It’s no secret that Bear churns out quality mattresses. While you might think that their least expensive option would be short on quality, that isn’t the case.

The Bear Original mattress features just three different components – cooling gel-infused memory foam, a proprietary Dynamic foam, and a high-density foam base layer. In this case, I think simple is more than enough. The materials really are high quality.

The Bear Original’s medium-firm feel can accommodate most sleeper types including those who sleep primarily on their backs and sides.

The best thing about the Bear Original is its motion isolating properties – you literally won’t feel any motion transfer which makes it the perfect choice for those who share a bed.

Truth be told, the rating for this would have been a little higher if only the mattress was good for heavier-set sleepers, but for an all-foam mattress with a medium-firm feel, it provides ample contouring and pressure relief for all other sleeper types.

Due to its lack of actively-cooling materials (save for the cooling gel foam, which honestly didn’t do much), the mattress isn’t the best if you’re a hot sleeper.

As with most all-foam mattresses, this mattress’ all-foam construction does a solid job at deadening any cross mattress movement. I barely felt any motion transfer when I tried the mattress out with a partner.

The mattress doesn’t contain any reinforced edges, which shows in its lack of proper edge support. Although not the worst, you’ll definitely roll off the bed if you’re the type of sleeper who likes to sleep on or close to the edge.

Another thing I liked a lot about the Glacier Original Hybrid is that it’s cooling for even those who tend to sleep extremely hot.

If only the mattress were a little softer then it could have gotten a higher rating. But because it’s not great for side sleepers, well, here we are. But back and stomach sleepers get more than enough contouring as well as targeted support.

Almost all the components of the mattress are actively cooling; such as graphite, cooling gel-infused memory foam, and ventilated gel foam (which helps with heat retention).

The coil unit is a bit bouncier than most, which contributes to the bed being somewhat springier which in turn makes you feel a bit more motion transfer. Though not the worst, you might feel uncomfortable if you share a bed with someone significantly heavier than you.

Sure, the mattress contains a couple of gel-infused foams that are supposedly cooling… but it’s not enough to help with heat retention. If you tend to sleep extremely hot, this mattress is not for you.

I probably sound like a broken record by now but there’s no denying that all-foam mattresses are the best at motion isolation and the Egohome Black is at the top of the pack on this list.

If you think a 7 is pretty low, know that we only rate it that purely because it’s not suitable for side sleepers. But back and stomach sleepers definitely will experience ample pressure relief.

There is literally only one actively-cooling material in the mattress, but one is more than enough in this case. The cooling gel-infused memory foam in combination with the mattress’ coil unit is enough to keep the heat away.

Let’s face it – hybrid mattresses will always have that inherent bounce due to their coil units. Although this mattress’ motion isolation isn’t the best, it isn’t the worst either.

I like this. A lot.

Slight little caveat though – the Adapt Hybrid only comes in one firmness option which is firm. That means it’s really only good for stomach and back sleepers. Side sleepers should look elsewhere.
