Our experience with Durable Mattress
I really liked the Durable Mattress – for the most part.
While it’s marketed towards all sleeper types (since it comes in different firmness levels), there is a select group of people who would not feel too comfortable sleeping on the Durable Mattress (*cough cough* hot sleepers *cough cough*).
But let’s talk about what I like about it first.
For a mattress that contains a pretty robust coil unit, the Durable Mattress absorbs movement really well – in fact, it performs much like an all-foam mattress when it comes to motion isolation – which means it’s a great choice if you share a bed with a partner.
Another thing I liked about it is that no matter what firmness level you choose, you still get enough pressure relief which, of course, equates to comfort.
The Durable Mattress is also flippable.
While you don’t get two different firmness levels in one like most other flippable mattresses, you do still get to extend the lifespan of your mattress (since you can sleep on both sides) which is always a good thing, especially when it comes to value for money.
Firmness
You get to choose between three different firmness levels: soft, medium and firm.
The soft version is best for side sleepers.
The medium version can cater to most sleeper types (including combination sleepers).
The firm version is best for back and stomach sleepers since it not only provides you with enough pressure relief, it also helps with proper spinal alignment.
Since it’s a hybrid mattress with a coil support layer, it can support those who weigh well over 230 lbs.
Cooling Test
We rate the Durable Mattress a 6 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
Aside from the cooling cover, it doesn’t contain any actively-cooling materials.
Sad to say, it shows.
Although Durable claims their mattress is cooling, my experience says quite the opposite – the multiple layers of man-made foam retained a significant amount of heat.
Motion Transfer Test
We rate the Durable mattress a 9.5 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
Here’s where I have to thank the multiple layers of foam: the Durable Mattress does a very good job of absorbing cross-mattress movement.
I barely felt any motion transfer when I tried the mattress out with a partner.
This makes it an excellent choice if you share a bed.
Edge Support Test
We rate the Durable Mattress a 6 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
Although the mattress contains reinforced edge coils, I find the edge support to be pretty much non-existent – you will find yourself rolling off the edge if you’re the type of sleeper who likes to sleep close to the edge of the bed.
Pressure Relief Test
We rate the Durable Mattress an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
Both sides mattress – no matter which firmness level you choose – provide more than enough pressure relief and compression.
The coil unit also provides responsive support and it also helps with proper spinal alignment.
Construction
There are seven layers to the Durable Mattress. These layers come encased in a cooling cover that also has hypoallergenic properties.
The first layer of the Durable Mattress is made up of a high density quilted foam that acts and feels like a pillowtop for added comfort.
The second layer is made up of pressure relief foam: a memory foam alternative that provides contouring and compression much like traditional memory foam but without any of the sinkage.
The third layer is made up of dense HD transition support foam. It not only acts as a transition foam but also helps provide more support.
The coil unit of the Durable Mattress is made up of pocketed-steel coils that help provide zoned support.
Thicker edge coils also surround the perimeter of the entire mattress.
The same three comfort layers lie beneath the coil unit and you are able to flip the mattress to your liking.
I did experience a significant amount of off-gassing when I first unboxed the mattress but this quickly dissipated within the first 48 hours.
Durability
The mattress is made out of premium and high-quality materials that are made to last a long time.
The mattress’ flippable design helps extend the lifespan of your mattress by allowing you to use both sides of the bed to minimize premature mattress sag.
Sizes
The Durable Mattress comes in six different firmness levels and measures 14 inches in thickness. It is compatible with most bed frames, foundations and bed bases (including adjustable bases).

Conclusion
Unlike most mattresses that feature a dual-sided construction that have two different firmness levels on each side, the Durable Mattress focuses more on longevity and durability.
You get the exact same firmness level on each side, but since you can flip it it’ll last much longer than a standard one-sided mattress.
Motion isolation is the standout feature of this mattress. If you share the bed with a partner, you won’t feel any movement whatsoever, no matter how much they toss and turn. For that reason, I highly recommend that couples buy this mattress.
The weakest part of the mattress is its cooling capabilities. To put it plainly: I wasn’t impressed. At all. Look elsewhere if you’re a hot sleeper.
