Our experience with Saatva Organic Sateen Sheet Set

Saatva mattresses are some of the best mattresses in the world and it’s only natural that their bedding are also top tier. The Saatva Organic Sateen sheet set contains our top fitted sheet pick.

Featuring a sateen weave that gives the Saatva Sateen fitted sheet its signature silky feel and sheen, the Sateen fitted sheet is also cooling and moisture-wicking which is perfect for those who sleep hot.

The Saatva fitted sateen sheets feature a 300 thread count and they felt incredibly smooth when we tried it out. In fact, they just kept getting softer and softer with each wash. The Saatva Organic Sateen sheet set is machine-washable but Saatva recommends using only cold water and a gentle laundry detergent – no bleach whatsoever.

The Saatva Sateen fitted sheet is a deep pocket sheet and can accommodate mattresses up to 16 inches tall, perfect for those with really thick mattresses. We found the elastic corners to be sturdy and they stayed in place no matter how much movement there was on the surface of the bed.

Speaking of bed surfaces, the Saatva Sateen fitted sheets also come in split and adjustable options. This means they can be used with either split style beds such as split king as well as adjustable mattresses.

The Saatva Organic Sateen sheet set comes in 3 neutral color options to choose from: white, ivory and gray. The set itself includes a flat sheet and two pillow cases along with the fitted sheet.

We did not experience any chemical-like smell when we first unboxed the sheet set, unlike other sheet sets out there and why would we, the Saatva Organic Sateen sheet set is GOTS certified 100% organic.

#2. Nolah Bamboo Sheet Sets

Nolan bamboo fitted sheet set
Nolah Bamboo Sheet Set

Pros

  • Temperature regulating
  • Made from breathable bamboo linen
  • Hypoallergenic and antimicrobial
  • OEKO-TEX Certified

Cons

  • Not compatible with adjustable mattresses
  • Only comes in white

Our experience with Nolah Bamboo Sheet Sets

Linen sheets are some of best sheets for those that tend to sleep hot and the most cooling of them all would have to be ones made from bamboo linen. The Nolah Bamboo sheet sets are the most cooling bed sheets we have tried thus far.

Made up entirely of bamboo linen, the Nolah Bamboo fitted sheets are temperature regulating making them a good choice for exceptionally hot sleepers. This means it can help you stay cool when it’s hot and stay warm when it’s cold. Bamboo linen is also naturally hypoallergenic, making the Nolah Bamboo sheets the perfect choice for those who suffer from seasonal allergies or for those with kids.

When it comes to softness and comfortability, we found the Nolah Bamboo fitted sheet to have a slightly crisp feel right off the bat when we tried it out – which is pretty normal for sheets made from linen fabric. But after a few washes, it turned softer, unlike other cotton sheets or even polyester sheets (Nolah recommends running it on the gentle cycle when you machine-wash).

The Nolah Bamboo fitted sheet has a pocket depth of 16 inches, making it compatible with mattresses that are on the thicker side. Most bedding brands these days offer deep pocket sheets but only a few go as far as 16 inches.

The Nolah Bamboo sheet sets are OEKO-TEX certified. This means that they are free from harmful chemicals or toxins that may harm you or the environment. They are also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council which means that the bamboo used for each and every Nolah sheet and other bedding are sustainably sourced.

The Nolah Bamboo fitted sheet comes as part of a set which includes pillow cases, a top sheet and a flat sheet. Unfortunately though, they only come in one color option, which is white.

It is also not compatible with adjustable mattresses although it does come in a split King option.

Jennifer Adams 600TC Egyptian Cotton Sheet Set

Pros

  • Made from 100% pure Egyptian cotton
  • High thread count
  • Breathable and cooling
  • Luxury sheets

Cons

  • Only comes in 3 sizes
  • Can be too pricey for some

Our experience with Jennifer Adams Egyptian Cotton Sheets

We all now by know that a high thread count only matters when it comes to bed sheets that are made from 100% pure long staple cotton and the best we have tried this year are the ones from Jennifer Adams.

With a thread count of 600, we found the Jennifer Adams Egyptian cotton fitted sheet to be exceptionally soft and smooth that it kind of felt like we were laying atop a tub of butter. Not only is it super soft, but the higher thread count also meant that the Jennifer Adams Egyptian cotton fitted sheet was quite breathable – perfect for hot sleepers who also tend to experience night sweats.

Although the Jennifer Adams Egyptian cotton sheets were already softer sheets than most right off the bat, multiple washes turned them softer than we could have ever thought possible so if you’re on the hunt for luxuriously soft, high thread count sheets then consider your search to be over.

A lot of bedding brands like to slap on an Egyptian cotton tag over their sheets but you can be sure that the Jennifer Adams Egyptian cotton sheets are made from the real deal. Each and every one of their Egyptian cotton sheets are handcrafted in a family-owned mill in India.

Unlike standard pocket sheets, the Jennifer Adams Egyptian cotton fitted sheet feature deep pockets and can fit tall mattresses up to 18 inches in thickness.

Another thing we like is that the entire Jennifer Adams sheet set come in cotton drawstring bags made from scrap material – the less plastic packaging, the better.

The Jennifer Adams sheet sets come in 4 colors: white, mushroom gray, fawn and storm. Each set comes with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and 2 pillow cases.

#4. WinkBeds 100% Fine Combed Cotton Sheet Set

winkbeds 100% fine combed cotton sheet set
WinkBeds 100% Fine Combed Cotton Sheet Set

Pros

  • Soft and breathable
  • Made from fine combed, long staple cotton
  • Patented corner bands for a secure fit
  • Made entirely in the USA

Cons

  • Only comes in white
  • Can be too pricey for some

Our experience with WinkBeds 100% Fine Combed Cotton Sheet Set

Most sheets made from cotton may contain short cotton fibers that may result in a slightly rough and uneven surface. This is where fine combing comes in.

Combed cotton is made by running fine brushes through every inch of the cotton threads, eliminating any impurities and loose fibers leaving behind only long, straight fibers that are even and aligned. This is what makes high quality cotton sheets feel soft and smooth almost like microfiber sheets.

The WinkBeds 100% Fine Combed Cotton sheet set are deep pocket cotton sheets that are some of the smoothest we’ve ever tried and like most sheets made from premium quality cotton, just get softer with each wash.

Made entirely in the USA, the WinkBeds Fine Combed fitted sheet feature WinkBeds’ very own patented corner bands for a more secure fit. It also comes with a patented “Guaranteed to Fit and Guaranteed to Stay On” deep sizing to fit all types of thicker mattresses. It does not matter even if you’ve got thicker mattress toppers on as well.

Aside from the fitted sheet, the WinkBeds Fine Combed Cotton sheet set includes an extra large flat sheet (which can also be used as a top sheet) and two pillow cases.

The only thing we didn’t like about the WinkBeds Fine Combed Cotton sheet set is that it only comes in one color option which is white.

PlushBeds Bamboo Sheets

Pros

  • Cooling and breathable
  • Naturally hypoallergenic
  • Moisture-wicking
  • Made from sustainable fabric

Cons

  • The most popular colors are always out of stock
  • Split mattress options are also always out of stock

Our experience with PlushBeds Bamboo Sheets

Light and airy, the PlushBeds Bamboo sheets are both thermo-regulating and moisture-wicking, making them an excellent option for hot sleepers.

Whether it’s hot or cold where you are, the PlushBeds Bamboo fitted sheet adjusts to your body’s temperature helping you sleep cooler when it’s hot and warmer when it’s cold

The PlushBeds Bamboo sheets are also moisture-wicking, which is especially important for those who suffer from night sweats. It helps keep both you and your mattress fresh and dry.

Naturally hypoallergenic, bed sheets made from bamboo such as those from PlushBeds help keep all the nasties (such as bacteria, cold and mildew) away.

Although not as soft as sheets made from Egyptian cotton, we still found the PlushBeds Bamboo fitted sheet to be soft and smooth when we tried it out, similar to sheets made from polyester microfiber.

You get more than few color options to choose from with the PlushBeds Bamboo sheets – from neutral colors to solid colors such as lemon yellow and sky blue. Perfect for those who would like a more colorful bed.

Unfortunately though, a lot of the more popular colors tend to sell out fast so if you see them in stock, we suggest you grab them quick.

What is a fitted sheet?

Fitted sheets are bed sheets that feature elasticized corners, either on all sides of the sheet or just along the corners. Fitted sheets are used to cover and protect a mattress while providing the sleeper comfortability.

They can be made from a variety of fabrics such as cotton and polyester fibers but the most popular ones are made from 100% pure cotton and linen.

Most fitted sheets come as part of a bed linen set which can include a flat sheet, pillow cases and in some instances can also include a top sheet or a duvet cover.

A lot of people prefer fitted sheets instead of flat sheets because they are more convenient and faster to put on a mattress. They also stay in place better due to their elastic corners. The only caveat to fitted sheets is that can be hard to fold them due to their three dimensional shape.

Factors to consider when choosing a fitted sheet

There are a few factors to consider when it comes to choosing a fitted sheet that would suit your needs and preferences.

Thread count

If you’re looking for that luxurious hotel bed softness, opt for fitted sheets that have a high thread count. The best thread count when it comes to sheets vary from 300-600 but bear in mind that thread count only applies to sheets made from 100% pure, long staple cotton.

Pocket depth

Thicker mattresses need deep pocket sheets. Pocket depth refers to how deep a fitted can go when it comes to covering the mattress depth. Deep pocket sheets usually go as high as 16 and sometimes even 18 inches.

Fabric type

The most popular fabrics when it comes to fitted sheets are cotton (especially Egyptian cotton) and linen. Both fabric types are breathable, cooling and soft to the touch. Cotton, in particular, gets softer with each wash. Both fabric types are also pretty durable.

Size

Always ensure that you get the correct fitted sheet size that corresponds with the size of your mattress. Although a larger fitted sheet can fit a smaller mattress, keeping the fit snug can be a problem and the sheet may move around when you do.

Elastic in corners vs. all-around

Depending on the bedding brand, the elastic in fitted sheets can come either all-around (meaning all sides of the sheet) or just in the corners. One is neither better than the other and this all comes down to your personal taste and preferences.

Ease of care

Most fitted sheets can be safely machine-washed and dried but some require more meticulous care such as dry cleaning. If you want something a little bit more easy to care for then opt for washing machine-friendly sheets.

Price

Depending on bedding brand and fabric type, fitted sheets can run the gamut from very expensive to cheap as chips. Choose one that suits your budget but also make sure that it can last you for a while.

Warranty and return policy

Most bedding brands do not really offer a return policy for bed linen although some do. Warranties are also usually only up to a year.

FAQs

Should I get cotton or microfiber fitted sheets?

Microfiber sheets can help you keep you dry but may not be as breathable as cotton fitted sheets. It would be best to opt for cotton fitted sheets since they provide both breathability and comfort.

Why won’t my fitted sheet stay on my mattress?

If your fitted won’t stay in place on your mattress it may be that you have a smaller sized fitted sheet compared to the actual size of your bed. It is always best to measure your mattress to get the exact measurements so you would be able to find the corresponding fitted sheet.

Can you put a fitted sheet on a mattress that’s an adjustable bed?

Some bedding brands offer fitted sheets that is compatible with an adjustable bed so yes, it is possible to use fitted sheets with an adjustable bed. Just make sure that the brand you are buying from offer them.

Conclusion

There are a ton of fitted sheet types and brands to choose from that it sometimes can get overwhelming but as long as you know what you want and need from a fitted sheet, then it’s easy to find the one that suits both your needs and budget.

The best fitted sheets are soft, breathable and thermo-regulating while also durable.
