It’s not everyday you get a high-end hotel quality sleeping experience but with the WinkBed mattress, you can.

The WinkBed mattress is also great for those who suffer from back pain and chronic body pain such as fibromyalgia but you need to take your preferred sleeping position and body weight into consideration when choosing a WinkBed firmness level (for example: average weight sleepers do best with the WinkBed Luxury Firm mattress).

Made from a blend of Tencel, gel-infused foam and (unlike the all-foam GravityLux) individually wrapped coils, the WinkBed mattress is a Euro pillow top mattress that offers the same pressure-relieving comfort as traditional memory foam as well the same responsive support as innerspring mattresses.

Firmness test

Winkbed mattress firmness options

The WinkBed mattress comes in 4 different firmness levels – Soft, Luxury Firm, Firm and Plus.

  • Soft – Sitting at around 4 to 4.5 on the mattress firmness scale, the Soft version has a medium-soft feel that suits strict side sleepers the best.
  • Luxury Firm – A 5-6 on the firmness scale, the Luxury Firm version has a true medium feel and is suitable for all sleeper types of different body types including average weight stomach sleepers.
  • Firm – Good for strict stomach and back sleepers, the Firm version sits on a 7 on the mattress firmness scale giving the mattress a true firm feel.
  • Plus – An 8 on the mattress firmness scale, the Plus version of the WinkBed mattress is designed slightly different. It contains extra layers of foam as well as higher gauge coils and is made specifically for those who weigh well over 300 lbs.

Cooling test

Mattresses with spring coils such as hybrid mattresses are inherently more cooling than all-foam mattresses and the WinkBed mattress is no exception.

Coupled with the gel-infused foam layers as well as the Tencel cover that’s moisture-wicking and cool to the touch, the WinkBed mattress is a luxury hybrid mattress that is suitable for hot sleepers (unlike true memory foam mattresses that tend to trap heat).

When it comes to cooling, we rate the WinkBed mattress a 7 out of 10.

Comfort test

When we say the WinkBed mattress is one of the best mattresses you can buy if you suffer from back pain, we were not kidding.

Euro pillow top mattresses are pretty plush in general. Imagine sleeping on the high quality hotel mattress – that’s what it feels like sleeping on the WinkBed mattress.

The pillow top is blended with gel-infused foam that provides deep pressure relief without the sinkage associated most with a traditional memory foam mattress.

The WinkBed mattress is similar to latex foam mattresses when it comes to responsiveness.

Winkbed comfort test
Winkbeds comfort performance test…our verdict? 8/10

Bear in mind that the softer you go, the softer the WinkBed mattress would feel the heavier your weight is so take that into consideration when you’re choosing a firmness level with the WinkBed mattress.

If you’re worried that the WinkBed mattress is going to be too soft to help with proper spinal alignment, don’t worry. The pocketed coils offer enough zoned support the higher the firmness level gets.

We rate the WinkBed mattress an 8 out of 10 for comfort.

Motion transfer test

Most bed in a box mattress brands these days take the time to ensure that the mattresses they offer have good motion isolating properties.

So we already expected the WinkBed mattress to already have low motion transfer and it did not disappoint.

We also put the Winkbed through a rigorous motion transfer test…

Depending on the WinkBed mattress firmness, the firmer you go you get lesser motion transfer but that’s not to say that the softer firmness options are bed.

For reference, the Luxury Firm WinkBed performed pretty well in lessening any cross mattress movement when we tried the bed out with a partner.

When it comes to motion isolation, we rate the WinkBeds mattress a 7 out of 10.

Edge support test

While most people would think edge support to be low on the totem pole when it comes to how a mattress performs, those who prefer sleeping close to the edge of the bed would beg to differ.

Here’s what the edge support looks like

Most pillow top luxury mattresses would have edge support stop right where the pillow top begins but not the WinkBed mattress.

We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the WinkBed luxury mattress has pretty solid edge support thanks to its Extra Edge Support system that we rated it an 8 out of 10.

Pressure relief test

In line with our comfort test, it’s safe to say that the WinkBed mattress performed very well when it comes to pressure relief.

Again, due to its plush Euro pillow top and gel foam layers, the WinkBed mattress offers more than substantial pressure relief and helps keep pressure off the main pressure points making it a good mattress for (once again) those who suffer from back or chronic and joint pain.

We rate the WinkBed mattress an 8 out of 10 for pressure relief.

Construction

For all its rather impressive features, the WinkBed mattress actually has a very simple construction.

For firmness options Soft to Firm, the WinkBed mattress only has 3 layers. The Plus firmness option features 4.

This just goes to show that the old adage of quality over quantity still rings true.

Winkbeds mattresses are all made in the USA

For the first 3 options, the WinkBed mattress consists of a plush pillow top, gel-infused foam comfort layer and a pocketed coil unit.

All these layers come encased in a mattress cover that’s made from Tencel that’s soft, breathable and moisture-wicking.

The Plus option features the same internal layers as the first 3 firmness options but comes with the addition of a zoned latex foam layer and a high density foam base layer for that added extra support. It also comes encased in the same Tencel cover.

Durability

The WinkBed mattress is a durable mattress especially when cared for and used correctly.

Backed by a DuraTech Lifetime Durability System, the WinkBed mattress is made up of premium, high quality materials such as triple tempered steel and high density comfort foams that can stand the test of time.

That said, any new mattress can wear down and break down pretty quickly if used incorrectly so make sure to practice proper care and maintenance for your WinkBed mattress such as rotating your mattress every 3 months or so.

Similar mattresses to consider

If you’re not completely sold on the WinkBed mattress, you might want to consider the following mattresses.

WinkBeds EcoCloud

Winkbeds EcoCloud back sleeper test

Want the same features as the WinkBed mattress but prefer latex foam instead of gel-infused foam? The the WinkBeds EcoCloud mattress is the one for you.

Featuring the same tempered steel coil unit and extra-edge support system as the WinkBed mattress, the WinkBeds EcoCloud mattress features layers of 100% all-natural latex foam that’s cooling and hypoallergenic, making it a good choice for both hot sleepers and those who suffer from seasonal allergies.

One glaring difference between the base model WinkBed mattress and the EcoCloud is that it only comes in one firmness level which is a medium.

Still, this is suitable for most sleeper types and sleeping positions except for heavier-set stomach sleepers.

Bear Elite Hybrid

Here’s another luxury mattress option for you.

Just like the WinkBed mattress, the Bear Elite Hybrid mattress offers good pressure relief as well as zoned support. It comes in 3 firmness options and is suitable for all sleeper types and sleeping positions.

One feature that differentiates the Bear Elite Hybrid from the WinkBed mattress is that it features active cooling properties such as a Celliant cover as well as PCM (phase change material).

Nolah Evolution 15

Nolah Evolution 15

If you want something thicker than the WinkBed mattress, check out the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress.

Featuring the same quilted pillow top as the WinkBed mattress, the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress offers both pressure relief and targeted support as well as active cooling technology.

The thing is, if you’re someone with limited mobility, the Nolah Evolution 15 might just be a little too high for you to get in and out of bed, especially if you pare it with a high profile bed frame.
