Can a copper-infused mattress really improve your sleep? To be honest, it sounds like a bit of a gimmick…but maybe there’s some truth behind the bold claims. I tested out the new Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro – an upgraded version of the base model CopperFlex mattress. Is it really worth the added cost? Let’s find out.

Our experience with the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Mattress

I have to be brutally honest here, the CopperFlex Pro, although quite good when it comes to its overall performance, falls short of my expectations (especially when it’s supposedly an upgrade).

In fact, it performs so similarly to its lower-priced counterpart the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex that it felt as though I was sleeping on the same mattress (sorry, BB).

But let me tell you what I did like.

Comfort-wise, the CopperFlex Pro offered ample pressure relief thanks to its combination of comfort foam layers, which includes a copper-infused memory foam and a quilt foam top layer that somewhat feels like a plush pillow top.

Another thing of note is that for a hybrid mattress, it holds its own when it comes to absorbing any cross-mattress movement. This makes it an excellent choice for couples.

On the down side, it can be a little too firm for those who sleep only on their sides and are of average weight.

Firmness

Brooklyn bedding Copperflex Pro firmness guide

The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro sits on a 7 on the mattress firmness scale giving it a medium-firm feel.

For me though, it veers more towards the firmer end of the spectrum. This is great for back and stomach sleepers but can be detrimental to a petite side sleeper’s main pressure points.

I think this mattress is a decent option for heavyweight sleepers. Since it’s a hybrid, it has a support core made of coils which can help support the additional weight.

Cooling Test

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro a 6 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.

True, it contains copper-infused memory foam (which should help keep you cool) as well as a coil unit (which usually allows for better airflow) but for some reason, the CopperFlex Pro just retained quite a good amount of heat.

Bad news for all hot sleepers out there.

Motion Transfer Test

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro an 8 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.

Despite the coil unit, I couldn’t feel any movement when I slept on the mattress with a partner.

Edge Support Test

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro a 7.5 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.

The mattress contains reinforced edge coils which helps give the mattress extra support around the perimeter.

You’ll be able to sit or sleep on the edge of the mattress just fine.

Pressure Relief Test

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.

The four comfort layers basically hug all the contours of your body, keeping pressure off the pain points.

Construction

There are six layers to the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex.

These layers come encased in Brooklyn Bedding’s patented GlacioTex cooling cover which is designed to be both breathable and moisture-wicking.

Front edge of the CopperFlex Pro mattress
The CopperFlex Pro is made out of six different layers.

The top layer of the mattress is made up of a pressure relieving quilt foam that acts like a plush pillow top for added compression and comfort.

Below that lies a layer of proprietary memory foam that’s infused with copper particles which help with heat retention.

Next comes a VariFlex transition foam layer that helps enhance the contouring effects of the zoned lumbar support foam below.

The zoned lumbar support foam helps provide targeted support to the lumbar area while also helping with proper spinal alignment.

The coil unit of the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro is made up of up to 760 individually-wrapped spring coils that provide extra support for your entire body.

The base layer is made up of high density foam. This layer helps hold all the other layers together, which helps make the mattress durable and stable.

Durability

Here at Sleepline, we have tried more than a few Brooklyn Bedding mattresses (see my Aurora Luxe review for an example) and I can definitely attest that the quality and materials in the CopperFlex Pro more than live up to the standard set by their other models.

Well-made mattresses can last you a very long time, especially with proper care and maintenance.

Where to Buy the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Mattress

You can find the Copperflex Pro at Amazon and Walmart… but the best place to buy it is from Brooklyn Bedding’s official website.

I always recommend buying mattresses directly from the brand for a few reasons.

The customer service is always much better. It also ensures that you get proper warranty support, which can always be iffy when you buy from third-party retailers.

But it’s up to you.

Conclusion

The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro is supposedly the big daddy of their CopperFlex series… but aside from the built-in GlacioTex cooling cover and an extra foam layer, it feels and performs the same as their baseline CopperFlex model.

That’s not to say that it’s bad – it provides good pressure relief and great edge support plus it’s perfect for couples – it’s just not worth the extra bucks if you’re truly looking for an upgrade.
