Nowadays, it’s always the plush and cloud-like mattresses that get all the hype and attention. Top 10 best mattresses for stomach sleepers
#1. Bear Elite Hybrid
Why it’s the overall best
First up in our best mattress for stomach sleepers lineup is Bear’s top-of-the-line Elite Hybrid mattress.
The Elite Hybrid is our overall best pick because it has a durable, high-end construction which we found is great for supporting stomach sleepers of any body weight.
In addition to that, the Elite Hybrid also comes in three different firmness levels: Soft, Medium, and Firm. Read on to learn about its materials and how it performs in areas like cooling and motion isolation.

Bear Elite Hybrid performance
With 1 being as soft as a cloud and 10 concrete, we gave each version of the Bear Elite Hybrid the following firmness ratings: Soft (5), Medium (6), and Firm (7).
We found the Medium and Firm models to be best for stomach sleeping. My hips sank in quite a bit on the Soft version (and I’m 6’2″ 170lbs for reference).
A firmer mattress is usually much better at keeping your hips and spine in proper alignment.
In terms of cooling, we gave the Bear Elite Hybrid a 9.5 out of 10.
Unlike traditional memory foam mattresses, it has copper-infused memory foam which instantly absorbs body heat and even has antimicrobial properties. To further aid in cooling, the mattress also features a cover made of a blend of Phase Change Material and Celliant fiber.
We’re also happy to report that the Elite Hybrid mattress offers lots of pressure relief with a score of 9.8 out of 10.
Whether you’re a stomach sleeper, back sleeper, or side sleeper, you will find a version of the mattress that best suits your needs and preferences.
The Elite Hybrid excels in motion isolation with a rating of 9.4 out of 10.
This is likely due to its multiple foam layers coupled with its pocketed coil unit which helps reduce motion transfer.
As for edge support, we rate the Elite Hybrid a 9.2 out of 10.
This mattress has good edge support but most especially on the Firm version. This is great news for sleepers who like to sleep close to the edge of the bed.
All things considered, we gave the Bear Elite Hybrid an overall performance score of 9.5 out of 10.

#2. Naturepedic EOS Classic
Why it’s one of the best
We quite like that the Naturepedic EOS Classic is a fully customizable organic mattress that allows you to swap layers until you get your desired firmness and feel.
It has a hybrid design that provides sturdy support for strict stomach sleepers of all body types including those that are a bit more heavier-set.
Not only that, you can also adjust the firmness level on either side of the mattress (for queen sizes and above). This means you get a firmness level that suits your needs and preferences perfectly.

Naturepedic EOS Classic performance
The Naturepedic EOS Classic can be customized which means you can make it feel soft, medium-firm and even as firm as you want.
This mattress can accommodate everyone, regardless of body type and sleeping position. For stomach sleepers, the best options are the Cushion Firm, Firm, and Extra Firm.
Why?
Because stomach sleepers’ hips tend to dip into a softer mattress which can cause not only back pain but also improper spinal alignment.
I’ve been stomach sleeping a lot recently because it helps me fall asleep faster and I liked the Firm version best.
The EOS Classic got a cooling score of 9.3 which is great for those who tend to overheat at night.
Its hybrid construction gives you the breathability of natural latex and the airflow of innerspring mattresses.
Garnering a pressure relief score of 9.5, this mattress has a buoyant, responsive, and slightly firmer feel than your average bed.
It doesn’t have the soft, cradling feel most associated with memory foam mattresses but its plush versions do provide good pressure relief for side sleepers in particular.
The EOS Classic got an 8.7 for motion isolation.
This means that it has moderate to high motion transfer. We don’t recommend it for couples who want a mattress with low motion transfer.
As for edge support, the EOS Classic got an excellent score of 9.7.
You can try lying down or sitting on the edge of the bed and you’ll feel little to no sinkage depending on your body weight and the firmness level you chose.
The Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress got an overall score of 9.3 out of 10.
Factor | Performance |
---|---|
Firmness | Customizable |
Cooling | 9.3 |
Pressure relief | 9.5 |
Motion transfer | 8.7 |
Edge support | 9.7 |

Alternate pick: Naturepedic Chorus
A more affordable alternative to the EOS Classic is the Naturepedic Chorus. It’s a medium-firm mattress that’s also made with natural materials such as latex, wool, and eco-friendly pocketed coils.
The Naturepedic Chorus is a supportive mattress that can accommodate most sleepers types including stomach sleepers who are a bit more heavier-set.
#3. Nolah Original Hybrid
Why it’s one of the best
Next up in our best mattress for stomach sleepers list is Nolah’s Original Hybrid mattress.
We think it’s great because it’s an affordable and high-quality medium-firm mattress that’s best suited for light to average weight stomach sleepers.
Made with Nolah’s proprietary materials, the Original Hybrid has a balanced foam feel which is great for those who want something in between soft and firm.

Nolah Original Hybrid performance
The Nolah Original Hybrid sits on an 6.5 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale.
This means it’s medium-firm and it’s the firmness level that’s suitable for most individuals regardless of their preferred sleeping position.
That being said, this mattress is only suitable for stomach sleepers who weigh less than 250 lbs.
If you’re a heavier stomach sleeper, we suggest that you opt for a more supportive mattress. Check out our article on the best mattress for a heavy person for firm and durable options.
We rated the cooling on the Original Hybrid a 9.1 out of 10.
It’s a suitable mattress for hot sleepers since it features breathable open-cell foam and a coil system to allow for more airflow.
As for pressure relief, the Original Hybrid got a 9.5 on our test.
It provides lots of cushioning and pressure relief without giving you that stuck-in-the-mud feel. Whether you’re a stomach sleeper, side sleeper, or a combination sleeper, this mattress helps alleviate tension in your body and keeps your spine in a neutral alignment.
We gave the Original Hybrid the 9.3 for motion isolation.
We recommend this mattress if you sleep with a partner that like to switch positions while they sleep.
With a score of 8.9, the edge support on this mattress is pretty average.
Despite having reinforced coils around its edges, this hybrid mattress
does not have the best edge support. This is due to the bed’s soft comfort layers which compresses easily under your body weight.
The Nolah Original Hybrid got an overall score of 9.2 out of 10.

#4. Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid
Why it’s one of the best
You wouldn’t think a contouring memory foam mattress like the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid would be good for stomach sleeping, but it’s a rare exception.
To our surprise, Saatva managed to create a hybrid mattress that is ideal for side sleeping but also suitable for stomach sleepers.
Pressure relief is the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid’s middle name. If you’re a strict stomach sleeper looking for a mattress that cradles your joints and removes tension from your body, this is it.

Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid performance
Sitting at a 6.5 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale, it can accommodate most individuals and it’s a good mattress for stomach sleepers.
Side sleepers and back sleepers will also enjoy its medium-firm feel.
In terms of cooling, we gave the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid a 9.6 out of 10.
Hot sleepers will also enjoy how breathable this mattress is. Aside from the wavy AirCradle® foam, it also contains a layer of proprietary gel-infused memory foam which helps do away with body heat.
We really liked the pressure relief on this mattress so we gave it a 9.7.
Though I experienced the conforming hug feeling of soft memory foam, I didn’t feel like I was being swallowed by the mattress. Saatva did a really great job with this new mattress in terms of comfort and support.
We gave the Memory Foam Hybrid a motion isolation score of 9 because it has moderate motion transfer.
Memory foam beds usually excel at isolating cross-mattress motion. However, this mattress performed a little below average in our opinion. Chalk it up to the pocketed coils.
But as always, a Saatva mattress never disappoints when it comes to edge support and this bed gets a 9.8 out of 10. Feel free to sleep near the edges of the bed. You’ll see what I mean.
The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid got an overall score of 9.5 out of 10.

Our best mattress for stomach sleepers lineup continues with the all-natural PlushBeds Luxury Bliss.
We think this premium latex hybrid mattress is excellent for back and stomach sleeping because of its supportive and responsive feel.
Offered in two firmness options: Medium and Medium-Firm, you can choose which version fits you best. Aside from being great for stomach sleepers, the Luxury Bliss is also a good choice for individuals who suffer from night-time allergies (like me).

PlushBeds Luxury Bliss performance
We gave the Luxury Bliss Medium version a 6 and the Medium-Firm model a 7 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale.
We recommend the Medium-Firm version for back and stomach sleepers to get a sturdier sleep surface that can keep hips from sinking into the mattress.
On the other hand, side sleepers should opt for the Medium model for a bit more of a cradled-in feel as well as pressure relief.
Garnering a 9.2 score for cooling, the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss mattress is a good mattress for hot sleepers.
Being a latex hybrid mattress, it allows air to flow through the perforated latex and the pocketed coil system to keep you cool.
In terms of pressure relief, we gave the Luxury Bliss a 9.5.
This mattress provides a nice blend of cushioning and responsiveness that’s on par with premium hybrid mattresses. However, don’t expect it to be a soft mattress because latex as a material is bouncier and more responsive than memory foam.
The Luxury Bliss got an 8.8 for motion isolation which means if you’re sharing a bed with a heavier partner, you might feel a little bit of movement.
As for edge support, we give the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss a 9.2.
Overall, the Luxury Bliss got a performance rating of 9.3.

#6. Emma Hybrid Comfort
Why it’s one of the best
If you’re looking for a budget hybrid bed that can keep you supported while stomach sleeping, the Emma Hybrid Comfort is one of the best in the online mattress space.
We like that it offers great value for its price and that it has zoned support to ensure proper spinal alignment in stric stomach sleepers.
Additionally, the Emma Hybrid Comfort is a medium-firm mattress that can also accommodate side and back sleepers.

Emma Hybrid Comfort performance
At 6.5 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale, the Emma Hybrid Comfort has an industry standard medium-firm feel.
This is usually the best mattress firmness for accommodating a wide range of sleepers regardless of their sleeping position.
That said, it is not supportive enough for stomach sleepers who weigh over 250 lbs. We definitely wouldn’t want you to risk sinking too much into its layers and putting your spine out of alignment.
With a cooling score of 9 out of 10, the Emma Hybrid Comfort is great for hot sleepers.
It doesn’t have active cooling properties but it should help you sleep a bit more temperature-neutral throughout the night.
As for pressure relief, this mattress lives up to its name with a pressure relief score of 9.6.
It has soft conforming memory foam layers for pressure relief and a zoned support system to keep your spine aligned while stomach sleeping.
Despite its hybrid construction, the Emma Hybrid Comfort mattress got a 9.1 for motion isolation.
This is great if you sleep with a partner that keeps on switching positions at night.
Unfortunately, this mattress has below average edge support. It got an 8.8 in our edge support test. We don’t recommend sleeping near the edges of the bed lest you fall off the bed.
The Emma Hybrid Comfort got an overall score of 9.1 out of 10.
Read our Emma Hybrid Comfort review for more details if you think this might be the mattress for you.

The Winkbed performance
The Winkbed comes in three different firmness levels for you to choose from.
These range from Softer (4.5 out of 10) and Firmer (7.5 out of 10) with a bonus option for heavyset individuals called Plus which is an extra-firm mattress that sits on the mattress firmness scale at an 8 out of 10.
This mattress is suitable for all sleeper types regardless of body weight. As for stomach sleeping, we would recommend anything from the Luxury Firm version to the Plus model. Remember, this will also depend on your body weight.
If you’re looking for a cooling mattress the Winkbed is good but not great. We gave it a cooling score of 9.1 out of 10.
Although it has gel memory foam to absorb body heat, you shouldn’t expect anything more than a temperature-neutral sleep surface.
In terms of pressure relief, we gave the Winkbed a 9.8 out of 10.
It’s one of the most pressure-relieving beds we’ve ever tested. Its gel memory foam comfort layer conforms to your body and alleviates any pain or tension.
The Winkbed does not have the best motion isolation. We gave it an 8.9 out of 10 for motion isolation.
If you sleep with a partner, you might feel their movements especially bigger ones like getting in and out of bed.
But when it comes to edge support this mattress is excellent. We gave it a 9.7 out of 10 for edge support.
You can sleep or sit on its edges and still feel as supported as you are on the middle.
The Winkbed got an overall performance score of 9.4.

Avocado Green performance
The Avocado Green’s three versions are Standard, Pillow Top, and Box Top.
Based on the mattress firmness scale, we gave them a 7, 6, and 5 out of 10 respectively with the Box Top being the softest and the Standard being the firmest.
Stomach sleepers benefit more from a firmer mattress so we recommend choosing the Standard model for maximum support.
In terms of cooling, the Avocado Green got a 9 out of 10.
Latex mattresses tend to be quite breathable due to their perforated design. You’ll get plenty of airflow and ventilation on this mattress.
The Avocado Green has softer model which offer plenty of cushioning and comfort. We gave it a pressure relief score of 9.5 out of 10.
If you’re looking for a mattress for couples, you should know that this mattress does not excel in motion isolation. We gave it a motion isolation score of 8.9.
Because it’s made with organic Dunlop latex, the Avocado Green has quite a bouncier and more responsive surface which transfers motion more than usual.
That said, the Avocado Green does have great edge support. We gave it a 9.5 in our edge support test.
You won’t compress its layers too much when lying or sitting on the edge of the bed.
Overall, the Avocado Green got a performance score of 9.2 out of 10.

Puffy Lux performance
Sitting at a 6 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale, the Puffy Lux is slightly softer than average.
It’s suitable for all sleeper types including side, back, and stomach sleepers.
However, this mattress will not be supportive enough if you’re a heavier-set stomach sleeper. You should opt for firmer mattress.
We gave the Puffy Lux a 9.1 for cooling.
If you tend to overheat at night, the Puffy Lux also has pretty good cooling properties. Almost all of its materials have some sort of temperature-regulating properties that help you stay cool all night long.
In terms of pressure relief, the Puffy Lux got a 9.6 out of 10.
This mattress provides you with a conforming hug feeling thanks to its soft gel-infused memory foam layers.
We gave the Puffy Lux a 9.3 for motion isolation, and an 8.9 for edge support.
The Puffy Lux also has excellent motion isolation which makes it a great mattress for couples. However, it does fall short on the edge support category which is surprising for us since it features reinforced coils around its edges.

Latex for Less Hybrid Latex Mattress performance
The Latex for Less Hybrid comes in two firmness levels: Medium (5) and Firm (7.5).
Choose the Firm version if you’re a back and stomach sleeper and the Medium version if you’re a side or combination sleeper.
In terms of cooling, the Latex for Less Hybrid got a 9.2 out of 10.
It contains breathable latex and pocketed coils which helps promote continuous air circulation. It’s a good option for hot sleepers even though it isn’t really a mattress that can actively cool you down.
For its pressure relief, we gave it a 9.4 out of 10.
This mattress offers ample cushioning which helps relieve pressure off the main pressure points especially on the Medium version.
Garnering a motion isolation score of 9, we are happy to report that this mattress has low motion transfer for a latex bed.
However, this could increase if you have a partner who’s on the heavier side and they frequently move throughout the night.
Getting an 8.9 on our edge support test, the Latex for Less Hybrid performed below average for a hybrid model.
Although, the Firm version did have slightly better edge support than the Medium model. Nevertheless, this shouldn’t be an issue if you are on the light to average weight range.
The Latex for Less Hybrid got an overall score of 9.1 out of 10.
We go into more details about the performance tests we conducted in our full Latex for Less Hybrid review.

FAQs
Stomach sleepers should look for a mattress that’s firm enough to keep their hips from sinking into its layers. We recommend a mattress that has supportive coils or one that’s made with firm natural latex.
A firm mattress will be better for stomach sleeping because it ensures that your hips will stay aligned with your spine and shoulders. This should prevent the development of back pain and neck pain.
Conclusion
We know that stomach sleepers are sometimes overlooked in the online mattress space. In a world of plush mattresses, we wanted to help stomach sleepers find a mattress that can support them and keep them pain-free. All the models we picked are durable, comfortable, and made with premium materials.
Our top recommendation is the Bear Elite Hybrid mattress.
