Our experience with Loom & Leaf Mattress
Our first pick in our list of the best queen-size mattresses is the Loom & Leaf. It is Saatva’s ultra-premium euro top mattress that would look at home in any 5-star hotel. Loom & Leaf is a memory foam mattress that comes in two firmness options – relaxed-firm and firm.
The relaxed-firm variant is a bit softer than the firm version. The Loom & Leaf mattress (firm variant) offers ample support to stomach and back sleepers as it doesn’t let their body sink in too deep into the mattress. For better spinal alignment, stomach and back sleepers should opt for the firm variant. However, side and combination sleepers will be more comfortable with the relaxed firm version.
We found the mattress to be suitable for couples with restless partners as it offers great motion isolation. People who suffer from back pain will also do well with the Loom & Leaf mattress.
Firmness
The Loom & Leaf mattress comes in 2 firmness options that you can choose from.
- Relaxed Firm – This variant sits on a 5-7/10 on the mattress firmness scale making it a medium to medium-firm. This variant of the Loom & Leaf suits the vast majority of sleepers, hence it is quite popular. It allows for healthy spinal alignment for stomach, side and back sleepers. However, average-weight side sleepers and combination sleepers will find it most comfortable. Couples with different sleeping positions will definitely appreciate its neutral feel.
- Firm – This variant sits at an 8/10 making it a medium-firm mattress. It is definitely made for people who sleep strictly on their backs and stomachs. Side and combination sleepers might find this bed a little too hard and will be more comfortable with a softer mattress like the Layla mattress.
We found the Loom & Leaf mattress to be excellent at absorbing movement. It is a great option for couples as the motion transfer is minimal. Both the variants offered great edge support for people who prefer to sleep closer to the edge.
We found the mattress to be cooling enough for those who sleep hot. Most memory foam mattresses have a reputation for trapping heat but the gel infusion in Loom & Leaf mattress helps wick away heat.
Construction
The Loom & Leaf mattress is a 12″ tall mattress and consists of 5 layers:
- Mattress cover
- Comfort layer
- Contour layer
- Transition layer
- Base layer
The Loom & Leaf mattress cover is made up of organic cotton with 0.625″ quilted foam which gives it a plush and cozy feel. The Loom & Leaf mattress uses non-toxic, all-natural thistle as a flame retardant. The euro top mattress cover contains an antimicrobial coating that helps people who suffer from year-round allergies as it is free from any toxic substances.
Below the top layer is a dual layer of cooling-gel infused memory foam. The first memory foam layer is 2″ thick and the second layer adds another 2.5″ thick gel-infused foam with phase-change material. The cooling gel memory foam layer helps wick away heat from the mattress and allows hot sleepers to sleep a little cooler.
All the foam layers are CertiPUR-US certified meaning that the mattress is free from any harmful substances that could be detrimental to one’s health. The dual memory foam also provides enhanced spinal alignment to the sleeper.
Right under the memory foam sits a transition layer of 2″ polyfoam that helps transition of pressure between the comfort and the support layers. This layer is firmer in the firm variant of the mattress and softer in the relaxed-firm version.
The support layer of 5.5″ thick dense foam layer under the transition layer helps curb the sinkage of top layers and allows much a quicker response rate to pressure compared to regular memory foam. This layer helps provides a stable foundation to the mattress.
Sizes
Loom & Leaf mattresses are available in 7 sizes including queen-size mattresses. The mattress is 12″ thick and compatible with most bed bases, bed frames and foundations, and adjustable bed base.

Who should buy AS5 Mattress?
- Strict side and combination sleepers
- Those who love memory foam
- People who prefer thicker mattresses
- People suffering from chronic body pain
Firmness
The Amerisleep AS5 comes in two variants – all-foam and hybrid. Not many mattress manufacturers offer extra-soft mattresses for strict side sleepers. However, Amerisleep caters to this need by offering two versions of the same model. However, strict stomach and back sleepers need firmer support for spinal alignment which they won’t find with the AS5. If you are a strict back or stomach sleeper, you might want to try out Nolah mattress.
The AS5 sits on a 2-3 on the mattress firmness scale making it fall on the very soft end of the hard to soft scale. Sleeping on this mattress is like sleeping on a body-hugging cloud.
The AS5 has a very plush and comfortable feel for strict side sleepers. Even with the plush feel the mattress offers excellent motion isolation. Couples who have the same sleeping preferences will do very well with the AS5 but those with varying sleeping preferences might find other Amerisleep models a better fit.
People who loathe the feeling of being stuck in a mattress will find that this mattress offers a great response rate. We did find that the AS5 does poorly with edge support for people who like to sleep closer to the edge. The AS5 hybrid mattress is slightly bouncier than the all foam variant although both are excellent at deadening motion transfer.
Construction
The AS5 has probably the most luxurious construction among all the Amerisleep mattresses. It is their thickest mattress coming in at 14″. The mattress consists of 5 layers:
- Mattress cover
- Comfort layer
- Contour layer
- Transition layer
- Base layer
The AS5 comes with an ultra-breathable cover that helps the mattress from overheating. The first comfort layer of the mattress is a the thickest Bio-Pur memory foam layer out of all the other Amerisleep mattresses. This gives it an extremely plush feel along which aids in contouring of the body. The Bio-Pur memory foam performs an excellent job at cradling the body while maintaining its responsive feature to help push back any pressure buildup.
The next layer is made with an Active Flex foam that helps optimize the bounce of the mattress and you don’t get that sunk in feel. The quick response rate doesn’t compromise the softness of the mattress. Active Flex is a unique material that is both buoyant and supportive helping sleepers keep their spine in perfect alignment. Both the hybrid and the all foam variants contain this layer.
The transition layer of the AS5 features Amerisleep’s proprietary HIVE zonal foam offering targeted support to the head, legs, the shoulders and hips. We found that that this zoned support system did a great job of relieving back, shoulder and neck pain after just a few nights of sleeping exclusively on the AS5.
The support layer of AS5 all foam is made with high density foam that the company claims will not develop any soft spots in the next twenty years. However, the AS5 hybrid contains a support layer of pocketed coils that offers additional back support.
Coils offer flexible cushioning to promote better spinal alignment and further restricts sinking of sleepers into the bed. Amerisleep’s hybrid mattresses also works well in preventing heat retention as the coils allow more air circulation throughout the entire mattress.
Holding all the layers together is Amerisleep’s own Bio-Core foam base layer which helps prevent the mattress from premature sagging.
Sizes
The AS5 measures 14″ in thickness. It is available in 7 different sizes, including queen-size mattresses and is compatible with most bed bases and frames including and adjustable bed frame.

#3. Puffy
Check Current Price | Best Memory Foam Mattress | Review
Pros:
- Supportive
- Pressure relief
- Sleeps cool
- Great motion isolation
Cons
- Not suitable for combination sleepers
Who should buy Puffy Mattress?
- All sleeper types
- Couples
- Light sleepers
- People who tend to sleep hot
Our experience with Puffy Mattress
Puffy is a medium-firm mattress that is suitable for all sleeper types. The memory foam contours the whole body and minimizes strain on a sleeper’s main pressure points. The mattress offers great support for people who share their bed with a partner. We found that the mattress provides solid edge support and would be of great use to people who sleep closer to the edge. The gel memory foam mattress helps wick away heat and keeps the mattress cool.
Firmness
The Puffy mattress easily sits on a 6-8 on the mattress firmness scale making it a medium-firm mattress. The mattress should be ideal for the vast majority of sleepers who don’t have a specific preference. Usually experts recommend a medium-firm bed to stomach, back and side sleepers as it allows for better spinal alignment along with comfort.
The medium level of firmness plays a major role in offering adequate support for stomach and back sleepers. If you sleep with a partner who sleeps in a different position and you don’t want to be disturbed by their movement, this mattress is great for you as it offers excellent motion isolation.
We found that the mattress also offers excellent edge support for sleepers who tend to sleep closer to the edge. Strong edge support is one of the key factors that helps extend the lifespan of a mattress, so this could be another positive feature of the mattress.
Construction
The Puffy Lux mattress is 12″ tall and has five layers:
- Mattress cover
- Memory foam layer
- Transition layer
- Support layer
- Base layer
The Puffy mattress comes with a stain-resistant washable mattress cover. The mattress is Oeko-Tex standard certified, meaning that it is free from any harmful substances.
The topmost layer of the mattress is a 2″ thick proprietary Cooling Cloud™ Foam that ensures temperature regulation. This foam wicks away moisture and heat throughout the night making it a great choice for people who tend to sleep hot.
Under this layer is a 2″ thick plush dual cloud foam layer. This layer helps in cradling your body and supports every position you sleep in.
There is a 6″ thick high-density foam with a contour-adapt coil base sitting below the comfort layer which helps bring stability and support to the mattress. The support layer also offers edge support for people who tend to sleep near the edge of the bed.
All of Puffy’s mattresses are CertiPur-US certified meaning the materials used to make these mattresses are free from any toxic chemicals.

The Puffy Lux mattresses are available in 6 sizes including a queen mattress. The mattress is 10″ thick and their mattresses are compatible with most bed bases, bed frames and bases.

Who should buy PlushBeds Cool Bliss Mattress?
- People who like plush mattresses
- Combination and side sleepers
- People who sleep hot
- Those who suffer from chronic body pain such as fibromyalgia
Our experience with Plushbeds Cool Bliss Mattress
The Plushbeds Cool Bliss Mattress comes in a luxurious stretch knit mattress cover. Plushbeds mattresses – including the queen-size mattresses – feature the same resilient proprietary memory foam alternative like its other all-foam beds.
The Cool Bliss is a plush, soft mattress that will suit side and combination sleepers. Its breathable cover and open cell technology also helps you sleep cool. The Cool Bliss mattress has very good motion-isolating properties but we have seen better. The edge support of the mattress was also found to be only fair. This mattress is definitely not for the edge of the bed sleepers as the edges are not that firm.
Firmness
The Cool Bliss mattress sits on a 5/10 on the mattress firmness scale making it a medium-soft to medium mattress. This makes it suitable for many sleeper types, including those who sleep only on their sides. We do not recommend this bed to heavy-set sleepers however as this bed will only let them sink in. Heavier sleepers might want to have a look at the Airweave mattress.
We found that the mattress sleeps pretty cool because of the gel memory foam layers. There is an added ventilation layer to channel the air circulation all throughout the mattress ensuring a cooler sleeping environment.
The Cool Bliss mattress contours and cradles the body from head to toe and helps relieve pressure from the shoulders and hips. The hybrid mattress made with the combination of memory foam and latex creates a soft yet supportive bed.
Construction
The mattress is a 12″ tall mattress and consists of 5 layers:
- Mattress cover
- Comfort layer
- Latex layer
- Transition layer
- Base layer
The Cool Bliss mattress comes with a breathable mattress cover with advanced cooling properties to keep the mattress cool and dry throughout the night.
The 2″ thick patented gel memory foam helps dissipates body heat much faster than traditional memory foams. This layer is highly breathable and offers great pressure relief.
Right under the first memory foam layer sits a 2″ thick organic Dunlop latex layer from Arpico (GOLS certified) that helps mold the mattress to your body naturally. The certification ensures that 95% of the materials used are pure and organic.
There is a 2″ thick built-in internal ventilation as a transition layer for channeling heat away from the body. This layer maximizes air flow by creating necessary circulation throughout the entire mattress. If you tend to sleep hot, this mattress will be a great pick for you.
There is a 5″ high-density polyurethane foam layer under the third layer that offers great support to the body that is on par with any other premium quality innerspring mattress. This foam layer also helps evenly distribute support for the longevity of the mattress and prevents the mattress from developing any soft spots. The dense construction of the foam layers in the PlushBeds Cool Bliss also guarantees against premature sagging.
We experienced no instances of off-gassing with the Cool Bliss mattress and it could be partly due to the fact that it is not vacuum-sealed like most bed-in-box mattresses, but rather compression rolled.
Sizes
The PlushBeds Cool Bliss mattress comes in 7 sizes including a queen bed and measures 12″ thick. It is compatible with all frames, foundations and bed bases including an adjustable bed frame.

#5. GhostBed Classic

- Sleeps cool
- Responsive
Cons:
- Not suitable for side sleepers
- Motion transfer

Who should buy GhostBed Classic Mattress?
- Stomach and back sleepers
- People who sleep hot
- Couples
- Average to heavy weight individuals
Our experience with GhostBed Classic Mattress
The GhostBed Classic mattress is a medium-firm mattress that will be most suited to stomach and back sleepers who are average-weight and above. People who are lightweight might find this mattress a bit too firm for their preference. The contouring gel memory foam and aerated latex (non-allergenic) top layer offers a super-relaxing blend of support and response. However, we did find a little motion transfer so we won’t recommend it for light sleepers. If you are a light sleeper then you might want to look at Awara Mattresses.
Firmness
The GhostBed Classic mattress is made up of a memory foam and latex blend. We found the mattress to be an 8/10 on the mattress firmness scale making it a medium-firm mattress.
The GhostBed Classic combines the coolness and contouring comfort of gel memory foam with the responsiveness and bounce of aerated latex. While this combination is not new, GhostBed’s proprietary memory foam gives the mattress its own distinctive feel.
The level of firmness GhostBed Classic offers makes it most suited towards back and stomach sleepers as well as those who change sleeping positions throughout the night. Strict side sleepers need softer mattresses to get the relief they need. Therefore, strict side sleepers won’t feel too comfortable sleeping on this firm mattress.
We found that sleeping on a bed that features a blend of memory foam and latex gives a similar feel like that of an innerspring mattress. Having said that, because of its quick response rate, we felt a bit more motion transfer when sleeping. The motion isolation is pretty average but maybe not enough for the lightest of sleepers.
We found great edge support probably because of its thickness and high density foam core foundation. This base layer also gives the mattress its firmer feel while providing proper spine alignment.
Construction
The GhostBed Classic mattress is a memory foam and latex blended mattress with 4 layers:
- Mattress Cover
- Latex layer
- Memory foam layer
- Support layer
The mattress cover of the GhostBed Classic is made with viscose polyester breathable fabric. It is stretchy and helps maintain the temperature of the mattress.
The first layer is a 1.5″ hypoallergenic synthetic latex foam with small holes that are aerated to constantly pull heat away from the body. The latex offers a more responsive feel to the mattress that helps in both pressure relief and responsiveness for those who frequently shift between sleeping positions.
Right below the latex layer lies the gel memory foam layer that GhostBed is best known for. This layer that features GhostBed’s proprietary memory foam alternative that contains larger cells and helps wick away heat. Traditional memory foam mattresses tend to trap heat within the mattress. However, this layer keeps the mattress cool and makes it a great option for hot sleepers as well as for those who live in warmer climates. The gel memory foam comfort layer also helps give pressure relief and a gentler contouring feel.
There is a slight new mattress smell to the GhostBed Classic but this is easily remedied by airing out your mattress for a day or two. All the mattress materials used in GhostBed mattresses are CertiPur-US certified and are made without any harmful toxins or chemicals.
Sizes
The GhostBed Classic comes in 6 different sizes, including a California King and it measures 11″ tall. It is compatible with all frames, foundations and bed bases including an adjustable bed frame, which incidentally is also one of GhostBed’s many specialties.
