One of the few brands in the mattress industry that offer lifetime warranty, Saatva is renowned for their high-end mattresses and top-tier customer service. Replacing a defective mattress shouldn’t be too much of a hassle; but what does lifetime warranty mean exactly, especially when it comes to mattresses? What exactly does it cover? We’ve read all the fine print so you don’t have to.
Warranty length
Saatva is a mattress company that offers lifetime warranty for all of their mattresses, which includes the Saatva Classic mattress and Loom & Leaf, which is their luxury memory foam mattress known for its exceptional pressure relief and edge support.
When buying a new mattress from Saatva, not only does it come with a lifetime warranty and a 365-night risk-free trial period, but a complimentary white glove delivery service and free shipping as well. Saatva also offers a mattress removal service for your old mattress once you get your new mattress delivered for a nominal fee.
But lifetime warranty does not necessarily mean exactly what it says, especially when it comes to mattresses.
What is covered under the Saatva mattress warranty
Every Saatva mattress is guaranteed to be free from defects but should a mattress be deemed defective either in workmanship or materials, Saatva will send a replacement mattress completely free of charge for the first 2 years. The new mattress shall be the same make and model as well as firmness option as the mattress that is being replaced.
After that the conditions are as follows:
- Starting from year 3 onward, Saatva will completely repair and recover your Saatva mattress. You will be charged a processing fee of $149 for the repair.
- Saatva warranties remain valid if an adjustable base-compatible mattress is used on an adjustable base.
- For a full or twin-sized mattress, the warranty will be valid with the use of a 4 legged metal frame.
- The Saatva mattress warranty is only valid to the original purchaser. Please keep all the receipts.
- Certain body impressions develop naturally over time with normal wear. These impressions may show up as the mattress adjusts to a person’s body weight and sleep positions. Body impressions bigger than 1.5 inches are covered by the warranty.
All of these terms and conditions apply to every Saatva mattress model except the Solaire mattress which has slightly different terms and conditions:
- At anytime during the 5 year period from delivery date, the mattress will be professionally repaired at absolutely no cost to you.
- From years 6 to 10 you shall be responsible for 50% of the cost of parts and processing while Saatva covers 100% of the labor costs.
- From years 11 to 15 you shall be responsible for 75% of the cost of parts and processing while Saatva covers 100% of the labor costs.
- From years 16 to 20 you shall be responsible for 85% of the cost of parts and processing as well as 100% of labor and processing costs.
- From years 21 to as long as you own the mattress you shall be responsible for 90% of the cost of parts and 100% of labor and processing costs.
- Saatva offers the same Fairness Replacement option for their Solaire mattress as with their other mattress. The same terms and conditions apply as outlined below.
Exclusions
As with most mattress warranties, the Saatva mattress warranty is considered void if:
- The bed foundation is not supported by a 5 or 6 legged standard bed frame for the Queen and larger sizes. The bed frames must also feature center support.
- If the mattress has been tampered with, burned, stained or damaged through improper use.
- If the mattress has been used for commercial purposes and not personal use.
- If the mattress is being used by another person and not the original purchaser.
- If the body impressions are less than 1.5 inches.
Replacement terms
Saatva also offers what they call a ‘Fairness Replacement option’ which is an option Saatva offers for customers who would prefer to have their mattresses replaced instead of repaired when they are past the year 2 point. If this option is chosen, the customer keeps the original mattress for personal use.
- The Fairness Replacement conditions are (instead of Saatva repairing your mattress):
- From years 3 to 5, Saatva will deliver and set up a new Saatva mattress for 40% of the original price that you paid.
- From years 6 to 10, Saatva will send a replacement mattress for 60% of the original price that you paid.
- From years 11 to 15, Saatva will send a replacement mattress for 80% of the original price that you paid.
- A $99 processing fee is applicable for all mattress replacements under the Fairness Replacement option.
- The Fairness Replacement option can only be used once per customer.
- The replacement mattress must be the same exact Saatva mattress model, size and firmness level as the original mattress purchased.
- The replacement mattress does not come with a 365 sleep trial. It is considered as final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
- The warranty will remain valid if the mattress is used on a platform bed frame with either a flat, solid surface or slats that are spaced no more than 4″ apart with a center support for a Queen and larger sizes.
- Saatva highly recommends using an additional layer of solid surface such as plywood, bunkie board or a masonite board) on top of platform bed slats to add durability and longevity to the Saatva HD mattress which is one of their mattress models aimed at heavier-set sleepers.
- Saatva requires the use of an additional layer of solid surface such as plywood and masonite board on top of platform bed slats to add durability and longevity to the Zenhaven mattress, which is a 2-sided mattress.
