prices that you can see online may differ from in-store prices.
Mattress Firm
The main thing I like about stores dedicated to mattresses only is that you don’t only get to compare numerous models of one brand, but you get to compare the comfort and support of various brands – a lot of them.
At Mattress Firm, you can see how Tempur-Pedic compares to Serta, Amerisleep, Beautyrest, or the notorious Nectar.
Enter your zip code on the website to see whether you can try a particular model in the nearest store.
You can also shop for an adjustable base, a mattress topper, and other accessories there.
If you’re approved, you can get a Mattress Firm Synchrony HOME Credit Card and divide the total amount into equal monthly payments.
Mattress Firm offers a 120-night trial period on all mattresses but requires you to sleep on the new mattress for at least 30 days to give it (and yourself) time to adjust.
You can exchange the mattress once but they will take the $99 shipping fee and a 10% of the mattress value restocking fee.
Ashley Furniture
Ashley Furniture has a solid selection of Tempur-Pedic products.
In-store availability may differ from online, but if you look under each product on their website, you’ll see the nearest store in which you can see it in person.
Financing options are not the same if you shop online and in a physical store; you can get 12 months financing online and 60 months if you buy it in person. However, on the website, you can apply online discounts which may not be available in stores.
Ashley offers a number of delivery options and each has a different price. A reason to possibly avoid Ashley?
“Mattresses and Foundations may only be returned if delivered damaged or later found to be defective.”
This means no trial period. In the golden age of trial periods, Ashley decided not to have any of that.
JC Penney
Mattresses come with white glove delivery at JC Penney, and the assortment of Tempur-Pedic products is excellent.
Unfortunately, you can’t try them out at physical stores because JC Penney only offers Tempur-Pedic mattresses online.
You have to return a mattress within 120 days and:
Returns will be charged a 15% restocking fee and the pick-up fee will be waived if an alternate mattress is selected. If an alternate mattress is not selected there will be a 20% restocking fee and an $85 pick-up fee.
However, although there is a 120-day return window, JC Penney doesn’t explicitly say you have a trial period.
Some unhappy customers who wanted to return a mattress found themselves in confusion after company reps confronted them for opening the mattress and using it.
Apparently, they only take unused mattresses back.
Home Depot
If you’re planning to shop through Home Depot, you don’t have to worry about mattress selection or information available on the website.
You can search individual stores and each item shows as either available for pickup or delivery (or both). The new Tempur-Pedic bed-in-a-box model can ship to a store or your home.
As for other mattresses, you can only order them for delivery and cannot see or purchase them at brick-and-mortar stores.
But if you need to return them, you can do so either by bringing them to stores or scheduling a return online.
Unfortunately, they consider mattresses furniture (most retailers view and treat them separately from other furniture) and as such, you have to return yours within only 30 days.
Local mattress stores
With all the big chain store names out there, we sometimes forget about the old-fashioned mom-and-pop shop from down the street.
Lots of small local stores carry Tempur-Pedic because it is one of the most popular, recommended, and sold mattresses in the United States.
Call them up and ask if they have Tempur-Pedic in store.
How to find a Tempur-Pedic retailer near you
It’s actually super easy to find stores nearby.
Just go to the Tempur-Pedic website and choose one of the four options:
- Tempur-Pedic stores
- Closest 5 retailers
- Elite retailers (means they have a broad selection of products and high product knowledge)
- All retailers
After you make that selection, you’ll be able to filter by location and radius. Finally, you can check out the map and list of nearby stores.
You can also use Google Maps (although this info is updated by the retailer and may not always be correct).
Search “Tempur-Pedic near me”, and in the list of stores, you’ll see a note right under the phone number and working hours. “In Stock: Tempur mattresses. Updated today”, which pretty certainly means that they have the brand you’re looking for.
FAQs
For a Queen-size mattress, Tempur prices go from $1,400 to $4,600. It really depends on the model, but if you’re buying from a retailer, definitely compare the price from Tempur website to the price the retailer offers. Also, check for any ongoing discounts and see if you can match the price. Also feel free to compare the price of Tempur-Pedic to the cost of other queen mattresses, but also take quality into account.
There’s no unique answer, but on average, Tempur-Pedic mattresses last for about 12 years. Many old customers say theirs lasted for 20 years, but since we live in times of cutting down on production costs, don’t be surprised if your Tempur-Pedic mattress or adjustable base ends up lasting less than that. After all, Tempur split the warranty in half. It used to be 20 years, and now it’s 10 years.
Tempur-Pedic lasts longer than average mattresses and it doesn’t contain cheap materials (Tempur mattresses don’t have fiberglass, which makes them safe to clean and sleep on). Tempur contains proprietary foams and technologies that they developed through decades of work. This company managed to remain one of the biggest names in the mattress industry for a long time and that also has a price.
Conclusion
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are much easier to find online than in-store.
Many retailers have them on their websites, but not in physical stores (or they do, but only in select ones). A lot of them rely on trial periods so they don’t even make room for mattress showing, but it’s still in your interest to be able to try the mattress out yourself before buying it.
It sure is easy to do a few clicks at home when you know what you’ll be getting.
The Tempur-Pedic website can help you find the nearest retailer and if you decide to buy a mattress from a retail store, bear in mind that trial periods, warranty, financing options, and return policies vary greatly.
