Pros

  • Helps with muscle recovery
  • Plush and pressure relieving
  • Fiberglass-free

Cons

  • Motion isolation is not the best
  • Might be a little too firm for lightweight side sleepers

Why it’s the overall best

The Bear Star Hybrid actually works with all types of bed frames and foundations but I found it to work best with a platform bed frame.

Made with a blend of of proprietary cooling gel-infused memory foam and individually wrapped steel coils, the Bear Star Hybrid also contains Bear’s signature Celliant cover which, in case you didn’t know, not only helps with temperature regulation but also aids muscle recovery which is perfect for those who live active lifestyles.

The Bear Star Hybrid is suitable for all sleeper types due to its medium-firm feel which means it does not matter whether your preferred sleeping position is on your back, stomach or sides, you’ll still get the pressure relief you need.

Another thing I really like about the Bear Star Hybrid mattress is that it’s completely fiberglass-free which makes it completely safe to sleep on.

Bear Star Natural Performance

The Bear Star Hybrid sits on a 6.5 on the mattress firmness scale which gives it a medium-firm feel.

As I’ve mentioned previously, this makes it suitable for all sleeper types from back and stomach sleepers to side and combination sleepers.

Bear in mind though that if you are a strict side sleeper and you weigh way less than average, you might find the Bear Star Natural mattress to be somewhat firm.

Since the Bear Star Hybrid contains a blend of foam and coils (it being a hybrid and all) then you know that it can definitely support heavier-set sleepers.

We rate the Bear Star Hybrid a 9.5 when it comes to pressure relief.

True, the Bear Star Hybrid contains memory foam which gives you the contouring and compression feel, but the mattress’ coil unit counteracts the sunk-in feeling that’s also (unfortunately) associated with memory foam. This means you still get maximum pressure relief but without that dreaded stuck in the mud feel.

We rate the Bear Star Hybrid a 9.7 when it comes to cooling.

The Bear Star Hybrid’s Celliant mattress cover is temperature regulating which means the Bear Star Hybrid keeps you warm when it’s cold and keeps you cool when it’s hot.

We rate the Bear Star Hybrid 9.6 when it comes to motion isolation.

While not the best we’ve tried due to its hybrid construction, the Bear Star Hybrid still did a pretty good job at keeping motion transfer at bay when we tried the mattress out with a partner making it a good choice for those who share a bed.

We rate the Bear Star Hybrid a 9.8 when it comes to edge support.

Thanks to its reinforced edge coils, the Bear Star Hybrid mattress performed exceedingly well when it came to edge support. You won’t be in any danger of rolling off the edge of the bed even if you’re the type of sleeper who likes sleeping close or on the edge of the bed.

Overall, we rate the Bear Star Hybrid a 9.6 for performance.

If you prefer a mattress that’s made with more natural materials, check out the Bear Natural.

The Bear Natural is made up of a blend of certified organic latex and innerspring coils that offers more responsive support instead of compression and contouring.

You still get more than enough pressure relief for your main pressure points no matter your sleeping position.

#2. Helix Midnight Luxe

Testing out the Helix Midnight Luxe
Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress

Pros

  • Great for couples
  • Best for side sleepers and combination sleepers
  • Plush and pressure relieving
  • Fiberglass-free

Cons

  • Might be too soft for stomach and back sleepers
  • Not suitable for those who sleep extremely hot

Why it’s one of the best

If you suffer from chronic back pain then you’re going to love this one.

The Helix Midnight Luxe features 5 layers of proprietary foam ranging from contouring copper-infused memory foam to different types of proprietary foam that offer responsive support as well as helping you achieve proper spinal alignment.

Another thing I liked about the Helix Midnight Luxe is its amazing motion isolating properties which makes it a great choice for couples.

If you’re a hot sleeper you might have one small issue with this mattress – although it does contain copper-infused memory foam (which is purported to help with heat retention), it still sleeps a little bit hot AND if you want to upgrade to either a Tencel or GlacioTex cover, you need to fork over some more of your hard-earned cash.

Helix Midnight Luxe Performance

The Helix Midnight Luxe has a medium-firm feel which makes it a 6.5 on the mattress firmness scale.

This makes it suitable for all sleeper types no matter the sleeping position, it doesn’t matter whether you prefer to sleep on your back or on your stomach.

However, you might find the Helix Midnight Luxe to be a bit too firm if you are a lightweight side sleeper.

We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 9.7 when it comes to pressure relief.

The memory foam comfort layers as well as the premium pillow top work together to provide optimum pressure relief to the body’s main pressure points.

We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 9.4 when it comes to cooling.

The Helix Midnight Luxe contains cooling gel-infused memory foam which helps keep heat retention at bay but if you sleep extremely hot, you may still feel some heat. You do have the option to choose between 2 cooling covers which further enhances the mattress’ ability to stave off heat.

We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 9.4 when it comes to motion isolation.

For a hybrid mattress that contains innerspring coils, the Helix Midnight Luxe performs pretty well when it comes to deadening any cross mattress movement – we barely felt any motion transfer when we tried the mattress out with a heavier partner.

We rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 9.5 when it comes to edge support.

Edge coils surround the entire perimeter of the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress which helps give it good and stable edge support.

Overall, we rate the Helix Midnight Luxe a 9.5 for performance.

If you’re hankering for something more luxurious than the Helix Midnight Luxe, check out the Helix Midnight Elite.

Featuring 5 foam layers ranging from memory foam to high density foam, the Helix Midnight Elite also features microcoil layers aside from its main coil unit.

This gives it a distinct feel that’s contouring and compressing yet supportive and slightly springy. The Helix Midnight Elite mattress also features Helix’s GlacioTex active cooling technology which is perfect for those who sleep extremely hot.

#3. Birch Natural

Testing out the Birch Natural
Birch Natural

Pros

  • Suitable for all sleeper types
  • Actively cooling
  • All-natural and certified organic
  • Offers great edge support

Cons

  • May be too pricey for some
  • Not suitable for couples

Why it’s one of the best

Want a bed that’s natural?

The Birch Natural is the answer to your all-organic mattress prayers.

Made from a blend of GOLS certified Talalay latex foam and individually pocketed coils, the Birch Natural is naturally cooling and hypoallergenic making it the perfect choice for hot sleepers as well as those who suffer from chronic allergies.

Natural latex foam has an inherent bouncy feel which gives the Birch Natural mattress a more responsive feel compared to more-compressing materials like memory foam but you still get ample pressure relief.

If you’re someone who absolutely hates the ‘stuck in the mud’ feel then the Birch Natural is the mattress for you, especially when paired with a platform bed frame.

You do need to bear in mind though that, like most natural mattresses, the Birch Natural has a bit of an earthy smell when you first unbox it.

This is completely normal with mattresses made from organic materials and the smell will dissipate with time.

Birch Natural Performance

The Birch Natural sits on a 6.5 on the mattress firmness scale giving it a medium-firm feel.

This makes it suitable for every sleeper type under the sun including stomach and back sleepers.

If you weigh less than average though and you’re a strict side sleeper, you may find the Birch Natural mattress to be a little firm so it’s best to keep this in mind.

We rate the Birch Natural a 9.6 when it comes to pressure relief.

Even though you won’t get the same contouring and deep compression as you would with memory foam, you would still get more than enough pressure pain relief from all your main pressure points with the Birch Natural mattress thanks to its latex foam comfort layer.

We rate the Birch Natural a 9.7 when it comes to cooling.

Pure latex is naturally cooling and when combined with the Birch Natural’s coil unit which allows air to flow freely throughout the mattress, makes for a natural mattress that’s pretty cooling. The Birch Natural also contains a layer of organic wool which acts as an all-natural flame barrier but it also helps with temperature regulation.

We rate the Birch Natural a 9.5 when it comes to motion isolation.

I have to be honest, we did experience a tiny amount of motion transfer with the Birch Natural but that’s because latex foam is naturally bouncier than polyurethane foam. But, this will only be an issue if you share a bed with a partner who’s heavier than you are.

We rate the Birch Natural mattress a 9.8 when it comes to edge support.

The slightly raised edge coils of the Birch Natural mattress provides exceptional edge support. This is one of the best mattresses with great edge support that we’ve tried.

Overall, we rate the Birch Natural mattress a 9.6 when it comes to performance.

If you’re willing to splurge a little on an all-natural mattress, check out the Birch Luxe Natural.

Although similar in construction to the base model Birch Natural, the Birch Luxe Natural features more elaborate components that help provide targeted lumbar support, 4-sided edge support as well as up to a 1,000 individually wrapped coils.

It is also a tad more expensive than the base model.

#4. Nolah Original Hybrid

Testing out the Nolah Original Hybrid on a platform bed frame
Nolah Original Hybrid Mattress

Pros

  • Great for heavier-set sleepers
  • Suitable for all sleeper types
  • Offers zoned support
  • Responsive and pressure relieving

Cons

  • Slight off-gassing
  • Poor edge support

Why it’s one of the best

The Nolah Original Hybrid earns a spot on our list because it’s a hybrid mattress that not only helps provide extra support but also helps with proper spinal alignment for both heavier-set sleepers and lightweight sleepers.

Instead of traditional memory foam, the Nolah Original Hybrid is made up of layers of open-celled memory foam alternative that’s contouring yet responsive – none of that stuck-in-the-mud feel.

What gives the Nolah Original Hybrid its extra supportive prowess is its proprietary HDMax Tri-Zone coil system that provides zoned support to all areas of the body.

The foam layers in the Nolah Original Hybrid feature an open cell structure which allows for continuous airflow which is great because man-made foams have a tendency to retain heat.

The only thing I didn’t like about the Nolah Original Hybrid is that its edge support leaves much to be desired.

Nolah Original Hybrid Performance

The Nolah Original Hybrid sits on a 6.5 on the mattress firmness scale.

This gives it a medium-firm feel which is suitable for all sleeper types from back and stomach sleepers to side and combination sleepers.

We rate the Nolah Original Hybrid a 9.5 when it comes to pressure relief.

The Nolah Original Hybrid is made up of a proprietary memory foam alternative that provides the same contouring and compression as true memory foam – thus giving optimum pressure relief – but without any of the sinkage.

We rate the Nolah Original Hybrid a 9.1 when it comes to cooling.

It’s definitely not the most cooling mattress that we’ve tried (thanks, memory foam alternative/polyfoam) but it still performed fairly well due to its open-celled construction.

We rate the Nolah Original Hybrid a 9.5 when it comes to motion isolation.

We barely felt any cross mattress movement when we tried the Nolah Original Hybrid out with a partner due to its memory foam alternative layer. Memory foam mattresses are great at isolating any cross mattress movement.

We rate the Nolah Original Hybrid an 8.9 when it comes to edge support.

This is where the Nolah Original Hybrid lets us down a little. Even though it contains reinforced edge coils, we still pretty much sunk into the edge of the bed when sitting. Forget about trying to lie down close to the edge.

Overall, we rate the Nolah Original Hybrid a 9.2 when it comes to performance.

#5. WinkBeds GravityLux

Winkbeds GravityLux platform bed test
WinkBeds GravityLux

Pros

  • Good for back pain
  • Perfect for those who share a bed
  • Actively cooling
  • Amazing edge support

Cons

  • Medium version can be a bit too firm for some sleepers
  • Slight off-gassing

Why it’s one of the best

So you want an all-foam mattress for your platform bed. We got you. The WinkBeds GravityLux mattress features 4 different layers of proprietary foam including two types of memory foam alternative foams and a much-more-responsive progression foam.

Like most all-foam mattresses, the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress performs amazingly well when it comes to motion isolation making it the perfect mattress for couples.

You also get three different firmness levels to choose from including a soft option for those who prefer to sleep mostly on their sides.

If you’re a big fan of memory foam then you’ll definitely appreciate the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress’ deep contouring and yes, you are going to get that deep compression that only memory foam can give.

You will get a small amount of off-gassing when you first unbox the mattress but this is totally natural, especially when it comes to memory foam beds.

Specs at a glance

WinkBeds GravityLux Performance

You get to choose between 3 different firmness levels with the WinkBeds GravityLux mattress: Soft, Medium and Firm.

This means you get the perfect option no matter what your preferred sleeping position may be, whether you’re a strict side sleeper or a back or stomach sleeper.

We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 7 out of 10 for pressure relief.

Ok, we’ve got an explanation for this. We tried out the medium version, which, in all honesty, felt a bit too firm. If you sleep predominantly on your sides then you would definitely feel a bit of pressure on the WinkBeds GravityLux. What we suggest is to get a firmness level that’s lower than what you would normally get.

We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 10 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.

Who would have thought that a springless mattress made up entirely from memory foam would get such a high score when it comes to cooling but here we are. WinkBeds utilizes their very own proprietary technology in their foam layers called Aircell. It actually features air capsules which help with heat dissipation. This is definitely an all-foam mattress that a hot sleeper will be happy with.

We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 10 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.

It’s no secret that all-foam mattresses are king when it comes to motion isolation. The WinkBeds GravityLux is no exception. The foam layers just completely absorbed all the movement when we tried it out with a partner making it a great choice for couples.

We rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 10 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.

There are no edge coils here (I mean, it IS an all-foam mattress) but for some reason, the WinkBeds GravityLux performed a whole lot better than some hybrid mattresses that we’ve tried.

Overall, we rate the WinkBeds GravityLux a 9.25 when it comes to performance.

Similar in construction to the GravityLux but with latex foam layers and the addition of a coil unit, the WinkBeds EcoCloud is responsive and pressure relieving with just the right amount of bounce. It is also naturally cooling and hypoallergenic like most natural latex foam mattresses are.

#6. Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe performance test
Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe

Pros

  • Offers maximum pressure relief
  • Offers responsive support
  • Features a plush pillow top
  • Actively cooling

Cons

  • Motion isolation could be better
  • Poor edge support

Why it’s one of the best

So you want a hybrid mattress that’s plush, you say?

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is what you need.

Made with a blend of proprietary materials including copper-infused hyper-elastic foam and VariFlex transition foam, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is pressure relieving in the distinct way that memory foam mattresses are while also being very responsive.

One thing that really stands out is its plush pillow top.

This is what gives the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe its soft, pillowy feel which, of course, contributes to its pressure relieving properties.

You also get to choose between 3 different firmness levels with the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe including a soft version which will make you feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud (disclaimer: NOT for back and stomach sleepers – we recommend that you go with medium or firm instead).

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe contains actively cooling materials which makes it a great choice for those who tend to sleep extremely hot.

A couple of things we didn’t like about the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe are its edge support and motion isolation. Because it’s so plush, you just sink into the edge of the bed when you sit on it and you do feel quite a bit of motion transfer.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Performance

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe comes in 3 different firmness levels: Soft, Medium and Firm. This means there’s a firmness option for every sleeping position be it side, back or stomach.

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe a 10 out of 10 when it comes to pressure relief.

No surprise here – this gets full marks for pressure relief due to the combination of its plush pillow top and proprietary memory foam alternative that gives the ultimate contouring and compression without that stuck in the mud feel.

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe an 8.5 when it comes to cooling.

As I’ve mentioned previously, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe contains actively cooling materials such as Brooklyn Bedding’s very own GlacioTex cooling cover and copper-infused foam making it a good choice for hot sleepers.

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe a 6.5 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation

We gotta be honest – this isn’t the best option if you share a bed with a partner because you feel quite a good amount of motion transfer due to the mattress’ plushier construction.

We rate the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe a 6 out 10 when it comes to edge support.

Another thing we’re quite disappointed with in the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is its edge support (or lack thereof). If you’re the type of person who likes sleeping close or on the edge of the bed, just forget it.

#7. Naturepedic EOS Classic

Testing out the Naturepedic EOS Classic
Naturepedic EOS Classic

Pros

  • Natural and all-organic
  • Naturally cooling and hypoallergenic
  • Customizable firmness
  • Provides responsive support

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Poor edge support

Why it’s one of the best

It may be pricey, but in this case you get what you pay for with the Naturepedic EOS Classic.

Made from layers of organic latex and organic wool, the Naturepedic EOS Classic offers responsive support as well as ample pressure relief. The organic wool layer also acts as a natural fire barrier while also helping with temperature regulation.

Pure latex is also naturally cooling and hypoallergenic making the Naturepedic EOS Classic a ‘clean’ and safe mattress to sleep on, which is especially important if you share a bed with your kids.

You also get to customize the firmness level of the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress – all you need to do is move the latex foam layers around to get your desired mattress firmness.

The mattress does contain a coil unit but it does not feature reinforced edge coils so the edge support on the EOS Classic is not that great.

Naturepedic EOS Classic Performance

You get to customize the firmness levels of the Naturepedic EOS Classic just by moving its foam layers around to get the desired firmness level that you need.

Choose something softer up top if you’re a strict side sleeper, a medium feel layer if you’re a combination sleeper and a firmer foam up top if you’re a strict back or stomach sleeper.

The Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress also contains pocketed coils making it a hybrid mattress which means it can accommodate heavier-set individuals.

We rate the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress a 9.6 when it comes to pressure relief.

Although you won’t get the same deep compression as memory foam, the latex foam layers in the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress still give you enough plushness that you won’t feel any pain in your main pressure points.

We rate the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress a 9.5 when it comes to cooling.

As I’ve mentioned previously, pure latex is naturally cooling and hypoallergenic so the Naturepedic EOS Classic does not retain any heat whatsoever, making it a great option if you tend to sleep hot.

We rate the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress a 9.7 when it comes to motion isolation.

Surprisingly, we did not experience a lot of motion transfer with Naturepedic EOS Classic even though latex foam, by nature, is springier than man-made foam. It is also a hybrid mattress which means it contains a coil unit but we barely felt any cross mattress movement when we tried it out with a partner.

We rate the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress an 8.7 when it comes to edge support.

Although the Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress contains a coil unit, it does not feature any reinforced edge coils which means you don’t get much in the way of edge support.

#8. Avenco Original Hybrid Plus

avenco hybrid mattress bare
Avenco Hybrid Plus

Pros

  • Perfect for strict back and stomach sleepers
  • Budget-friendly
  • Offers good edge support
  • Pressure relieving

Cons

  • Not suitable for strict side sleepers
  • Poor motion isolation

Why it’s one of the best

A hybrid mattress that won’t break the bank? Sign us right up!

The Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress is a budget hybrid that is made up of cooling gel-infused memory foam and a coil unit.

While it has that traditional memory foam feel, the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus is a firm mattress which means it’s only really good for back and stomach sleepers (sorry, side sleepers).

The cooling gel-infused memory foam does not retain any heat at all. With the addition of the coil unit which allows continuous air flow, the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus also does a pretty good job at keeping you cool throughout the night.

The only thing we didn’t like about the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus is its lack of motion isolation. You’re going to feel your partner moving around. A lot.

Avenco Original Hybrid Plus Performance

The Avenco Original Hybrid Plus sits on a 7 on the mattress firmness scale which gives it a true firm feel.

Firm mattresses are best for strict back and stomach sleepers.

We don’t recommend firmer mattresses like the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus if you sleep on your side as this will eat into your main pressure points.

We rate the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus a 7 out of 10 when it comes to pressure relief.

The only reason we gave it a pretty low score is because it can only accommodate strict back and stomach sleepers. Other than that it still performed very well.

We rate the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus an 8 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.

Even though the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus uses memory foam in its construction, it is infused with cooling gel which helps with heat dissipation. Combined with the coil unit, it makes for a pretty cool sleeping experience which means it’s a good choice for hot sleepers.

We rate the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus a 6 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.

For some reason (perhaps due to its spring coils), even though it’s a firm mattress, I did still experience quite a bit of motion transfer with the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus when I tried it out with a partner so I don’t really recommend it if you share a bed.

We rate the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus an 8.5 when it comes to edge support.

Though not the best, the edge support on the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress still supported me pretty well. You won’t be in any danger of rolling off the bed if you like sleeping close to the edge.

Overall, we rate the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus a 7.3 when it comes to performance.

#9. Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid

Testing out the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid
Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid

Pros

  • Offers responsive support
  • Perfect for couples
  • Fiberglass-free
  • Fully organic

Cons

  • Medium version may be too firm for petite side sleepers
  • Not as compressing as memory foam

Why it’s one of the best

Latex mattresses usually cost a pretty penny but the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid is pretty affordable for a fully-organic latex hybrid mattress.

You also get to choose between 3 different firmness levels with the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid, which means it can accommodate all sleeping positions.

Another thing I liked a lot about the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid mattress is its excellent motion isolation properties. it’s a good choice for those who share a bed with a partner.

As you probably already know by now, pure latex is naturally cooling and hypoallergenic which means the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid does not retain any heat.

Edge support is where the Honey Hybrid mattress really shines.

Since the edge support is so great, you get to utilize more of the mattress surface which again means more bang for your buck.

Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid Performance

You get to choose between 3 different firmness levels: Medium-Soft, Medium-Firm and Firm.

This means that there’s a firmness level for you no matter what sleeping position you prefer.

The Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid mattress can also provide heavier-set individuals with the extra support that they need.

We rate the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid mattress a 7.5 when it comes to pressure relief.

Don’t come in expecting deep contouring and compression like you would get with a true memory foam mattress (hence the score), but the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid still provides enough pressure relief that you won’t feel any pressure eating into your main pressure points.

We rate the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid an 8.5 when it comes to cooling.

Latex foam is naturally cooling and the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid does well when it comes to heat dissipation and dispersion, especially combined with the mattress’ coil unit.

We rate the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid an 8.5 when it comes to motion isolation.

We barely felt any motion transfer when we tried the mattress out with a friend making it a good choice for those who share a bed.

We rate the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid a 9.5 when it comes to edge support.

Like I’ve mentioned earlier, the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid performs exceedingly well when it comes to edge support which allows you to utilize the entirety of the mattress surface.

Overall, we rate the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid an 8.5 when it comes to performance.

#10. Origin LumbarCLoud

Testing the Origin Hybrid Pro mattress
Origin Hybrid Pro/LumbarCloud Mattress

Pros

  • Suitable for strict back and stomach sleepers
  • Helps with proper spinal alignment
  • Offers lumbar support
  • Extremely cooling

Cons

  • May be too firm for strict side sleepers
  • Edge support could wane over time

Why it’s one of the best

Want a mattress that’s extra-firm to get all those kinks out from your back?

The Origin LumbarCloud is the answer.

The materials and construction list of the Origin LumbarCloud is pretty impressive.

I mean, they pulled out all the stops – graphite-infused latex foam and cooling gel-infused memory foam? Yes. Ergo-steel micro-coils and Aerospace-grade individually wrapped titanium springs? Yes. Pillow top? Yes and yes. It’s like their design and engineering team just said yes to everything that makes a mattress great.

Here’s the only caveat though – it’s a pretty firm mattress and it only comes in one firmness level so it can only really accommodate back and stomach sleepers.

How we chose these mattresses

We chose these mattresses specifically for their pressure relieving, cooling and supportive qualities and their compatibility with platform bed frames .

  • Durability We looked for mattresses that are resistant to premature mattress sagging. To determine this, we tested them to make sure they could support a minimum load of 600 lbs. without compromising the structural integrity of the mattress. So far, we’ve found that organic latex hybrid mattresses last the longest followed by memory foam beds and lastly, classic innerspring beds.
  • Pressure relief We specifically looked for mattresses that contour to a sleeper’s body and distribute body weight evenly. We tested the ability of each mattress to conform to our bodies and relieve pressure points. Based on our experience, memory foam offers the best body-contouring and pressure relief so most of the models on our list contain memory foam layers.
  • Zoned support We looked for mattresses that provide zoned support to help alleviate tension and pain in your lower back. A mattress has zoned support when it’s firmer on the middle part where your lower back rests and softer around the shoulders and legs. A mattress with zoned support also offers extra support for your lumbar region and keeps your spine in a neutral alignment.
  • Certifications We looked for mattresses that are backed by environmental certifications. Some of the certifications that we look out for are CertiPUR-US and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for foam beds, and GOTS and GOLS for organic mattresses.

There is no one size that fits all when it comes to mattresses. Know what you want and what you need and choose one that suits you and not anybody else.

Conclusion

Although you can pretty much put any mattress on your platform bed frame, why settle for anything less than the best?

The mattresses on our list have been tried and tested by our team for its overall performance, value for money and full benefits.
