So you want to return your Saatva mattress but you’re a little unsure of how their return process works. Saatva’s return policy is fairly straightforward but we’ve broken it down for you further so you won’t have to go through all the trouble of combing over through all the fine print.
How the Saatva mattress return policy works
If your Saatva mattress is still within the 365 day trial period, you are able to return it and get a full refund of the purchase price.
Saatva’s return policy covers all their mattress models, including the Saatva Classic mattress and the Loom and Leaf mattress but bear in mind that the trial period for Saatva’s crib mattress is only 45 days. Read our Saatva mattress review for more details about their different models.
Not a lot of mattress brands offer a 365 day trial period. This gives you a lot of time to try out the Saatva mattress and find out if it’s the right one for you.
Alternatively, you may also have your Saatva mattress exchanged. This also falls within the return policy and sleep trial period but with a few extra steps.
However, Saatva does not offer free mattress removal for your Saatva mattress. Returning a Saatva mattress requires you to pay a nominal fee for mattress pickup and shipping.
How to initiate a refund
To initiate the refund process and return request, you first need to contact the Saatva customer service team. You need to give them a call through their hotline at 1-877-672-2882.
They then schedule a pickup of your mattress and issue you a refund amounting to the full purchase price of your mattress, taxes included. The refund will be sent to the method of payment you used at the time of purchase.
Free trial period
As we’ve mentioned previously, Saatva offers a risk-free trial period for their mattresses of 365 days – that’s a full year of you being able to try out any Saatva mattress you want.
This also means that you have a full year to be able to decide whether you would like to keep the Saatva mattress or not. Most people are able to find out whether a mattress is the right fit for them or not between 1 to 3 months.
Return window
In line with the trial period, the return window for sending back a Saatva mattress is 365 days or 1 full year. Once you get past the 1 year mark though, even if it’s just a day over, you would not be able to return it nor get a refund. No leeways, no allowances – even if it’s just one day.
Timeframe for receiving your refund
Once you contact customer service and have lodged your return request, it will take 7 days for your refund to be processed. The time the funds are reflected onto your account depends on the financial institution you have used at the time of purchase – this usually takes 5-10 days and sometimes even more.
Return fees
Saatva charges a $99 processing fee for both returns and exchanges of Saatva mattresses. This fee covers both pickup and shipping of your old mattress. Also, you don’t have to do anything such as packing your mattress – Saatva’s pickup team will be doing all the work for you.
Exclusions
As stated in their warranty, Saatva will not accept mattresses that have been physically destroyed, stained or tampered with. The mattress tag must still be intact and attached. Mattresses that have been used for commercial purposes are not eligible for returns or refunds.
Saatva also has the right to refuse a refund/return if the purchaser cannot provide the original proof of purchase such as the official receipt.
How to exchange a Saatva mattress for a new one
Exchanging your Saatva mattress is very easy thanks to Saatva’s comprehensive exchange policy. The same methods apply if you would like to exchange your Saatva mattress.
You need to contact Saatva’s customer service team to request for an exchange that falls within the agreements as stated in Saatva’s mattress warranty. Saatva also offers what they call their ‘Fairness Replacement’ option that allows you to keep your old Saatva mattress instead of having it exchanged and you get a new mattress for a fraction of the price.

What Saatva products can be returned
Not all Saatva products can be returned or exchanged. Some are non-negotiable from the get go while others won’t be accepted due to improper use.
Bear in mind that every exchange or return process has a $99 service and delivery fee.
Mattresses
Saatva mattresses can either be returned or exchanged. This covers all brands under Saatva which includes the Loom and Leaf mattress as well as the Zenhaven mattress.
You get a couple of options under Saatva’s mattress warranty but the Saatva mattress return policy usually spans the length of time as the sleep trial period provided which for most Saatva mattresses is 365 days.
Crib mattresses only get 45 days and should you need to exchange or return one, it must be done within that time frame.
Mattress toppers
Saatva’s mattress toppers can be returned but not exchanged. Toppers can be returned within 180 days of the delivery date and refunded fully. This applies to all mattress topper types that Saatva offers.
Furniture
Bedroom furniture such as the Saatva bed frame and foundations can be both returned or exchanged within the 365 day trial period. This applies to other furniture as well such as bedroom chairs and ottomans.
Rugs, however, can be returned with the 45 day trial period but not exchanged.
Pillows and bedding
All pillows and bedding from Saatva can be returned within the 45 day trial period but not exchanged. This includes sheets, duvets and comforters, blankets and quilts as well as eye masks and bedding bundles.
How the Saatva warranty works
Saatva is one of the few brands to offer a lifetime warranty.
Every Saatva mattress (and any other Saatva product for that matter) is made with high quality materials and expert craftsmanship, but sometimes a product with a slight defect can slip through quality control. If this happens, Saatva’s warranty covers each aspect from return, exchange and/or repair.
When it comes to mattresses, Saatva will send a replacement mattress within the first two years from date of delivery free of charge. From year 3, Saatva will recover and repair your Saatva mattress with a $149 shipping and processing fee. This applies to all Saatva mattress models except for the Solaire mattress which covers 5 years free of charge.
