Our experience with the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Mattress

When it all boils down to it, comfort and pressure relief is the number one most important thing we all look for (and need) in a bed.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe
Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe

So we’ll have you know that the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress is one of very few mattresses that we have rated full marks when it comes to comfort and that’s saying a lot since we’ve now tried over a hundred different mattresses.

Featuring a plush and luxe pillow top, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress also contains a robust pocketed zoned coil unit that provides responsiveness and zoned support while also promoting continuous airflow.

Another thing that stands out with the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is its use of actively cooling materials such as a proprietary GlacioTex cover, a copper-infused hyperelastic comfort foam  as well as the individually encased coils. All these work together to form a mattress that’s exceptionally cooling.

There are a few key things that we weren’t very happy with though and that’s the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress’ edge support and motion isolation which could be a deal breaker for some people.

Firmness Test

firmness guide of Brooklyn Bedding aurora luxe

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress comes in 3 different firmness levels to choose from: soft, medium and firm. The soft version (which sits on a 3 on the mattress firmness scale) is best for those who sleep strictly on their sides while the medium version (5 on the mattress firmness scale) can accommodate all sleeper types including combination sleepers. Back and stomach sleepers would do very well on the firm version (7 on the firmness scale) as it would help them achieve proper spinal alignment.

Being a hybrid mattress, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress can provide the extra support that heavier-set individuals need.

Cooling Test

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.

As we’ve mentioned previously, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe contains actively cooling materials such as a proprietary GlacioTex mattress cover that feels cool to the touch and helps wick away any heat.

It also contains a layer of copper-infused foam that helps draw heat away from the mattress keeping it cool and fresh all throughout.

Motion Isolation Test

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe a 6.5 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.

Unfortunately, we experienced quite a significant amount of motion transfer when we tried the mattress out with a partner.

A combination of factors such as the mattress’ bouncier than usual coil unit as well as the pillow top mattress surface contribute to the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress’ poor motion isolation.

If you sleep alone then this should not matter to you but if you share your bed with a partner (especially one who weighs heavier than you are) then you might want to look at other mattress options.

Edge Support Test

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe a 6 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.

Verdict on edge support: It’s OK

This is another area wherein the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe performed poorly. While edge support really isn’t quite a make or break deal such as comfort and pressure relief, it is still beneficial especially for those who like to sleep on or close to the edge of the bed.

Good edge support also allows you to utilize more of the mattress surface.

Sad to say that the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress’ edge support leaves a lot to be desired.

Pressure Relief/Comfort

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe a 10 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.

The Aurora Luxe’s pressure relief blew us away with how good it was

Here’s where the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe really shines.

Remember the plush pillow top I keep talking about?

That plus the combination of comfort foam layers in the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress offer deep compression as well as maximum pressure relief for all the body’s main pressure points no matter what your preferred sleeping position may be.

Construction

There are 5 layers to the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress.

All these layers come encased in a proprietary GlacioTex cooling cover that’s cool to the touch and helps wick away heat and moisture.

The mattress has five different layers…

The topmost layer of the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress is made up of a plush pillow top that helps provide ultimate contouring as well as pressure point relief.

The second layer is made up of a hyper-elastic foam that’s infused with copper which helps with heat retention and is also antibacterial.

The third layer is made up of VariFlex transition foam – a polyfoam that offers support and also acts as a transition layer between the comfort foam and the mattress’ coil unit.

The coil unit of the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is made up of zoned coils that come individually wrapped. This layer offers zoned support for the entire body.

We did not experience any off-gassing when we first unboxed the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress.

The base layer is made up of high density foam that offers stability while also helping hold all the top layers together.

Durability

We have tried a couple of mattresses from Brooklyn Bedding by now so without any doubt whatsoever we can attest to the quality of their mattresses as well as the materials they use.
