How the Purple Mattress Return Policy works

Purple mattresses have a 100 day sleep trial period which starts from the day you receive your Purple mattress. You can return or exchange any Purple mattress within that time period.

Purple, like many other online mattress brands out there, requires a break-in period to allow your body to adjust to the mattress. Most brands require a minimum of 30 days whereas Purple has a shorter break-in period which is 21 days.

Once you hit the 21 day mark and you decide that the fiberglass-free Purple mattress is not the right mattress for you (read our Purple mattress review before buying to make sure), you can request to initiate a return process by contacting Purple’s customer care team.

But before you are able to return a Purple mattress you need to make sure that the mattress is fit to be returned or else Purple will not accept it.


Purple mattress return request initiation

This means that the mattress must be clean, free from stains and tears and must have the mattress law tag attached and intact.

Bear in mind that Purple will require photos of the mattress and the law tag before they accept your return request.

Once your return request has been accepted and processed, Purple or one of their authorized partners will arrange a mattress pick-up at a time that’s convenient for you.

You will then receive a full refund (minus the shipping charges and any discounts at the time of purchase) on the original mode of payment that you used when you purchased the mattress once the return or disposal receipt has been confirmed.

Terms and conditions

As with any other mattress return policy, there are terms and conditions that must be met before you are able to initiate a Purple mattress return.

  • Mattress must be clean, undamaged and must have the mattress law tag attached and intact.
  • You must have the original purchase receipt.
  • Only one Purple mattress per household can be returned at a time. This means if you have a second mattress, you may need to wait to return it if you also don’t like it.
  • For mattresses purchased in-store at a Purple showroom or any other retail location (such as Mattress Firm), contact the store directly.
  • You do not need the original packaging or the mattress’ original form to return the Purple mattress.
  • A minimum of 21 days is required for the break-in period before returning a new mattress.

You can initiate the return process by contacting Purple’s customer service via phone at 888-848-2305.

Before making the call, make sure to have photos and the original purchase receipt on hand.

Return timeframe

The return timeframe for Purple mattresses is 100 days.

At any time within this period but not before the 21 day break-in period, you can initiate a return request. The same timeframe applies to mattress exchanges.

Bear in mind that going beyond the 100 day trial period even just for one day will result in your return request being rejected.

When do you receive your refund

You will receive your refund once the returned mattress has been confirmed received by Purple mattress.

You will get a full refund minus the shipping charges as well as any discounts or accrued interests gained from and on the date of mattress purchase.

The refund will be returned to the original mode of payment you used when you purchased the mattress. Depending on your bank, the refund amount will be credited to your account within a week.

Return fees

Purple does not charge any return fees for their returned mattresses except for shipping charges and any discounts applied at the time of mattress purchase.

Exclusions

As with any other online mattress brand’s return policy, the Purple mattress return policy has some exclusions.

  • Mattresses that are stained or damaged will not be accepted for returns.
  • Mattresses that are missing a mattress law tag will not be accepted for returns, no matter how new the mattress may look.
  • Refunds will only be credited to the original mattress purchaser.
  • Refund requests sent beyond the 100 day trial period will not be honored.

Purple Mattress trial period length

All Purple mattresses have a 100 day sleep trial period wherein they can try out a mattress to see if it’s the best fit for their needs and preferences.

All mattress returns and exchanges can only be done within the given trial period. Not a day over.


Purple Mattress warranty length

Each Purple mattress comes with a 10 year warranty.

During this 10 year period, you can have the mattress replaced or repaired should you find any factory and/or manufacturing defects.

The Purple mattress warranty also covers any premature mattress sag that is not caused by improper use of the mattress.

However, the warranty does not include the mattress cover which has its own much shorter warranty (2 years).


Can you exchange a Purple mattress?

You can definitely have a Purple mattress exchanged. This falls in line with the Purple mattress return policy – the same rules apply. 

You can only have a Purple mattress exchanged within the 100 day trial period.
