We rate the Plank Firm mattress a 7 out of 10 when it comes to comfort and pressure relief.

Had the mattress been a bit softer, this rating would have been a little higher. As it stands right now, it’s just too firm for side sleepers. There’s no question though when I say that the Plank Firm offers stomach sleepers and back sleepers enough pressure point relief in their main pressure point areas.

For an all-foam mattress – and one without any actively cooling materials at that – this mattress did a pretty good job at keeping heat retention at bay, making it a good choice for those who sleep hot and still prefer a mattress without springs.

As a general rule, all-foam beds absorb movement better than mattresses with springs. I barely felt any motion transfer when I tried the mattress out with a partner.

This is where the mattress disappoints me a little bit – for all its memory foam layers that supposedly help absorb motion transfer better, I still experienced quite a good amount of cross mattress movement when I tried the mattress out with a partner. Although I did feel a very small amount of motion transfer when I tried the mattress out with a partner, it wasn’t too uncomfortable… unless you happen to be a very light sleeper and share a bed with a partner who’s significantly heavier than you are. In that case I would look elsewhere.

Sad to say that even with the graphite and cooling gel infusions, the memory foam layers still retain quite a bit of heat. I would definitely not recommend it to you if you tend to sleep extremely hot. You’ll be roasting in this one.
