My Cultiver Linen Duvet Cover Set is Actually Getting Softer With Age

Gray Cultiver Linen Duvet Cover

Sleepline.com has spent thousands of hours researching and comparing products relating to sleep. We are serious about recommending the correct products for your individual needs. We take in more data points than just our own and encourage our users feedback. At times we are compensated for the links you click at no cost to you. Learn more on our disclosure page here.

Cultiver is one of the best-known (and priciest!) linen product manufacturers. We’ve already reviewed their set featuring a flat sheet (and you can check it out here), but in this review, you can read about their Linen Duvet Cover Set.

Linen is one of our favorite bedsheet fabrics as it is light and airy, feels natural, and is environmentally friendly. Cultiver makes soft linen sheets and provides excellent customer support to anyone who may need it.

Pros and cons

ProsCons
– Made of 100% linen which is breathable and dries quickly
– You can request swatches
– Environmentally sustainable
– There’s no warranty, only a 30-day return period
– You may receive the sheets in an off-color (due to the seasons and the nature of 100% natural materials)

Linen sheets help dissipate heat as they allow ventilation and they dry more quickly; so if you tend to sweat a lot when you sleep, your problems will be lessened with linen.  And if you care about the environment, you will be happy to hear that linen is more sustainable than cotton. Since this is an online-only store, you can always request a swatch and see how you like the color and the material.

There is a slight chance the color you see on the website or even the color you receive as a swatch doesn’t exactly match the color of the item you purchase because of the nature of linen products.

If you’re not happy with the product you can return it within 30 days, but there’s no warranty on these products – which is something we don’t like.

PriceFrom $250 for a twin size to $375 for a Cal King
The duvet by itself comes in sizes King ($285) and Queen ($260).

This set doesn’t include a fitted sheet and is less expensive than the sets featuring a fitted and a flat sheet. The weight and density of the material are really good and we are happy that we can mix and match colors and make our own combinations.

Cultiver sets only come in four sizes, and if you sleep on a bed of a non-standard size, you may want to check out other companies like Linoto because they offer over 10 different sizes and you can make special orders with them.

The 15 colors and designs we listed here are also listed on Cultiver’s website – just don’t get too excited about those because there are only a few colors available for each size. It’s best if you personally take a look at which colors are available in your size at the moment.

Material

Your skin will be grateful to you if you treat it to high quality 100% pure linen. Linen is good for those who get hot while sleeping, people with allergies, and people who love natural fabrics.

The material weight is 165gsm (grams per square meter) which falls into the medium weight category of linen fabrics. This doesn’t tell us anything about the thread count (how dense the threads are) and the website doesn’t offer us that information.

Cultiver linen does not feel rough and no, it’s not like sleeping on a rough rag. Linen sheets are made to be as smooth as possible and soft. You’re almost guaranteed to enjoy the soft touch and appreciate the airiness of these sheets.

You do have 30 days to return an item that is unfit or if you simply changed your mind, but it has to be unused, unwashed, and unmarked. Any items that were on sale are not eligible for replacement or returns unless they are damaged. So even though there’s no warranty, it doesn’t mean you can’t contact the company and resolve the situation with them. We have left the contact information below.

The linen should be washed at a medium temperature and dried on the medium setting. If you’re line-drying, avoid long exposure to sunlight because the part of linen that’s turned towards the sun could fade in color.

Cultiver recommends having two sets of sheets which should be alternating between washes to prolong their lifespan. Linen sometimes tends to develop holes in areas that are the most exposed to friction and weight, so having two sets can really help with the lifespan of both.

Physical stores

There are no physical stores, but you can always order one swatch or more and see whether you like the material and color.

About Cultiver

Nicolle Sullivan is the founder and CEO of Cultiver. She started the company in 2012 in Cultiver, Australia. For years, Nicolle was an online shopper who could do her research well and who focused on finding well-sourced, quality items that were affordable.

Finally, after starting a family, she also decided to start something new – and that was Cultiver. First, they produced only bedsheets, but today you can find their napkins, mats, tablecloths, throw pillow covers, blankets, clothes, and more!
