Our experience with the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus Mattress
While there are quite a few attributes that we really appreciate in the Avenco Hybrid Plus mattress (such as its cooling capabilities and edge support), we found it to only be comfortable and pressure relieving for strict back and stomach sleepers, which limits the mattress’ benefits for only that particular set of sleepers.
The Avenco Hybrid Plus mattress has a true firm feel which, as you may already know by now, would not be able to provide strict side sleepers as well as combination sleepers enough pressure relief which could result in pressure and pain along the body’s main pressure points.
For back and stomach sleepers, however, a firmer mattress would be pretty beneficial as it not only supports their main pressure points but helps with proper spinal alignment as well.
This is the only reason why we would not really recommend the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress to be your daily driver if you’re a side or combination sleeper, but it could work well for a guest bedroom if you have one.
Another thing we didn’t like about the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress is its motion isolation or lack thereof.
If you share a bed with a partner, we suggest choosing an all-foam mattress.
Firmness Test
The Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress sits squarely on a 7 on the mattress firmness scale.
This gives it a true firm feel which is best for strict back or stomach sleepers.
Those who sleep solely on their sides would not find firmer mattresses like the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus to be comfortable as it would eat into their main pressure points (shoulders and hips).
Being a hybrid mattress, the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress can accommodate heavier-set individuals and be able to give them the extra support that they need.
Cooling Test
We rate the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress an 8 out of 10 when it comes to cooling.
We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress sleeps pretty cool even though it doesn’t really contain a lot of actively cooling materials – other than a layer of cooling gel-infused memory foam.
That, plus the combination of the mattress’ thick coil unit, allows air to flow freely throughout the entire mattress resulting in a cooler, fresher mattress day in and day out.
Motion Isolation Test
We rate the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress a 6 out of 10 when it comes to motion isolation.
Sad to say that we experienced a significant amount of motion transfer when we tried the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress with a partner.
While a thicker coil unit usually means a more supportive mattress (which the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus is), it can also mean a bouncier, springier bed which is a big no-no for those who share a bed with a partner or a pet.
Edge Support Test
We rate the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress an 8.5 out of 10 when it comes to edge support.
This is one of the areas where the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress really shines.
Featuring reinforced edge coils as well as foam edge reinforcements, the edge support on the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress is one of the best we’ve experienced.
Since it has good edge support, you’re able to comfortably utilize the entire mattress surface.
Pressure Relief/Comfort
We rate the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress a 7 out of 10 when it comes to pressure relief and comfort for strict back and stomach sleepers.
For other sleeping positions, we rate it a 6 out of 10.
As we’ve mentioned, the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress has a true firm feel which is great for back and stomach sleepers but not so much for side sleepers and combination sleepers.
This is because firmer mattresses eat into their main pressure points which, of course, is not very comfortable.
Construction
There are 5 layers to the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress.
All these layers come encased in a soft knit cotton fabric that’s breathable and moisture wicking.
The first layer is made up of comfort foam that helps with comfort and added support.
The second layer is made up of cooling gel-infused memory foam that helps do away with heat retention. It also helps with contouring and compression.
Another layer of pressure relieving comfort foam makes up the third layer of the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress which again helps provide added comfort and support.
The coil unit makes up the base of the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus and makes up the bulk of the mattress. Individually-pocketed, the coil springs are made from manganese steel which is pretty sturdy. This layer helps provide responsive support.
We did not experience any off-gassing when we unboxed the Avenco Original Hybrid Plus mattress.
Durability
The Avenco Original Hybrid Plus is the first mattress we’ve tried from Avenco.
Although we can’t really speak for its longevity because we’ve only had it for a short while, we can safely say that it’s made with good quality materials and with proper care and maintenance, you can certainly extend the life of your Avenco mattress.

Once your request has been accepted, Avenco’s customer service team will then walk you through the entire process of returning the mattress.
Upon confirmation that the return has been completed, a full refund will then be sent to the original mode of payment you used when you purchased the mattress.
As with all other online mattress brands, Avenco recommends taking at least 30 days to get used to the mattress.
