Queen is the most common mattress size. Since they’re so common, it’s hard to tell them apart. Which ones are worth buying and which ones are duds? I went through the hard work of testing out all of the leading brands to find out for myself. My overall favorite queen-size mattress is the Bear Elite Hybrid.

Why it’s the best
The Bear Elite Hybrid is an excellent all-around mattress that can accommodate all sleeper types from strict back and stomach sleepers to side sleepers and combination sleepers.
We found it difficult to find fault with the Bear Elite Hybrid as it performs pretty well in all categories that matter the most to you and me – from temperature regulation to extra back support as well as pressure relief.
Hence why this is our number one pick when it comes to queen-sized mattresses since it’s a one size fits all kind of mattress that can cater to just about everyone.

Bear Elite Hybrid Performance
You get to choose between 3 different firmness levels with the Bear Elite Hybrid – soft, medium and firm. The soft version is best for strict side sleepers as well as those who suffer from chronic pain while the medium version can accommodate most sleeper types including those who switch between different sleeping positions. The firm version is best for those who sleep primarily on their backs and stomachs.
Since the Bear Elite Hybrid is, in fact, a hybrid mattress, it can accommodate heavier-set sleepers and provide them with the extra support that they would need.
We rate the Bear Elite Hybrid a 9.8 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
The combination of coils and copper-infused memory foam in the Bear Elite Hybrid work seamlessly together to provide more than enough pressure point relief no matter your preferred sleeping position.
We rate the Bear Elite Hybrid a 9.5 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
Copper has been proven to be a good heat conductor, guiding heat away from the mattress. That plus the pretty substantial coil unit of the Bear Elite Hybrid helps keep heat retention at bay which in turn helps you sleep cool and fresh throughout the night.
We rate the Bear Elite Hybrid a 9.6 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
Even with its pretty thick coil unit, the Bear Elite Hybrid’s foam comfort layers do a good job of absorbing any cross mattress movement. I barely felt any motion transfer when I tried the mattress out with a partner.
We rate the Bear Elite Hybrid a 9.5 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
The Bear Elite Hybrid contains reinforced edge coils that help provide extra edge support to the entire perimeter of the mattress. You’d feel well-supported even if you’re the type of sleeper who likes to sleep close to the edge of the bed.

Alternate pick: Bear Original

If you prefer something with an all-foam construction, check out the Bear Original mattress.
Made from a blend of proprietary foam such as Bear’s own Dynamic foam that offers responsive support as well as cooling gel-infused memory foam, the Bear Original Hybrid offers that same compressing memory foam feel as traditional memory foam but without any of the sinkage.

#2. Helix Midnight Luxe

Pros
- Offers zoned support
- Plush and pressure relieving
- Great for strict side sleepers
- Fiberglass-free
Cons
- Not suitable for heavier back and stomach sleepers
- Can be a bit heat-retentive
20% off coupon code: SLEEPLINE20
Why it’s one of the best
It’s not very often that you can find a hybrid mattress that can absorb movement just like an all-foam mattress does but the Helix Midnight Luxe – even with its hundreds of pocketed steel coils – feels more like a memory foam mattress than a hybrid mattress.
Not entirely surprising since it does contain 2 different types of proprietary memory foam (plus a couple of responsive foam layers) but even with its thicker coil unit the Helix Midnight Luxe can rival just about any all-foam mattress when it comes to motion isolation making it the best option for those who share a bed.
But for all its merits when it comes to motion isolation, I find that the Helix Midnight Luxe falls a little short in the cooling department – perhaps because of all its multiple foam layers 9we really can’t have it all can we?).
Specs at a glance
| Thickness levels | 13.5 inches |

Helix Midnight Luxe Performance
The Helix Midnight Luxe sits on a 6 on the mattress firmness scale, giving it a medium-firm feel. Usually mattresses with a medium-firm feel can accommodate most sleeper types but I find the Helix Midnight Luxe to be a tad too soft right in the middle which can wreak havoc for a strict stomach sleeper who weighs more than average.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
As I’ve mentioned previously, the Helix Midnight Luxe contains multiple layers of proprietary memory foam as well as a quilted pillow top which gives the mattress a plusher mattress surface which makes it even more pressure relieving, especially for those who sleep on their sides.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 6 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
This is where the multiple layers of foam work against the Helix Midnight Luxe a little bit – as we all know, memory foam can be quite heat-retentive and even though the memory foam used in the Helix Midnight Luxe is infused with cooling gel, it still wasn’t enough – I would not recommend the Helix Midnight Luxe if you tend to sleep extremely hot.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 10 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
I’ve already sung the Helix Midnight Luxe’s praises earlier when it comes to motion isolation so it’s no surprise that we rate a solid 10 out of 10. No notes.
We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 9 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
Like most hybrid mattresses these days, the Helix Midnight Luxe contains reinforced edges giving the mattress extra edge support. This also allows you to utilize more of the mattress surface.

Alternate pick: Helix Dusk Luxe

If you’re a strict stomach sleeper, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk Luxe.
Similar in construction to the Helix Midnight Luxe, the Helix Dusk Luxe is slightly firmer which means it can give strict back and stomach sleepers the extra lumbar support that they would need.

#3. Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro

Pros
- Offers extra support for back and joints
- Good for couples
- Pressure relieving
- Suitable for back sleepers
Cons
- Might be too firm for petite side sleepers
- Not suitable for hot sleepers
25% off coupon code: SLEEPLINE25
Why it’s one of the best
Made from a blend of proprietary foam layers (including a copper-infused memory foam) and individually wrapped coils, the Brooklyn Bedding Copperflex Pro mattress offers a plush and premium pillow top mattress feel without the premium price tag.
Coming in at a medium-firm, the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro mattress provides the right amount of support especially for those who sleep on their backs and stomachs, offering extra support for the joints which is always a good thing.
Another thing that I like a lot about the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro is that you can barely feel any motion transfer making it a great choice for couples.
Specs at a glance
| Thickness levels | 14 inches |
| Firmness levels | Medium Firm |
| Materials | GlacioTex cooling cover, pressure relieving quilted foam, memory foam, VariFlex transition layer, zoned lumbar support foam, individually wrapped spring coils, high density foam |

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Performance
With its medium-firm to firm firmness level, the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro is around a 7 on the mattress firmness scale. This makes it suitable for back and stomach sleepers but may be a little too firm for lightweight side sleepers.
Being a hybrid mattress, the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro can provide the extra support that heavier-set individuals need.
We rate the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro’s 4 foam layers provide pressure point relief akin to how a traditional memory foam mattress would but without the dreaded sinkage.
We rate the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro a 6 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
Sure, the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro contains copper-infused memory foam which is supposed to actually help with temperature regulation but for some reason, the CopperFlex Pro retains quite a significant amount of heat and I would not recommend it to someone who sleeps extremely hot.
We rate the Brooklyn Bedding Copperflex Pro an 8 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
The multiple comfort and support foam layers of the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro absorb any cross mattress movement quite well and I barely felt any motion transfer when I tried the mattress out with a partner.
We rate the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro a 7.5 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
Though not the worst, the edge support on the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro is not the best either – you won’t be rolling off the edge of the bed but you will sink into the edge if you sit on it.

Alternate pick: Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe

If you need something that’s more cooling, check out the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress.
Similar in construction to the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro, the Aurora Luxe mattress works just so much better than the CopperFlex Pro at letting any retained heat dissipate making it a good option for hot sleepers.

#4. Egohome Black

Pros
- Great for side sleepers
- Excellent motion isolation
- Contouring and compressing
- Good for those who suffer from chronic pain
Cons
- Poor edge support
- Not suitable for heavier-set stomach sleepers
12% off coupon code: SLEEPLINE12
Why it’s one of the best
Not all affordable mattresses work as well as they claim but the Egohome Black mattress works just as well as a lot of higher-end all-foam mattresses on the market, if not better.
Featuring layers of proprietary memory foam alternatives, the Egohome Black mattress offers the same contouring and compression as traditional memory foam but without any of the sinkage.
The one feature of the Egohome Black that really stands out is its motion isolating properties.
I know, I know – all-foam mattresses in general are known to perform very well when it comes to absorbing any movement but some are bouncier than others but with the Egohome Black you would feel virtually nothing at all.
Specs at a glance

| Materials | Graphene cooling mattress cover, copper gel AeroFusion foam, Adaptifoam, liquid gel CoolFlex foam, support foam, fire retardant |

Egohome Black Performance
You get to choose between 2 different firmness levels with the Egohome Black mattress – a medium-soft and a medium-firm. Choose the medium-soft version if you’re a strict side sleeper and opt for the medium-firm version if you’re a strict back or stomach sleeper.
Since the Egohome Black mattress features an all-foam construction, it won’t be able to fully support those who weigh well over 250 lbs and provide them with the extra support that they need like a hybrid mattress would.
We rate the Egohome Black mattress an 8.5 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
Contouring and pressure relieving, the Egohome Black provides basically the same sleeping experience as a classic memory foam mattress no matter your preferred sleeping position which means all your main pressure points are well-supported.
We rate the Egohome Black mattress a 6.5 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
I can’t really say that the Egohome Black does not contain any actively cooling materials – it does contain copper gel-infused foam and cooling gel-infused foam – but for some reason, it still retains a lot of heat. I certainly won’t recommend this to hot sleepers.
We rate the Egohome Black mattress a 10 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
This is the Egohome Black’s claim to fame. This is where it shines. I did not feel any motion transfer whatsoever when I tried the Egohome Black mattress out with a partner.
We rate the Egohome Black mattress a 6 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
Since it’s an all-foam mattress, the Egohome Black does not feature any reinforced edge coils nor are its edges firm enough to sit on – you will find yourself rolling off the edge of the bed if you sleep on or close to the edge.

#5. WinkBeds GravityLux

Pros
- Good for back pain
- Exceptional edge support
- Very cooling
- Great for couples
Cons
- Medium version can be too firm for some
- Slight off-gassing
Why it’s one of the best
You might think it’s impossible to find an all-foam memory foam mattress that’s also cooling but the WinkBeds GravityLux is one of the best queen-sized all-foam mattresses that I’ve tried that surprisingly does not retain any heat making it an excellent choice for hot sleepers.
Made from premium memory foam layers, the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress features a simple construction that consists of only 4 layers.
But don’t be fooled by its simplicity – each foam layer of the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress packs a punch that tackles everything you’d need to get a good night’s sleep.
Specs at a glance
| Thickness levels | 13.5 inches |
| Firmness levels | Soft, Medium, Firm |
| Materials | Breathable cover, cooling gel-infused memory foam, Aircell memory foam, Progression foam, high density foam layer |

WinkBeds GravityLux Performance
You get to choose between 3 different firmness levels with the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress – soft, medium and firm.
The soft version is best for those who sleep only on their sides while the medium version can accommodate most sleeper types including combination sleepers. The firm version is best for those who sleep on their backs or stomachs. Word of warning though – the GravityLux mattress does skew a little firm so manage your expectations.
Since the WinkBeds GravityLux is an all-foam mattress, it won’t be able to provide enough support for heavier-set individuals like a mattress that contains both foam and coils.
We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 7 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
As I’ve mentioned, the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress skews slightly firm which is why we don’t really give it full marks but you still get the same comfort and pressure relief as long as you pick the firmness level that best suits your preferred sleeping position.
We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 10 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
You read that right. 10 out of 10 for a memory foam mattress that does not even contain any spring coils.
And the WinkBeds GravityLux does not even contain any actively cooling materials that’s fancy schmancy – just cooling gel-infused memory foam and an open-celled proprietary foam called Aircell and that’s enough to completely do away with any heat retention.
We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 10 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
I probably sound like a broken record by now but you already know that all-foam mattresses are king when it comes to motion isolation and the GravityLux mattress is definitely not an exception.
The multiple foam layers of the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress work together to absorb even the smallest movements making the GravityLux the perfect choice for couples.
We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 10 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
The WinkBeds GravityLux contains reinforced edges (which is pretty uncommon for all-foam mattresses) and this helps give the mattress extra edge support which in turn allows you to utilize more of the mattress surface.
Alternate pick: WinkBeds EcoCloud

If you prefer something with a coil unit, check out the WinkBeds EcoCloud mattress.
Made from a blend of certified organic Talalay latex and individually pocketed, recycled steel coils, the WinkBeds EcoCloud is a more natural alternative to the GravityLux that also provides more responsive support.
#6. Plank Firm Luxe

Pros
- Suitable for heavier-set individuals
- Cooling
- Great edge support
- Flippable design
Cons
- Not suitable for strict side sleepers
- Slight motion transfer
25% Off Coupon Code: SLEEPLINE25
Why it’s one of the best
Flippable mattresses like the Plank Firm Luxe allow you to experience different firmness levels within one mattress and all for the price of one – and in the case of the Plank Firm Luxe, that price is also pretty affordable.
While most flippable mattresses on the market are usually all-foam, the Plank Firm Luxe features a spring coil support unit that can accommodate heavier-set individuals.
Both firmness levels of the Plank Firm Luxe are pretty firm though (I mean, it’s literally in the name) so if you’re a strict side sleeper, this won’t be the right fit for you.
Specs at a glance

Plank Firm Luxe Performance
The Plank Firm Luxe comes in two firmness levels – firm on one side and extra-firm on the other. Firmer mattresses are best for those who sleep only on their backs and stomachs.
We rate the Plank Firm Luxe an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
When you think firm, you’re probably thinking ‘not comfortable’ – but only if you’re a side sleeper. Back and stomach sleepers get more than enough pressure point relief as well as comfort with either side of the Plank Firm Luxe.
We rate the Plank Firm Luxe a 9 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
Although the Plank Firm Luxe does not contain any actively cooling materials whatsoever, it still did a good job drawing heat away from the mattress. The Plank Firm Luxe’s firmness did a lot of the heavy lifting here – you’re basically laying on top of the bed as opposed to laying ‘within it’.
We rate the Plank Firm Luxe a 7 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
I did experience a very tiny amount of motion transfer when I tried the Plank Firm Luxe out with a partner but if you’re not a very light sleeper then this wouldn’t really be an issue.
We rate the Plank Firm Luxe a 10 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
Reinforced edge coils surround the perimeter of the entire mattress giving the Plank Firm Luxe superb edge support. This not only means that you can comfortably sleep close to or even on the edge of the bed but you have more of the mattress surface to roll around in – crucial especially if you share a bed.
25% Off Coupon Code: SLEEPLINE25
Alternate pick: Plank Firm

If you prefer something without springs, check out the Plank Firm mattress.
Similar in construction to the Plank Firm Luxe just without the coil unit, the Plank Firm mattress is also flippable and features 2 different firmness levels within one mattress – also both firm.

Made from a blend of organic latex foam, organic wool and recycled steel coils, the Birch Luxe Natural is naturally hypoallergenic and cooling, making it ideal for those who suffer from seasonal allergies as well as those who sleep hot.
Unlike memory foam, which is contouring, latex foam like the one used in the Birch Luxe Natural is more responsive which helps you achieve proper spinal alignment.

Birch Luxe Natural Performance
The Birch Luxe Natural sits on a 6.5 on the mattress firmness scale giving it a medium-firm feel. While this firmness level can accommodate most sleeper types including strict back and stomach sleepers, I find the Birch Luxe Natural to be a little soft for heavier-set sleepers.
We rate the Birch Luxe Natural an 8 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
True, latex foam is not as compressing as traditional memory foam but you still get enough pressure point relief no matter what sleeping position you choose. The Birch Luxe Natural mattress also provides zoned support which targets key areas of the body for extra support.
We rate the Birch Luxe Natural a 9 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
As I’ve mentioned previously, pure and organic latex like the one used in the Birch Luxe Natural is naturally cooling. That coupled with organic wool (which is temperature regulating) and the mattress’ coil unit makes the Birch Luxe Natural extremely cooling – perfect for hot sleepers.
We rate the Birch Luxe Natural an 8 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
While you might think that the combination of springy latex foam and a coil unit of considerable size is a recipe for disaster, I barely felt any motion transfer when I tried the Birch Luxe Natural with a partner.
We rate the Birch Luxe Natural an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
The Birch Luxe Natural features reinforced edge coils as well as thicker edge seams giving the mattress really good edge support. This allows you to utilize the entire mattress surface.

#8. Glacier Original Hybrid

Pros
- Offers responsive support
- Cooling
- Helps with proper spinal alignment
- Good for back and stomach sleepers
Cons
- Not suitable for strict side sleepers
- Slight motion transfer
Why it’s one of the best
Cooling and affordable are the two main words that would define why the Glacier Original Hybrid is on our best queen-size mattress list.
Each layer of the Glacier Original Hybrid contains active cooling tech such as graphite foam, cooling gel foam and ventilated foam so it should come as no surprise that the Glacier Original Hybrid is pretty cooling (it’s also right there in the name).
The Glacier Original Hybrid’s slightly firmer mattress surface also helps you achieve proper spinal alignment giving you much needed lumbar support especially if you’re a strict stomach sleeper.
Specs at a glance
| Thickness levels | 12 inches |

| Materials | Cooling Comfort cotton cover, graphite-infused memory foam, gel-infused memory foam, ARCFlow ventilated foam, pocketed steel coils, high density foam |

Glacier Original Hybrid Performance
The Glacier Original Hybrid sits on a 7.5 on the mattress firmness scale giving it a medium-firm feel that slips more into the firmer end of the spectrum. For that reason, I would recommend the Glacier Original Hybrid to those who sleep mostly on their backs and stomachs. Strict side sleepers would find the Glacier Original Hybrid to be too firm to provide them with the pressure relief that they need.
We rate the Glacier Original Hybrid a 7.5 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
We would have rated this a little bit higher if the Glacier Original Hybrid had been more of a medium and could accommodate side sleepers but for back and stomach sleepers, the Glacier Original Hybrid provides ample pressure relief from their main pressure points.
We rate the Glacier Original Hybrid an 8 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
There’s no question when it comes to the Glacier Original Hybrid’s cooling capabilities – every layer of the mattress contains some form of cooling tech that helps do away with any heat retention allowing you to sleep cool and fresh all throughout the night.
We rate the Glacier Original Hybrid a 6 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
For a mattress that’s pretty firm (which usually helps with motion isolation), I still experienced a good amount of motion transfer when I tried the Glacier Original Hybrid out with a partner. If you’re a light sleeper then I would not recommend it.
We rate the Glacier Original Hybrid a 7.5 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
Reinforced edge coils surround the perimeter of the entire mattress giving the mattress extra edge support. Although not the best – I still experienced a tiny bit of sinkage when I laid right on top of the edge – it was not the worst either as long as you stay off the very edge.
Alternate pick: Glacier Summit Hybrid

If you’re a side sleeper and need something softer, check out the Glacier Summit Hybrid mattress.
Featuring the same cooling layers as the Glacier Original Hybrid, the Glacier Summit Hybrid comes in at a medium when it comes to firmness making it suitable for all sleeper types including those who sleep mostly on their sides.
#9. Puffy Royal

Pros
- Plush and luxurious
- Cooling
- Suitable for all sleeper types
- Pressure relieving
Cons
- Expensive
- Not the best edge support
Why it’s one of the best
I mean, who does not want to sleep on a bed that feels just as plush and luxurious as a 5-star hotel mattress? I know I do and I know you do too.
The Puffy Royal mattress features 10 (yes, TEN) layers which includes proprietary foam, specialty memory foam, blended wool filling as well as a quilted cloud touch cover that feels just like a Euro Pillow top giving you tons of compression and pressure point relief.
Another thing I liked a lot about the Puffy Royal is that even though it contains multiple layers of manmade foam, it still sleeps pretty cool which means even though it’s the type of bed that envelops you as you sleep, you won’t feel cocooned in your own body heat.
Specs at a glance
| Thickness levels | 14 inches |

Puffy Royal Performance
The Puffy Royal mattress sits squarely on a 5 on the mattress firmness scale giving it a true medium feel. This means it can accommodate all sleeper types from side sleepers and combination sleepers to stomach and back sleepers.
Being a hybrid mattress, the Puffy Royal mattress can accommodate heavier-set individuals as well although they might find the Puffy Royal to be more of a medium-soft rather than a true medium.
We rate the Puffy Royal a 9 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
With 10 different comfort and support layers there’s no doubt that the Puffy Royal mattress offers comfort and pressure relief with just the right amount of compression that you won’t feel as though you’re being swallowed up by the bed.
We rate the Puffy Royal an 8 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
The Puffy Royal mattress features cooling gel-infused foam, blended wool and Puffy’s own Climate Fiber layer that helps with temperature regulation so you’re never too hot and never too cold either.
We rate the Puffy Royal a 9 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
The multiple foam layers of the Puffy Royal mattress absorb most, if not all, of any cross mattress movement even if it’s a hybrid mattress. I did not feel any motion transfer whatsoever when I tried the Puffy Royal out with a partner making it a good choice for those who share a bed.
We rate the Puffy Royal a 6.5 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
Even though the Puffy Royal mattress contains reinforced edge coils, I found the edge support on the mattress to be pretty subpar, sadly. You WILL roll off the edge of the bed if you try to lie close to the edge.
#10. Saatva Classic

Pros
- Suitable for all sleeper types
- Great for couples
- Fiberglass-free
- Responsive and pressure relieving
Cons
- Edge support can be too firm
- Can be too pricey for some
Why it’s one of the best
It’s not hard to see why the Saatva Classic mattress takes a spot on our best queen-size mattress roundup – with its chiropractor-approved combination of gel-infused premium memory foam, 14.5 gauge recycled steel coils, Euro pillow top and Guardin-treated cover, the Saatva Classics is in a league of its own (and its price is in a league of its own too, in case you were wondering).
You get the benefits of both an innerspring mattress and a memory foam mattress with the Saatva Classic – compression and pressure relief as well as responsive support.
Saatva is also one of the very few mattress brands that treat all their mattresses with a botanical-based antimicrobial treatment which, in my honest opinion, adds a layer of safety to your overall sleep health.

Saatva Classic Performance
You get to choose between 3 different firmness options with the Saatva Classic mattress – medium-soft, medium and medium-firm.
The medium-soft version is best for strict side sleepers while the medium version can accommodate most sleeper types including combination sleepers. The medium-firm version is best for those who sleep predominantly on their backs and stomachs.
The Saatva Classic mattress also features a dual coil design which means it can accommodate heavier-set individuals and provide them with the extra support that they need.
We rate the Saatva Classic a 9.5 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.
The Saatva Classic mattress is fully designed with comfort at the forefront so it should come as no surprise that it gets near perfect marks from us when it comes to comfort and pressure point relief. Like I said, you get the best bits of both an innerspring mattress and a memory foam mattress all in one.
We rate the Saatva Classic a 9.5 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
For a mattress that does not really contain any actively cooling materials except for gel-infused memory foam, the Saatva Classic performs just as good – if not better – as other mattress brands that feature fancy cooling tech making it the perfect choice for those who sleep extremely hot.
We rate the Saatva Classic an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
The Saatva Classic features a dual coil design which basically means while you get double the support, you also get double the bounce but I really didn’t feel a lot of motion transfer when I tried the mattress out with a partner so I can safely say that I recommend it for those who share a bed.
We rate the Saatva Classic a 7.5 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
I’d say this was a case of “too much of a good thing can be a bad thing” – the reinforced edges of the Saatva Classic are raised a little too high and are a little too firm that it can be a bit uncomfortable to lie on. On the upside, you do get to use the entire mattress surface of the Saatva Classic.
How we chose these mattresses
We picked these mattresses based on a complete list of factors that we believe make up a great queen-sized mattress. We base them all off the following criteria:
- Pressure relief – Everyone has pressure points and this is important when it comes to choosing the right mattress. Depending on a person’s sleeping position, mattress firmness can greatly affect whether you would get enough pressure relief or not. We chose mattresses that offer maximum pressure relief.
- Cooling – Sleeping hot is the number one cause of sleeplessness among the greater population and choosing mattresses that offer superb cooling capabilities is crucial to getting a good night’s sleep.
- Firmness – Mattress firmness correlates to one’s preferred sleeping position and we chose mattresses that can suit most, if not all, sleeping positions from back sleeping to stomach sleeping and side sleeping.
- Motion isolation – Picking a mattress that offers good motion isolation is important if you share a bed with a partner. We chose mattresses that are suitable for couples.
- Edge support – Not only does edge support help (and protect!) those who prefer sleeping close to the edge of the bed, having a mattress with good edge support also provides you with a wider mattress surface.
- Durability – We chose mattresses that we know would last long and ones that come with reasonable return policies.
Conclusion
What makes a good queen-sized mattress is what makes a good mattress, no matter the size.
The mattresses on this list cover a wide range of preferences because a good mattress for one person may not be the best for another – there’s no one size fits all, especially when it comes to mattresses.
All the mattresses on this list have been chosen specifically for the factors we believe are important for every sleeper.
