Everyone loves a good deal – I know I do – and while there’s a lot of pretty affordable mattresses on the market, you’d be hard-pressed to find one that actually delivers on its promises. The Egohome Black is an all-foam mattress that claims to provide pressure relief and support just like the more expensive brands, but is that really the case? Read on to find out.

Our experience with Egohome Black Mattress
For a mattress at this price point, I wasn’t really expecting much (in fact, I was expecting to be pretty much disappointed) but I’m happy to report that I was wrong to make that assumption.
Just because a mattress has a low price point doesn’t automatically mean that it can’t be good.
The Egohome Black not only looks sleek and classy with its all-black cover but it also offers the same contouring and compression I’ve come to expect with higher-end all-foam mattresses.
What’s more is that even with its deep compressing properties, you don’t get that ‘stuck in the mud’ feel that you usually get with memory foam mattresses, which is a definite plus for those who prefer a more responsive bed.
Here’s the best part: the motion isolation on the Egohome Black mattress is second to none.
That’s right. If you share a bed with a partner, expect nothing but a long, good night’s rest because you literally won’t feel any movement (I know. I, too, was surprised).
But of course, you should also know that for a mattress with a (VERY) affordable price point, you must also manage your expectations and in the case of the Egohome Black the downsides are its edge support and cooling capabilities.
Firmness
The Egohome Black comes in two firmness options: a medium and a firm.
While in most cases medium is great for all sleeper types and firm is best for back and stomach sleepers, with the Egohome Black, the story is slightly different.
The medium version feels more like a medium-soft to me which is around a 4.5 on the mattress firmness scale. Mattresses with a medium-soft feel are best for strict side sleepers who need pressure point relief on their shoulders and hips so if you’re a back or stomach sleeper, don’t be misled by the Egohome Black’s supposedly medium feel – get the firm version instead.
I also do not recommend the Egohome Black mattress for back and stomach sleepers who weigh heavier than average as it won’t provide you with the extra support you need.
Cooling Test
We rate the Egohome Black a 6.5 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
The Egohome Black mattress is not made out of traditional memory foam.
The proprietary foam layers are infused with copper and cooling gel, but I still found it to sleep somewhat hot so I do not recommend it if you typically overheat while sleeping.
Motion Transfer Test
We rate the Egohome Black a 10 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
It’s no secret that all-foam mattresses perform amazingly well when it comes to motion isolation.
The Egohome Black mattress is no exception.
I experienced literally ZERO motion transfer when I tried it out with a partner, making the Egohome Black a great choice for couples.
Edge Support Test
We rate the Egohome Black a 6 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
I guess I really shouldn’t be surprised that the Egohome Black mattress has poor edge support due to its lack of reinforced edges as well as its inherent softness, so if you’re someone who likes to sleep close to the edge of the bed you WILL roll off.
Guaranteed.
Pressure Relief/Comfort Test
We rate the Egohome Black an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to pressure relief and comfort.
If you are someone who sleeps mostly on your sides then you will find that you get more than enough pressure relief on your main pressure points.
While the same holds true if you are a back or stomach sleeper, the Egohome Black’s soft feel will work against you in the form of throwing off your spinal alignment, which can be problematic in the long run.
I do think the Egohome Black is a decent mattress for side sleepers who suffer from chronic pain such as fibromyalgia. Back and stomach sleepers? No so much.
Construction
There are 5 layers to the Egohome Black mattress.
They come encased in a Anti-Heat Graphene cooling mattress cover that’s breathable and cool to the touch.
The first layer is made up of copper gel AeroFusion foam – a proprietary foam that’s infused with copper, which is known to be a good heat conductor. Copper also helps control moisture and reduce odors which helps keep your mattress cool and fresh for longer.
The second layer is made up of another type of proprietary foam called Adaptifoam, which apparently mimics the responsiveness and feel of latex foam.
The third layer is made up of liquid gel CoolFlex foam, which is a memory foam alternative that’s open-celled and infused with cooling gel.
The fourth layer is made up of higher density BraceSleeper support foam that acts as the mattress’ base layer and helps provide support while holding the top layers together.
The last layer is the Egohome Black’s fire-retardant layer that’s fiberglass-free.
We did experience a tiny amount of off-gassing when we first unboxed the mattress but this dissipated within 24 hours.
Durability
Once again, for its price point, I found the Egohome Black mattress to be made with good quality materials that are built to last.
With proper care and maintenance you can definitely get a good number of years out of the Egohome Black mattress.
Sizes
The Egohome Black mattress comes in six standard mattress sizes.
You also get to choose between two different thicknesses – 14 inches and 12 inches.
It is compatible with most bed frames, bases and foundations including an adjustable base.
