Curfew is a brand created by someone who’s been in the sleep-related product industry for years. We’re talking about Mr. Paladini, the founder and CEO of Bear Mattress. He obviously recognized the potential of CBD now and today we’re reviewing two of Curfew’s three products – the Evening Tincture and Nightly Soothing Salve.

We’ll start with some pros and cons and then go on to discuss various features such as flavor, ingredients, price, effectiveness, and more.

Curfew Evening Tincture

Evening Tincture Pros and Cons

ProsCons
– Broad Spectrum
– No additives
– Not Organic
– Price is on the high side

Broad-spectrum means that the tincture hasn’t been completely “cleared” of all the cannabinoids except for CBD – it rather means that other cannabinoids are still present in the product, although is smaller quantities. This further means that they will work together with CBD and have a stronger effect on the consumer. Like most tinctures, Evening Tincture by Curfew doesn’t contain any unnecessary or artificial additives.

Although it does say it’s GMO-free, the website doesn’t mention anything about their product being made of organic ingredients. It’s not a big deal, but it does make you ask why the price is not lower then. You can get the same quality from other well-known manufacturers for much less money.

As for the taste, Curfew only offers the peppermint flavor which comes from the natural peppermint extract. If we had to choose only one flavor, we’d probably pick the same because peppermint is soothing, is well-known for its soporific effect, and it works well to hide the earthy hemp flavor. Still, we think Curfew would attract more buyers with a wider range of products.

The tincture is easy to use. Just shake it well before consumption as per the maker’s recommendation, take the dripper and put some tincture below your tongue. Hold for a while and swallow. As the name suggests, this tincture should be used in the evenings or at night. Individuals who are in pain and who do not have to operate machinery or focus hard on their tasks may use it during the day as well – but generally, CBD is recommended as a sleep remedy and not for use at just any given time because of its relaxing and sleep-inducing properties.

Not everyone will react to CBD the same and every user is left to figure out whether and how much he or she would have to take.

As we mentioned above, the tincture is free of “bad” ingredients such as colors, sweeteners, etc. This product is made in the USA.

The serving size is one drop – 1ml. This amount contains about 16.5-17 mg of CBD. This is the typical amount that’s found in similar products. You can use more or less than that if one drop doesn’t work the way you want it to.

The Evening Tincture is Broad-Spectrum, which means that it’s in the medium range when it comes to two features – taste and efficiency. It has more of an earthy flavor than isolate oils, but it also works better when it comes to helping people relax. Full-spectrum oils have the most cannabinoids and the strongest smell, flavor, and efficiency.

The tincture is third-party lab tested with very low THC content. MCT oil is used as a base for Curfew’s tincture. MCT is derived from coconuts and it helps with CBD absorption into the system.

For some reason, there is no shipping information on the website and no phone number for quick customer service help.

Curfew Nightly Soothing Salve

Nightly Salve Pros and Cons

ProsCons
– Fair price
– Great ingredient choice
– It can’t be used on the face

The Nightly Soothing Salve offers topical relief and helps with skin conditions. Its strength doesn’t only lie in CBD but also in highly beneficial shea butter, coconut oil, and beeswax. Those who care about their skin have probably used at least one of those and have seen for themselves out how much their skin felt better. Well, Nightly Salve has a combination of all of those plus CBD plus essential oils.

The only thing that would make it better is if its use was also recommended for the face. It isn’t, so you can only use it on other parts of the body to alleviate aches and pain and improve the condition of the skin.

Value★★★★★

We think this product is of excellent quality and of great value since you can rarely find a mix of those specific ingredients we mentioned above in a CBD topical (and at the price of $75).

You should start by applying a small amount of the salve to your skin. Wait for about 10-15 minutes to see if your skin reacts negatively to this product (which is the standard procedure for any skin topical, not just CBD products). This way you’ll be sure the salve agrees with your skin and you can proceed to put it on the entire aching regions.

CBD was found very effective when used in topicals. This is because CBD is situated in the specific area where you need it and is easily absorbed by the skin. When you eat or smoke CBD products, they enter the body through your mouth, lungs, or stomach; into the bloodstream, and get dispersed throughout the whole body, so smaller quantities can reach your sore muscles. When you directly apply salve onto the skin, the CBD concentration is high in that particular place and it is more effective. People usually use CBD topicals to treat soreness, inflammation, irritated skin, arthritis, and pain.

The CBD topical has 500mg of CBD in a single pack, and how much you’ll get on your skin depends on how much of the cream you put on your skin. This is a broad-spectrum salve, which makes it weaker than those labeled as full-spectrum, but that doesn’t mean it is not effective. The Nightly Soothing Salve should be enough for most users.

Beeswax helps skin heal and has anti-inflammatory properties. It also protects the skin and is rich in vitamin A, which helps it on the cellular level. Coconut oil moisturizes the skin and makes it more elastic because it’s full of vitamins and fatty acids. It’s known to help with eczema and protect the skin from harmful bacteria. Shea butter helps skin look better (reduces dark spots and stretch marks), and it is used to ease joint pain and rheumatism.

Lavender and Eucalyptus also have many beneficial properties and are widely used to treat inflammations, heal wounds, soothe dry skin, and more.

Just make sure you are not allergic to lavender before you try this product.

About the company

Curfew was founded by the Bear Mattress founder and CEO, Scott Paladini. There really isn’t much information about the company on the website, which is quite typical for CBD-related brands – but also raises suspicions for an average buyer who wants to learn more.

Curfew sells a CBD salve, a tincture, and a CBD-infused blanket which is their signature product. They are the only company to have produced such a product (although there are a few brands making CBD-infused pillows) and it has drawn attention on the internet.
