Nolah touts its new(ish) Evolution 15 mattress as their luxurious high-tech hybrid mattress and I have to say, I quite agree.

Designed and assembled in the USA, the Nolah Evolution 15 features a plush, Euro top mattress surface that can rival high-end mattresses found in 5-star hotels.

Although its edge support leaves much to be desired (mostly due to the aforementioned plush Euro top surface), we found its benefits far outweighs the cons.

Firmness test

Nolah evolution 15 firmness levels

The Nolah Evolution mattress’ firmness comes in 3 levels: Plush, Luxury Firm and Firm. You have the option to choose which level corresponds to your preferred sleeping position.

On the mattress firmness scale, the Plush sits on a 3, the Luxury Firm sits on a 5.5 (which makes it a medium to medium-firm while the Firm sits on a 7.

Strict side sleepers should choose the Plush firmness level since it offers the most pressure relief for their main pressure points (which are the hips and shoulders btw, in case you didn’t know).

The Luxury Firm model suits all sleeper types from side and combination sleepers to back and stomach sleepers. Not too firm and not too soft, this is Nolah Evolution’s most popular firmness option.

Strict stomach and back sleepers need something firmer and the Nolah Evolution’s Firm option gives just that.

Checking the firmness level of the Luxury Firm version

A softer mattress would cause the lumbar area of back and stomach sleepers to sink in, thus throwing off their spinal alignment. If you’re a lightweight stomach sleeper however, you might find the Firm option to be a little too firm so your best bet is the Luxury Firm.

Being a hybrid mattress, the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress can support sleepers of all body weights, including those who weigh well over 250 lbs.

Construction

There are 7 layers to the Nolah Evolution 15 (yep, 7).

They all come encased in an organic cotton cover that’s blended with heat-dissipating ArcticTex fibers which helps you sleep cool and dry.

It isn’t cool to the touch like other active cooling mattresses but we found it to be moisture-wicking.

The primary comfort layer is the Euro topper that’s made up of breathable foam that features high-thermal conductivity which adds to the mattress’ cooling capabilities. It also gives the mattress its characteristic plushness which offers pressure relief.

Here’s something not a lot of mattresses have – the Nolah Evolution 15 features a 4-inch AirBreath border gusset that’s sole purpose is to allow heat to escape instead of accumulating within the mattress.

Ingenious, isn’t it?

This makes the Nolah Evolution hybrid mattress a great choice for hot sleepers.

Is the Nolah Evolution 15 comfortable? According to Ethan, the answer is YES.

The other comfort layer is made up of a proprietary memory foam alternative that’s a step up from the old Evolution mattress AirFoam.

The new Evolution 15 mattress contains the AirFoamICE. Infused with graphite, the AirFoamICE 3 times faster than the original AirFoam.

This layer also helps provide even more pressure relief as well body contouring that true memory foam is most known for.

Beneath that lies a layer of support foam that provides targeted support especially for the lumbar area.

The transition layer is made up of adaptable foam that counteracts the sinkage of the memory foam layers. This layer also absorbs the movement of the coils below.

The coil unit of the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress is made up of 8-inch HDMax Tri-zone coils that offers support and durability while also providing responsiveness.

Each and every one of the coils are individually wrapped which helps deaden any cross mattress movement. The coils are also grouped into three zones, each zone targeting parts of the body that need support the most.

Surrounding the coil unit is a thicker layer of reinforced edge coils that’s supposed to help with edge support but unfortunately, the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress’ edge support left us, well, hanging (literally).

The base layer is made up of high density, plant-based support foam that holds all the upper layers in place and helps stabilize the entire mattress.

All of the foam layers in the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress are CertiPUR-US certified. Nolah also uses a fiberglass-free fire barrier.

Like anything in life though, the Nolah comes with its fair share of complaints.

Cooling test

Almost all the components of the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress contain some form of cooling properties.

From the ArcticTex cover to the graphite-infused foam and the heat escape gusset which allows body heat to escape, the Nolah Evolution 15 is definitely one of the most cooling mattresses we’ve tried.

Most hybrid mattresses are already pretty cooling because coils allow air to flow freely throughout the mattress but the addition of all the proprietary cooling features in the Nolah Evolution 15 hybrid mattress takes the mattress’ cooling capabilities up a notch.

Motion transfer test

Of course there’ll always be a slight bounce to hybrids and innerspring mattresses and the Nolah Evolution is no exception.

But features such as individually pocketed coils and transition layers help deaden movement.

We found the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress to work very well when it comes to motion isolation with our test partner only feeling movement when we were actually jumping on the bed (which, we admit, is quite an unconventional form of testing for motion transfer but hey, it works).

Durability

Made with premium quality and high-grade materials that are meant to last a long time, the Nolah Evolution 15’s seven-layered construction is built to withstand long term use, no matter your body weight or sleeping positions.

Why did Nolah create the Evolution 15 mattress?

Nolah created the Evolution 15 mattress round out their (already impressive) mattress lineup.

To add to that, Nolah recently upgraded the Evolution 15 mattress to be more cooling and pressure-relieving.

Only fitting that it’s named Evolution, no?
