Everyone wants a mattress that can last for a very long time but let’s face it – not many mattresses do, no matter how much you care for them. But there are long-lasting mattresses to be had, you just have to know where to look. You don’t have to look any further than this list though because we’ve got it all covered. Our editor’s choice is the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress.
Top 10 Most Durable Mattresses
#1. Helix Midnight Luxe
Why it’s the overall best
Thick and dense, the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress is one hefty mattress that’s built to last for years.
Made from a blend of copper gel-infused memory foam, proprietary foams and up to a thousand individually wrapped coils, the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress is an innerspring mattress and a foam mattress all rolled into one.
We like the fact that the memory foam comfort layer in the Helix Midnight Luxe offers superior pressure relief and that the copper infusion helps do away with that dreaded heat retention that traditional memory foam is pretty infamous for.
We also like the fact that unlike most memory foam mattresses, the Helix Midnight Luxe’s coil unit offers zoned support that makes absolutely no room for any of that stuck in the mud feel.
We go into more details about the mattress in our full Helix Midnight Luxe review, but for now I’ll go into an overview of what we found when testing it out.

Helix Midnight Luxe performance
Sitting on a 6.5 on the mattress firmness scale, the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress feels like a medium to a medium-firm. This makes it suitable for all sleeping positions from strict side sleepers to back and stomach sleepers.
Those who sleep predominantly on their sides in particular would appreciate the Helix Midnight Luxe’s plush pillow top surface as it helps keep pressure off their main pressure points.
On the same vein, the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress may not be able to provide enough support for those who weigh over 250 lbs. due to its soft comfort layers. We suggest opting for a firmer mattress instead.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress a 9.7 out of 10 when it comes to pressure relief.
The plush pillow top surface offers maximum pressure relief no matter the sleeping position. That plus the memory foam layers work together to provide both cushioning and contouring typical of memory foam mattresses but without any of that stuck in the mud feel.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress a 9.4 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
Although the Helix Midnight Luxe does not really contain any active cooling materials, it does contain a moisture-wicking mattress cover as well as copper gel-infused memory foam which helps do away with heat retention. You also have the option to choose between either a Tencel cover or Helix’s own GlacioTex cover.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 9.4 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
The memory foam layers did a pretty good job at deadening any cross-mattress movement when we tried the mattress out with a partner. This makes the Helix Midnight Luxe a good choice for those who share a bed.
When it comes to edge support, we rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 9.5 out of 10.
The coil unit features reinforced edges that help provide enhanced edge support to the mattress. You won’t be in any danger of rolling off the bed if you’re the type of sleeper who likes to sleep close to the edge.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress a 9.5 out of 10 for overall performance.

Alternative pick: Helix Dawn Luxe
If you prefer something similar to the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress but firmer, you might want to check out the Helix Dawn Luxe mattress.
Made with the same components as the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress down to the coil unit, the only difference the comfort foam layers are firmer sitting on a 7 on the mattress firmness scale. This males the Helix Dawn Luxe mattress an ideal mattress for stomach and back sleepers.
#2. Bear Natural
Why it’s one of the best
All-natural and organic – two marketing keywords that can guarantee immediate demand but not all organic products are vegan, especially when it comes to mattresses.
Enter the Bear Natural mattress.
Made from 100% pure Talalay latex, certified organic and individually encased coils, the Bear Natural mattress offers responsive support while being safe and suitable for those who live a vegan lifestyle.
Talalay latex is also the most durable type of latex foam there is and latex foam mattresses, in general, last the longest out of all the mattress types making the Bear Natural mattress one of the most durable mattresses that’s suitable for those who live a more organic and sustainable lifestyle.

Bear Natural performance
The Bear Natural mattress sits on a 6 on the mattress firmness scale making it a medium-firm mattress that’s suitable for all sleeping positions including strict side sleepers.
Being a hybrid mattress, the Bear Natural mattress can accommodate those that are heavier-set by providing them with the extra support that they would need.
We rate the Bear Natural mattress a 9.3 when it comes to pressure relief.
Natural latex is already pretty responsive in and of itself so don’t expect a contouring feel like that of a memory foam mattress.
That does not mean though that you won’t get enough pressure relief – in fact, the Bear Natural mattress offers ample pressure relief that you won’t feel any pressure at all along your main pressure points which we experienced when we tried the mattress out.
We rate the Bear Natural mattress a 9.8 when it comes to cooling.
Pure latex is naturally cooling and when combined with the pocketed coil unit in the Bear Natural mattress makes for mattress that’s breathable and not heat-retentive. This makes the Bear Natural mattress a good choice for those that tend to sleep hot.
We rate the Bear Natural mattress an 8.7 when it comes to motion isolation.
Not the best but also not the worst. We did not experience a lot of motion transfer on the Bear Natural mattress but we did feel some movement when tried out the mattress with someone much heavier. It’s best to keep this in mind if you share a bed with a partner who weighs significantly more than you do.
We rate the Bear Natural mattress a 9.8 when it comes to edge support.
The Bear Natural mattress features reinforced edge coils that provides enhanced edge support all along the perimeter of the mattress. We never felt like we were in any danger of rolling off the bed no matter how close to the edge we were lying.
We rate the Bear Natural mattress a 9.4 when it comes to overall performance.

Alternative pick: Bear Star Hybrid
If you want something a bit more cushioning and pressure relieving, check out the Bear Star Hybrid mattress.
It combines the contouring comfort of a memory foam mattress with the responsive support of a traditional innerspring mattress. Like Bear’s most popular mattress, the Bear Elite Hybrid, the Bear Star Hybrid’s mattress cover is made up of a combination of Celliant and phase change material which can help with sleep recovery.
#3. Naturepedic EOS Classic
Why it’s one of the best
Not a lot of latex hybrid mattresses can get that same plush and contouring feel of traditional memory foam mattresses but the Naturepedic EOS Classic does.
What we like most about the Naturepedic EOS Classic – aside from how it feels like a Tempur-Pedic bed – is that you can customize the mattress’ firmness level to your liking. You want a softer mattress, you got it, you want a firmer mattress, you got it as well as everything else in between.
As we’ve mentioned about the other latex mattress on this list, latex mattresses tend to last longer than any other mattress type making the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress a mattress that can last you a very long time.
Specs at a glance
Thickness levels | 12 inches |
Firmness levels | Customizable |
Materials | Organic cotton cover, organic wool batting, PLA fiber, organic latex, glue-less fabric encased coils |

Naturepedic EOS Classic performance
One cool thing we liked about the Naturepedic EOS Classic is that you can customize the firmness levels can be customized from plush-soft to extra-firm.
You do this by swapping the layers out and rearranging them by placing the firmer layers on top if you want a firm mattress or the softer layers on top if you want a soft mattress.
Back and stomach sleepers benefit the most from choosing the firmer option whereas side and combination sleepers will get more pressure relief if they choose the softer option.
If you choose the Queen sizes and up, you also get to choose different firmness options for either side making the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress an excellent choice for couples with different sleeping position preferences.
Before I go into the summary of our performance test results, I want to remind you that we have a full in-depth Naturepedic EOS mattress review live that you should definitely take a look at if you’re considering this brand.
It covers literally everything you need to know.
When it comes to pressure relief, we rate the Naturepedic EOS Classic a 9.5.
For a latex mattress it feels, we kid you not, like a Tempur-pedic bed. Contouring and pressure-relieving just like traditional memory foam but without any of the sinkage or heat retention which brings us to our next rating.
We rate the Naturepedic EOS Classic a 9.5 when it comes to cooling.
Pure latex is naturally cooling and hypoallergenic so it should come as no surprise that the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress scored high on the cooling front. The latex foam layers on the Naturepedic mattress are also perforated allowing for greater air flow all throughout the mattress.
We rate the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress an 8.7 for motion isolation.
Depending on the mattress firmness that you choose, the amount of motion transfer varies on the Naturepedic EOS Classic. The softer the mattress, the more you’ll feel movement and the firmer the mattress, the less movement you’ll experience. But again, this only applies to mattress sizes below the Queen size.
We rate the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress a 6 out of 10 for edge support.
The Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress does NOT feature enhanced edges. The mattress cover doesn’t have reinforced seams either, which gives the Naturepedic EOS Classic very poor edge support. If you’re the type of sleeper who likes to lay close to the edge of the mattress, you should opt for a mattress with better edge support.
Overall, we rate the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress an 8.4 out of 10.
Factor | Performance |
---|---|
Firmness | Customizable |
Cooling | 9.3 |
Pressure relief | 9.5 |
Motion transfer | 8.7 |
Edge support | 9.7 |
Mattress thickness (inches) | 12 |

Warranty (years) | 25 |
Alternative pick: Naturepedic EOS Trilux
If you prefer an all-foam version of the EOS Classic, you might want to check out the Naturepedic EOS Trilux.
It contains the same latex foam layers, organic wool layer and organic cotton cover as the Naturepedic EOS Classic. The only difference is that the EOS Trilux doesn’t feature a coil unit. It still feels pretty responsive, although slightly more contouring than the EOS Classic.
#4. The WinkBed
Why it’s one of the best
The WinkBed mattress combines a quilted Euro pillow top along with pressure relieving proprietary memory foam layers that provide exceptional pressure relief that’s suitable for all sleeping positions and body types as well as those who suffer from back pain.
Right now I’ll give you a quick overview of how it did in the different performance tests we conducted, but if you want more details definitely take a look at our full Winkbed review.

WinkBed performance
The WinkBed mattress comes in 4 different firmness options to choose from: Soft, Luxury Firm, Firmer and Plus.
Both the Soft and Luxury Firm versions are suitable for side sleepers and combination sleepers while the Firmer version is best for strict stomach and back sleepers.
The Plus version of the WinkBed mattress is made specifically for heavier-set individuals as it offers extra support without compromising any of the mattress’ pressure relieving properties.
We rate the WinkBed mattress a 9.8 for pressure relief.
As we’ve mentioned, the combination of the plush Euro Pillow top and the memory foam layers in the WinkBed mattress provide supreme pressure relief that helps keep any pressure off the main pressure points no matter the body weight.
When it comes to cooling, we rate the WinkBed mattress a 9.1.
Although the WinkBed mattress does not contain any active cooling materials, the proprietary gel memory foam and the WinkBed’s coil unit still did a pretty good job of not trapping any body heat making the WinkBed mattress a good choice for those who tend to sleep hot.
We rate the WinkBed mattress a 9.5 when it comes to motion isolation.
We barely felt any cross mattress movement when we tried the WinkBed mattress out with a partner making it an excellent choice for those who share a bed with a partner.
Edge support is another area where the WinkBed mattress excels which is why we rate it a 9.7.
The WinkBed mattress provided us with sturdy edge support all throughout the entire mattress mostly due to its Extra Edge Support system. You definitely won’t be in any danger of rolling off the bed no matter how close to the edge you may lie.
We give the WinkBed mattress a 9.6 for overall performance.
Factor | Performance |

Alternative pick: WinkBeds Eco Cloud
If you prefer latex instead of the OG WinkBed’s gel foam, you might want to check out WinkBeds’ Eco Cloud mattress.
More responsive than the WinkBed mattress, the WinkBeds Eco Cloud features Talalay latex as its main comfort layer and while the Eco Cloud mattress is still pressure relieving, it’s not as plush and contouring as the original WinkBed mattress.
#5. Saatva HD
Why it’s one of the best
Made specifically for heavier than average individuals, the Saatva HD is built like a tank – so much so that it actually won’t work with regular foundations or box springs (which is a bit of a con but hear us out).
There are 7 layers to the Saatva HD mattress and all these layers work together to provide a supportive and comfortable sleeping experience that can help with pain and pressure relief.
The Saatva HD mattress combines all the benefits of memory foam, latex and an innerspring coil unit – it’s like Saatva used every material they could that can get you the best sleep of your life.
And for a mattress that’s built like a tank, you can certainly expect it to be as durable as one.

Saatva HD performance
The Saatva HD sits around a 6-7 on the mattress firmness scale, making it a firm mattress.
You have to understand though that mattress firmness is pretty subjective especially when body weight is involved.
The heavier the person is, the softer a mattress feels and vice versa.
Heavier-set sleepers need something firmer because they need the extra support. That’s not to say that average weight sleepers can’t sleep on the Saatva HD mattress – it’s actually suitable for strict back and stomach sleepers as well.
We rate the Saatva HD a 9.4 when it comes to pressure relief.
The Saatva HD mattress combines contouring memory foam with responsive latex foam – both of which provides superior pressure relief. The latex foam layer of the Saatva HD mattress also helps prevent that stuck in the mud feel that’s mostly associated with traditional memory foam.
We rate the Saatva HD a 9.6 when it comes to cooling.
Pure latex is naturally cooling while the breathable organic cotton cover helps wick away both heat and moisture and the Saatva HD’s coil unit allows air to circulate continuously all throughout the entire mattress making it the perfect choice for hot sleepers.
We rate the Saava HD a 9.8 when it comes to motion isolation.
We barely felt any movement when we tried the Saatva HD mattress out with a partner making the Saatva HD mattress perfect for couples or for those who share a bed with a pet.
When it comes to edge support, we rate the Saatva HD a 9.7.
6-inch high density foam rails surround the perimeter of the Saatva HD mattress providing fortified edge support that won’t allow you to roll off or slide off the edge of the mattress.
Overall, we rate the Saatva HD mattress a 9.6 out of 10 for performance.

Alternative pick: Saatva Classic

The Saatva Classic mattress combines the classic responsive innerspring feel with the contouring comfort of memory foam and not only that, it also features a plush Euro pillow top layer for extra plushness.
Unlike the Saatva HD, the Saatva Classic mattress comes in three firmness options and you also get to choose between different height profiles.
#6. Nolah Evolution 15
Why it’s one of the best
Back pain is something everyone suffers from at some point in their lives.
For some of us, it can even be chronic and be something we have to live with forever, but based on the data we received from our performance tests, the Nolah Evolution 15 can help ease the pain and even give you a good night’s sleep.
Made up of a blend of proprietary memory foam alternatives and a tri-zone coil unit that targets specific problem areas, the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress helps alleviate back pain not just in the lumbar region but all over the back.
We ran the mattress through a series of rigorous performance tests (read more about them in our Nolah Evolution 15 review article).

Nolah Evolution 15 performance
You get to choose between 3 different firmness options with the Nolah Evolution 15 – Plush, Luxury Firm and Firm.
The Plush model sits on a 3 on the mattress firmness scale and is best for those who prefer sleeping strictly on their sides.
The Luxury Firm version sits on a 5 which is like a happy medium (pun intended) and is suitable for all sleeper types. Back and stomach sleepers would do well with choosing the Firm version which is around an 8 on the scale.
Being a hybrid mattress, the Nolah Evolution is also suitable for those who are heavier-set.
When it comes to pressure relief, we rate the Nolah Evolution 15 a 9.7.
The mattress’ plush Euro pillow top layer along with the memory foam comfort layers help keep all the pressure off the main pressure points, including the shoulders and hips.
When it comes to cooling, we rate the Nolah Evolution 15 a 9.3.
Although the memory foam layers are made with Nolah’s very own cooling tech, we did experience a little bit of heat retention but not too much that we slept uncomfortably.
When it comes to motion isolation, we rate the Nolah Evolution 15 a 9.6.
Memory foam, in general, absorb motion very well and the memory foam in the Nolah Evolution 15 is no different. We felt very little motion transfer when we tried the mattress out with a partner.
When it comes to edge support, we rate the Nolah Evolution 15 a 9.5.
Thicker perimeter coils line the entire mattress which helps provide good edge support.
Overall, we rate the Nolah Evolution a 9.5 out of 10 for performance.

Alternative pick: Nolah Evolution Comfort+
Think of the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ mattress as the Nolah Evolution 15’s souped up sister.
With a weight capacity of up to 1000 lbs of combined weight, the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ can accommodate heavier-set individuals. Featuring the same proprietary foams and cooling tech, the Evolution Comfort+ mattress also measured 15 inches in thickness.
#7. Puffy Royal
Why it’s one of the best
Side sleepers make up the majority when it comes to preferred sleeping positions but most of the time mattresses are just a bit too firm their shoulders and hips (side sleepers’ main pressure points) to handle.
Not the Puffy Royal mattress.
Made with layers of pressure relieving proprietary foam, the Puffy Royal mattress also features Cloud Sculting Technology foam that targets all 5 zones of the body for the ultimate pressure relief.
The Puffy Royal mattress features a Firm Core support foam that helps promote longevity and durability while also keeping all the top layers in place.
Now I’m going to go into an overview about how the mattress rates in different performance categories. If you want even more details make sure you read our full Puffy Royal review.

Puffy Royal performance
The Puffy Royal mattress sits on a 5-6 on the mattress firmness scale. It has medium firm feel that’s suitable for all sleeper types including strict side sleepers.
Being a hybrid mattress, the Puffy Royal mattress is also suitable for heavier individuals although those who sleep mostly on their stomachs and backs might find the plush, contouring foam to be a little too soft to provide them with the lumbar and spinal support that they would need.
When it comes to pressure relief, we rate the Puffy Royal a 9.8.
Of course it gets a high score.
Why should it not?
The layers upon layers of pressure relieving proprietary foam has made sure of that. We felt as though we were sleeping on a cloud when we tried the Puffy Royal mattress out.
When it comes to cooling, we rate the Puffy Royal a 9.5.
The Puffy Royal mattress features cooling gel infused foam as well climate comfort foam and a cooling cover that ensures no heat is retained within the mattress.
We rate the Puffy Royal a 9.7 when it comes to motion isolation.
The multiple layers of foam in the Puffy Royal mattress acted as a shock absorber for any movement on the mattress surface making the Puffy Royal a good choice for those who share a bed.
We rate the Puffy Royal a 9.2 when it comes to edge support.
This is where the Puffy Royal sadly falls a little short.
Unlike most hybrid mattresses, the Puffy Royal mattress doesn’t feature reinforced edge coils and I experienced a significant amount of sinkage when I laid close to the edge of the bed.
Overall, we rate the Puffy Royal mattress a 9.5 for performance.
Factor | Performance |

They say where you sleep is one thing you should never skimp on but in today’s economy that’s easier said than done.
But the Emma Hybrid Comfort mattress makes it easier to stick to your budget. It’s by far one of our favorite inexpensive mattresses out there.
I’m going to give an overview of the data from our performance tests below, but if you want more detail definitely read our Emma Hybrid Comfort mattress review (it covers literally everything you need to know).

Emma Hybrid Comfort performance
The Emma Hybrid Comfort mattress sits at a 6.5 on the mattress firmness scale which makes it a medium-firm.
Suitable for all sleeper types including strict stomach sleepers, the Emma Hybrid Comfort mattress might feel a bit too firm for lightweight sleepers who prefer to sleep on their sides.
We rate the Emma Hybrid Comfort a 9.6 when it comes to pressure relief.
The proprietary comfort foam layers of the Emma Hybrid Comfort mimics the contouring feel of traditional memory foam but without any of the dreaded sinkage making a good choice for those who like the contouring feel of a traditional memory foam mattress but without tht stuck in the mud feel.
We rate the Emma Hybrid Comfort a 9 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
The coil unit did a pretty good job of promoting air circulation all throughout the entire mattress, doing away with any retained heat.
We rate the Emma Hybrid Comfort a 9.7 when it comes to motion isolation.
We experienced little to no motion transfer when we tried the mattress out with a partner. The combination of individually pocketed coils and proprietary foam basically mopped up any movement.
We rate the Emma Hybrid Comfort an 8.8 when it comes to edge support.
If there’s one thing the Emma Hybrid Comfort lacks, it’s reinforced perimeter support. Do NOT attempt to sleep close to the edge of the bed (especially if you’re heavier-set) unless you want to wake up on the floor.
Overall, we rate the Emma Hybrid Comfort mattress a 9.4 for performance.

Alternative pick: Emma Original
If you prefer an all-foam mattress that’s also very affordable, check out the Emma Original mattress.
Made with high-quality proprietary foam layers, the Emma Original offers deep contouring comfort akin to that of a true memory foam mattress. Bear in mind that you will feel a tiny amount of sinkage on the Emma Original mattress unlike the more responsive feel of the Emma Hybrid Comfort.
#9. Eco Terra Hybrid Latex Mattress
Why it’s one of the best
Let’s face it, a lot of consumer products including mattresses are not exactly made with eco-friendly raw materials (despite their claims).
The Eco Terra Hybrid Latex mattress on the other hand is made up of sustainably sourced organic latex, organic wool, organic cotton and recycled steel making it one of the most eco-friendly and durable mattresses you can buy.
If this sounds like the mattress for you, definitely read our full Eco Terra review BEFORE making your decision. We cover literally everything you need to know about the mattress.
Without further ado, let’s go into what we learned from our performance tests.

Eco Terra Hybrid Latex Mattress performance
The Eco Terra Hybrid Latex mattress comes in two different firmness options – a Medium and a Medium-Firm.
This makes the mattress suitable for all sleeper types including those who sleep strictly on their backs.
Being a hybrid mattress, the Eco Terra Hybrid Latex mattress can provide enough support for those who are heavier-set while also offering good pressure relief.
We rate the Eco Terra Hybrid Latex mattress a 9.3 for pressure relief.
Although pure latex is known to be naturally responsive and not as contouring as true memory foam, the Eco Terra Hybrid Latex mattress still provided us with ample pressure relief no matter what sleeping position we chose.
We rate the Eco Terra Hybrid Latex a 9.1 when it comes to cooling.
The lack of active cooling materials might have knocked off a couple of points for the Eco Terra Hybrid Latex mattress but natural latex is cooling enough so you won’t have any problems with heat retention.
We rate the Eco Terra Hybrid Latex an 8.8 when it comes to motion isolation.
The innate responsiveness of natural latex coupled with the thick layer of spring coils in the Eco Terra Hybrid Latex mattress had us experiencing a moderate amount of motion transfer when we tried the mattress out with a partner. Expect to feel some movement, especially if you share a bed with a partner who’s slightly heavier than you are.
When it comes to edge support, we rate the Eco Terra Hybrid Latex mattress a 9.5.
The thicker spring coil unit of the mattress offered a lot in terms of edge support even without any reinforced perimeter coils. You won’t be in any danger of rolling off the bed if you’re the type of sleeper who sleeps close to the edge of the bed.
Overall, we rate the Eco Terra Hybrid Latex mattress a 9.3 out of 10 for performance.

We picked the mattresses on this list for their longevity and durability which are crucial when you want a mattress that can last you a very long time.

We also put all these mattresses through performance tests and see how they perform in areas such as pressure relief, cooling, motion isolation and edge support.
- Pressure relief – Everyone has pressure points. And they hurt (and may even cause problems in the long run) if you sleep on surfaces that do not correspond to your preferred sleeping position. Choosing the right mattress for your sleeping position is imperative when it comes to achieving good pressure relief.
- Firmness – Going in hand with pressure relief, choosing the right mattress firmness is key when it comes to getting it. The rule of thumb is, choose a firmer mattress if you are a back or stomach sleeper and choose a softer mattress if you are a side or combination sleeper.
- Cooling – Most mattresses nowadays come equipped with active cooling materials or technology that aids in keeping heat at bay or doing away with it completely. Heat is the number one cause of sleeplessness amongst the majority of sleepers.
- Motion isolation – Motion transfer is a big no-no especially if you share a bed with a partner. We specifically chose the mattresses on this list that provide good motion isolation.
- Edge support – Some may think that edge support is not at all important when it comes to choosing a mattress but it can help you maximize the surface area of a mattress especially if you are a restless sleeper or someone who likes to sleep close to the edge of a bed.
- Materials – As with all consumer products, ones that are made with poor quality materials tend to deteriorate faster than those ones that are made with premium quality materials. We’ve chosen mattresses that are made with the best raw materials as well as proprietary technology.
